He spoke about his faith, adding, “God comes first for me.” I kneel before every game, extend my arms, and pray… Galatians 1:10 is my favourite Bible verse: “If I were still seeking to satisfy man, I would not be a servant of Christ.” Navas stated on December 3, 2014, that he had received Spanish citizenship.

On December 28, 2017, a documentary film based on Navas’ life, Hombre de Fe (Man of Faith), was released. Eder Navas, his paternal half-brother, is also a Saprissa player.

Albacete

Paris Saint-Germain

On 2 September 2019, Navas signed a four-year contract with Paris Saint-Germain, becoming the first Costa Rican to play for the men’s squad. Twelve days later, he made his Ligue 1 debut, preserving a clean sheet in a 1-0 home win over RC Strasbourg. Navas earned his 20th career club title on July 24, 2020, when he defeated Saint-Étienne in the Coupe de France final.

He preserved a clean sheet and saved a penalty attempt in the ensuing shootout as PSG defeated Lyon 6-5 on penalties in the 2020 Coupe de la Ligue Final on July 31. Navas’ 15th European title matched Rafael Márquez’s record for a CONCACAF player.

Navas began his fourth Champions League final on August 23, 2020, losing 1-0 to Bayern Munich. Despite playing 191 minutes less, he concluded the European season with 5 clean sheets, second only to Manuel Neuer. Navas began his second season with the Paris club as one of seven players who tested positive for COVID-19.

Due of the quarantine rule, he missed the club’s first two games. On September 16, 2020, Navas played his first game of the season, defeating Metz and maintaining a clean sheet. On September 17, UEFA nominated Navas as a nominee for the 2019-20 Champions League Goalkeeper of the Season award for the second time.

Navas had a second consecutive clean sheet and numerous outstanding saves in PSG’s 3-0 away win against Nice on September 20. Navas won the 2020 Trophée des Champions on January 13, 2021.

With the victory, he surpassed former Rafael Márquez as the CONCACAF player with the most European trophies (16). Navas was named Ligue 1 Player of the Month for March on 20 April 2021, making him the first CONCACAF player to receive the honour. On April 26, 2021, Navas agreed a contract extension with PSG until 2024.

PSG signed Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma ahead of the 2021-22 season. This aroused concerns about future rivalry between Navas and his Italian colleague.
