Caeleb Dressel is a freestyle and butterfly swimmer from the United States who is well-known for his sprint performances. He is presently a member of the International Swimming League and represents the San Francisco-based professional swimming club The Cali Condors (ISL). He earned seven gold medals at the 2019 World Aquatics Championships and eight medals, six of which were gold, at the 2019 World Aquatics Championships.

He is a two-time Olympic gold medalist who presently holds world records in the 100-metre butterfly (both long and short course), 50-metre style freestyle short course, and 100-metre individual medley short course.

Caeleb Dressel was born on August 16, 1996 in Green Cove Springs, Florida, USA. Michael and Christina Dressel were his parents. Tyler, Kaitlyn, and Sherridon are Caeleb’s three siblings. All of his brothers and sisters are competitive swimmers.

In terms of his education, he attended Clay High School. Caeleb received swimming instruction with the Bolles School Sharks. He has competed in swimming contests since he was a child. He was the youngest swimmer at the 2012 United States Olympic Trials for swimming events at the age of fifteen. He placed 145th in the 50-meter freestyle and 152nd in the 100-meter freestyle. He finished the 200-yard free relay in 19.82 seconds, breaking the previous record of 20 seconds and became the first swimmer under the age of sixteen to do so.

He becomes the youngest swimmer in history to break the nineteen-second record in the fifty-metre Freestyle Swimming in the 2013 Speedo Winter Junior National Championships.

At the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, he earned his first gold medal in the men’s 4 100-meter freestyle relay. In the final, he swam the fastest opening leg in the field, 48.10 seconds. He finished sixth in the final of the 100-meter freestyle with a time of 48.02.

He won seven gold medals at the 2017 World Aquatics Championships in Budapest, the most at a single World Championship since American former professional swimmer Michael Phelps did the same thing in 2007. On the first day of competition, he set the American record in the 100-metre Butterfly with a time of 22.76 seconds and finished first in the semifinals. He swam in the finals of the 100-meter butterfly and the semifinals of the 50-meter freestyle in the evening. He swam a 49.87 in the Hundred-metre Butterfly event. For the fifth time, he won the final of the events in less than 50 seconds.

He has qualified to compete for the United States in the 100-meter butterfly at the 2020 Summer Olympics. In the 50 m freestyle butterfly, he sets a new personal best of 21.51 seconds, making him the quickest seed to the final. On the final day of the competition, he qualified for the Olympic Games in the 50 m freestyle. He also takes first place in the final with a time of 21.04.
