German Alejo Pezzella (born 27 June 1991) is an Argentine professional footballer. He plays as a center-back for La Liga club Real Betis and the Argentina national team. He was born in Berlin, Germany. Argentinian central defender who became the captain of the Italian club ACF Fiorentina after several seasons as a player. A member of Argentina’s national team, he participated in both the 2009 Toulon Tournament and the 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup as a member of the team.
He joined Club Atlético River Plate’s youth team aged 14 when he became a part of the club. In his time playing for River Plate, he helped the club win the 2014 Copa Sudamericana and 2015 Recopa Sudamericana. The name of his father is Miguel. There is also a brother of his named Bruno who is also a professional soccer player. During his time at Fiorentina, he became a teammate with vice-captain Federico Chiesa.
