Ruben Vargas began his career with his local club FC Adligenswil before joining FC Luzern, where he worked his way up from the youth ranks to the first squad over the course of a decade. He made his professional debut for FC Luzern on August 27, 2017, in a 1–1 draw with FC Zürich.
