Early Life
Mejbri joined Paris FC in 2009 and was born in Ivry-sur-Seine, a suburb of Paris, France. It was revealed in 2016 that he was being scouted by a number of English teams, including Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, and Arsenal, and that he had gone on trial with Arsenal.
He also attended classes for a while at the esteemed INF Clairefontaine academy. Hannibal once went and trained with Pho Hien FC, a Vietnamese young development team, where his older brother Abderrahmen Mejbri is currently employed as a sports coach.
Club Career
Early Career
Mejbri had a brief time at Athletic Club de Boulogne-Billancourt despite the interest of English teams before joining AS Monaco in 2018 for a €1 million transfer fee. Within a year of joining, Mejbri lost faith in Monaco, despite being originally enthused with the club’s youth development, with his parents alleging that the Ligue 1 team had broken contract terms.
He was being monitored by clubs all over Europe in 2019, including the champions of Germany, France, and Spain, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, and Barcelona.
Manchester United
Manchester United of the Premier League stated on their website on August 11 that they had secured a deal with Monaco to recruit Mejbri. The teenager is said to have rejected offers from other English teams. It was estimated that the Manchester club paid a sum of about €5 million, with add-ons potentially bringing the total to €10 million.
Mejbri integrated well into Manchester United’s junior squads and, despite only being 17, advanced to the under-23 squad. On September 9, 2020, Mejbri made his professional debut for the Manchester United U21 team against Salford City in the 2020-21 EFL Trophy. In March 2021, he agreed to a new contract with United. He received the Denzil Haroun Reserve Player of the Year honor on May 20, 2021.
On May 23, 2021, Mejbri made his senior United debut in a 2-1 victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the last Premier League match; he entered the game in place of Juan Mata in the 82nd minute.
Birmingham City
Mejbri signed a loan agreement with Championship team Birmingham City on August 29, 2022, for the 2022–2023 campaign.

Through his parentage, he is qualified to represent Tunisia, Mejbri was first called up to the Tunisia national team in May 2021, pledging his international future to the country of his parents’ birth. His father, Lotfi, is rumoured to have played in Tunisia. On June 5, 2021, he made his debut in a 1-0 friendly victory against DR Congo.
Hannibal played in all five of Tunisia’s games as they advanced to the final at the 2021 FIFA Arab Cup, starting each one.
