Lei Jun Education

Lei Jun was born in Hubei, China on December 16, 1969. He is one of many persons whose great future frequently starts with a lot of difficulties in infancy. Jun spent most of his time before school in a tough industrial region in the stress of Wuhan, Central China. The now-technologist attended Mianyang Middle School and graduated in 1987. Jun enrolled at Wuhan University as a Computer Science student shortly after finishing middle school. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the same university in 1991. Interestingly, Lei Jun spent most of his time reading books on the late Steve Jobs, the founder of Apple, with the hopes of one day being like him. Jun convinced himself throughout his school days that he needed a college education to get the skills and insight needed to build a world-class firm. Lei Jun had just one aim after graduating from the University of Wuhan: to find a career that perfectly fit what he had learnt in school.

Professional Career

Lei began her career with Kingsoft, one of China’s top software businesses. Lei Jun was named President and CEO of Kingsoft after seven years of service. Lei Jun, the CEO and President of Kingsoft went out of his way in 2000 to launch an online bookshop. The store expanded tremendously. So much so that by 2004, it had become the best fan base for many individuals on the internet. In 2004, Amazon displayed interest in the bookshop and paid $75 million for Joyo.com. Jun was more than simply a coworker and CEO. He was also an investor. He has backed several successful firms, including Vancl.com, YY, and UCWeb. Furthermore, he has invested in over 70 startups for his portfolio firms. However, Lei Jun left as President and CEO of Kingsoft Inc. in 2007. Due to a health issue, he was promoted to Vice Chairman instead. As a result, he no longer assumed responsibility for the company’s day-to-day operations. Jun created his dream firm, Xiaomi Inc, two years later in 2007, the fourth-largest Smartphone Company in China. Lei started Xiaomi Corp. in April 2010 with many partners, including former Google employee Lin Bin. While the firm marketed a variety of products, cellphones were its main emphasis. Xiaomi was able to drastically undersell its competitors and survive in the Chinese market by focusing on online rather than brick-and-mortar sales and shunning costly advertising in favour of communicating with customers directly through social media. By 2014, the company’s worth of more than $46 billion had made it the world’s most valuable tech startup. In April of that year, Xiaomi demonstrated the strength of its brand by selling 2.1 million smartphones online in just 12 hours, breaking the world record for the most mobile phones sold on a single online platform in a single day, and by the end of 2014, Xiaomi had surpassed Samsung to become China’s leading smartphone vendor. Lei sought out chances to expand beyond China in order to sustain Xiaomi’s development. In July 2014, Xiaomi began selling smartphones in India, which Lei described as the company’s “second-largest market after China,” and in May 2015, Xiaomi launched an online marketplace for customers in the United States and Europe, though it initially only offered computer accessories and fitness devices rather than smartphones. Under Lei’s leadership, Xiaomi surpassed Samsung Electronics and Apple Inc. to become the world’s third-biggest smartphone manufacturer in 2014, and Lei was generally regarded as the “Steve Jobs of China.” He supervised the company’s first public offering (IPO) in 2018, which garnered over $3 billion when it was listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

Succes of Xiaomi

It is the most popular Xiaomi smartphone introduced in the last five years. It was found to be the fourth-largest smartphone in the world, owing mostly to its mobile apps. Xiaomi’s Mi series, Redmi series, MUIU, and WI WIFI smart gadgets, in particular, set sales records. In 2014, revenue was $12 million. Most notably, Xioami employs almost 8,000 people. Xiaomi has offices in both Malaysia and Singapore. Lei Jun, currently the CEO of Xiaomi, has stated that he is not trying to imitate Apple. He asserted that he owns the project. Xiaomi’s brilliance recently made a crucial comment on the charger’s unpacking, which began with MI11. Lei Jun revealed that it was his idea to remove the charger from phone boxes during a live broadcast on a TV programme he watched. An event happened at the New York World Trade Center. By participating in this event, Xiaomi has set a new record. He made it into the Guinness Book of World Records. The previous record of 643 persons was broken. Xiaomi set a new record by having 703 individuals open the package at the same moment. He opened the event without knowing what was in the box that the attendees were holding. Various than the phone, other accessories emerged from the package at the same moment. Xiaomi has set a new milestone by building 500 Mi Stores in India in recent years. Xiaomi was included in the Guinness Book of Records for generating a lot of attention in India with a huge Mi logo. In mid-2021, Xiaomi outperformed expectations. Xiaomi’s revenue was estimated to be around the end of 2021. It climbed by 64% between 2010 and 2020. In comparison, it was RMB 87.8 billion. As a result, its net profit increased by 87.4 per cent to RMB 6.3 billion. Net earnings reached new highs, indicating the company’s strong business strategy and operations. Despite this, 643 persons equalled the box office record achieved by Mercado Libre. Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has established a new milestone.
