Elvedi, who was born in Zürich, was a young player for FC Zürich. He made his Swiss Super League debut on 15 May 2014, playing the entire match in a 1-0 away win over FC Lausanne-Sport. Elvedi joined Borussia Mönchengladbach in 2015 for a cost of €4 million. He scored his first Bundesliga goal against 1. FC Köln in the derby. Borussia Mönchengladbach won the match 1-0.
