Life Journey

WoodGram presents the Full Story of a Football Genius known by his simple nickname “Dave.”.

Cesar Azpilicueta’s Biography and Childhood Story provides a full account of notable events from his childhood time to the present day. This biography of the Chelsea Legend and Captain focuses on his life before fame, his relationship life, and his family life, as well as other OFF-Pitch little-known facts about him.

Andrés Iniesta Biography, Age, Height, Wife, Family, Net Worth & Wiki

There is no doubt that everyone knows about Cesar Azpilicueta’s defensive skills, but few consider his biography, which is quite interesting. Without further ado, let’s begin.

On the 28th day of August 1989, Azpilicueta Tanco was born in Pamplona, Spain. Azpilicueta Tanco was born to Mr. and Mrs. Azpilicueta Tanco. His zodiac sign is Virgo.

Cesar was introduced to football by his elder brother, Juan Pablo Azpilicueta, who is nine years older than him. Azpilicueta came up through CA Osasuna’s youth system. He began his career as a forward before becoming a midfielder.

Azpilicueta became a regular in the first team in 2007-2008 due to injuries in the main squad. His career took off from there. After serving as a left-back the following season, he moved to Marseille in 2010.

In Marseille, he set a world record by playing as an attacker, winger, central/defensive midfielder, and right/central/left-back. At this point, he was a complete player.

Marseille confirmed that Azpilicueta could leave in August 2012 amid speculation about clubs interested in the player, including Premier League club Chelsea. Marseille said, “If Chelsea makes a fair offer for Azpi (Azpilicueta), we will let him go.”.

Despite his loyalty to Marseille, the player said he would leave if only his departure would improve Marseille’s finances. Chelsea FC’s acquisition of the player saved Marseille’s finances. After that, history was written.

Cesar Azpilicueta is a good man first and foremost. On the field, he has a gentle personality, which reflects his personal life. He is the kind of man every lady deserves to have as a lifelong lover.

The best thing about Cesar’s relationship life is that he has been taken by a lady who will never let him go, and that is all because of his good character. The actor is in a relationship with his childhood sweetheart, who goes by the name, Adriana Azpilicueta. They got married in June 2015 in Pamplona, Spain (where both of them are from).

They have a child together, who was born in March 2014. Adriana loves to keep her private life very private. It has been reported that Adriana most times battles with her husband regarding his over-loyalty to the Chelsea football club even when they are on holiday.

“As Cesar Azpilicueta points out,

He said he loved the good qualities of his wife. I accept the flaws that she has as well. I do not make my wife feel guilty for having the flaws she does. I personally take full responsibility for my errors and do not look for anyone to blame.”

The older brother of Azpilicueta, Juan Pablo Azpilicueta Tanco (born 1980), was also a professional footballer. As a midfielder, he competed exclusively in the lower divisions of the Spanish football leagues. The reason for the involvement of his little brother in football has been credited to him.

Aspilicueta’s father and mother live in Pamplona, Spain, where Azpilicueta grew up. Both parents are completely away from the media and enjoy an enjoyable life in their Spanish bull city away from the press. Azpilicueta is a Spanish city that is famous throughout the world for its running of bulls events. As part of their renowned multi-day festival, daredevil runners lead bulls through the streets of the city.

The idea of watching and participating in dangerous festivals can be very exciting for viewers.

Cesar Azpilicueta puts it this way:

The bull-running has never been something that I have participated in or observed. I can’t imagine I would have done it even if I had not been a footballer. But I know a lot of my former teammates who did it, and people in the town who have trained all year to be fit enough to run from bulls. Everyone has their own passion. Perhaps mine is to be fit for football.

It was once reported by Azpilicueta that his Creisea teammates had given up trying to pronounce his name correctly – preferring instead to call him ‘Dave’.

It is said that Azpilicueta once produced an idiot’s guide to pronouncing his name after his English fans demanded that they know how to pronounce the name.

The incident caused him to go to extreme lengths in order to teach his fans how to pronounce his surname. In the letter, Azpilicueta wrote out his name and broke it down into three simple, easy-to-say sections: Ath-pilly-kwta. Quite simple.

Azpilicueta drives a white Mercedes GLS that costs around £70,000. Currently, he earns E100,000 a week and can afford to buy four of these cars in a month.

It was not easy for Cesar to learn how to live in England when he arrived from France. However, he managed. There was one man who helped him along the way. His countryman Juan Mata is the man who regularly takes him to a London tour guide whose services he uses on a regular basis.

In the months following the arrival of new manager Jose Mourinho, Azpilicueta began to appear regularly as a left-back, taking the place of longtime incumbent Ashley Cole. In fact, he is the reason why Ashley Cole left Chelsea in the first place.

In the words Jose Mourinho once told a reporter:

“Azpilicueta is the kind of player I like a lot. I think a team with 11 Azpilicuetas would probably win the competition (Champions League) because football is not just about pure talent”.

Azpilicueta has even been used as a left-back by Antonio Conte. Azpilicueta was once voted the club’s Player of the Year for the 2013/2014 season. I was surprised to learn that he played every minute of every game for Chelsea during the 2016/2017 season.

In our research, we noticed that Azpilicueta is a Virgo.

Club Career

Osasuna

  • He is a product of the youth system of his hometown club CA Osasuna and made his debut for the club in La Liga on 8 April 2007 in a 0–2 loss to Real Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano.
  • Although still a member of the reserve team, he started his career as a forward and once he left the reserve team switched to midfield throughout his club and international career (both senior and youth), he played in a range of positions, including center-back and central midfield.
  • As a consequence of injuries in the main squad, Azpilicueta established himself as a first-team regular at the age of just 18 due to injuries in the main squad.
  • In the following season, he maintained this position, appearing in all but two league games over the course of the season.

Marseille

  • On 21 June 2010, the French club Olympique de Marseille announced that an agreement had been reached with the Spanish club Osasuna regarding the transfer of Azpilicueta, on a four-year contract worth €7 million.
  • The Navarrese confirmed the agreement a week later, with the transfer fee possibly increasing to as much as €9.5 million depending on the situation.
  • During his UEFA Champions League debut, he scored the only goal of the match in a home match against Spartak Moscow in the group stage, though in his own net.
  • It was during the early minutes of a 4-0 home victory against Montpellier – which would have put Marseille at the top of the league table – that Azpilicueta ruptured the anterior cruciate ligaments in his left knee.
  • He was sidelined for a period of six months. It was on 13 May 2012, when he scored his first and only Ligue 1 goal for Marseille in a 3–0 win over Auxerre, that he made his debut.
  • As far as rumors are concerned, Chelsea, as well as other Premier League clubs, have expressed interest in Azpilicueta, so Marseille confirmed that he could leave the club, saying, “If Chelsea makes an equitable offer for Azpi, we will let him leave.” Despite his loyalty to Marseille, the player said he was willing to leave if his departure could help Marseille’s finances.

Chelsea

  • Chelsea signed Azpilicueta for an undisclosed fee, reportedly £7 million, on 24 August 2012.
  • “He is a strong running right back with pace as well, so I think he is already a complete player,” said Juan Mata, his teammate, and countryman.
  • Because his surname was difficult for some English speakers to pronounce, club fans nicknamed him “Dave”.
  • On 25 September 2012, Azpilicueta made his debut in a 6–0 home victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers in a League Cup tie.
  • The following week, he came on as a substitute for Branislav Ivanovi* in a 4–1 win over Norwich City at Stamford Bridge.
  • Azpilicueta’s first league start came against Swansea City in a 1–1 away draw on 3 November.
  • The Blues ace played 48 games in his first year with the Rafael Benitez-led side, including eight matches in the Europa League victory.
  • In the final against Benfica, his handball in the 67th minute led to an equalizing penalty kick from *Scar Cardozo in an eventual 2–1 victory in Amsterdam.
  • During the fourth round of the League Cup on 29 October 2013, Azpilicueta scored his first competitive goal for Chelsea, scoring the first in a 2–0 victory over Arsenal.
  • Upon the arrival of new manager José Mourinho, he began appearing regularly at left-back, replacing longtime incumbent Ashley Cole.
  • “Azpilicueta is the kind of player I like a lot. I think a team with 11 of them would probably win the Champions League because football is more than talent alone.”
  • He was named the club’s Players’ Player of the Year at the end of the season.
  • Before the 2014-15 season began, Cole was released and the club spent £15.8 million on Filipe Luis, but Azpilicueta began the year as the first-choice left-back.
  • The 22-year-old signed a new contract with the club on 2 September 2014 and was sent off in the first half of a 2–1 win at Crystal Palace on 18 October for a foul on Mile Jedinak.
  • As Chelsea won the League Cup on 1 March 2015, Azpilicueta started. After a collision with Tottenham Hotspur’s Eric Dier in the second half, he left the pitch to have his head bandaged.
  • The season ended with the conquest of the domestic league title after a five-year wait.
  • In the 1–0 loss to Arsenal in the 2015 FA Community Shield, Azpilicueta played for 69 minutes.
  • It was his first Premier League goal 19 days later when he scored the third goal in a 3–2 away win over West Bromwich Albion, and he netted again in a 2–2 draw in the reverse fixture on 13 January 2016.
  • While Azpilicueta was initially used as a left-back under new manager Antonio Conte, the latter converted into a back-three formation after two consecutive league defeats, and the former players as a center-back in the following match against Hull City on 1 October 2016, which ended in a 2–0 away win.
  • After signing a three-and-a-half-year contract with Chelsea, he made his 200th competitive appearance for the club in a 1–0 away win over Sunderland on 13 December 2016.
  • In addition to playing every minute of the season as his team won the league, Azpilicueta also scored in a 4–3 victory against Watford after the title was already secured.

  • He scored his first Champions League goal in a 6–0 win at home against Qarabao FK on 12 September of that year.
  • A new contract was signed by Azpilicueta in December 2018. He had already worn the armband when the Englishman was out of the team, including in the UEFA Europa League Final win over Arsenal in Azerbaijan during the 2019–20 season.
  • In the Champions League, he won his 350th Chelsea appearance with a 1–0 away win against Ajax on 23 October.
  • With a goal in his 100th appearance as club captain on 1 January 2020, Azpilicueta was named man of the match in the 1–1 draw against Brighton & Hove Albion.

  • In his appearance against Manchester City on 3 January 2021, Azpilicueta became Chelsea’s 13th player to make 400 appearances.
  • After being sent off during the final matchday of the league season on 23 May, he was overturned on appeal after appearing to strike Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish during a 1–2 defeat.
