Bernard Shaw, Husband, and Bodyguard of Patty Hearst
Bernard Shaw, a former San Francisco police officer who became the bodyguard and husband of Patricia Hearst, the heiress who was abducted in 1974 by a leftist guerrilla organization and then imprisoned for crimes she was accused of committing on its behalf, died on Dec. 17 at his home in Garrison, N.Y. He was 68. The Hearst Corporation said Bernard Shaw died after a long illness but did not specify the cause.
Mr. Bernard Shaw gained a kind of reflected celebrity through his association with Ms. Hearst, which the news media saw as an unlikely union of the upper and working classes. They met in 1976 after she was released on bail pending an appeal of her conviction in a bank robbery, which was carried out with her help, prosecutors said by a radical group that called itself the Symbionese Liberation Army. Bernard Shaw was one of about 20 bodyguards hired by the Hearst family.

Radical Story Of Patty Hearst: Kidnapped by the SLA
On February 4, 1974, at the age of 19, Patty Hearst was taken hostage by members of the Symbionese Liberation Army, who aimed to garner a hefty ransom from her wealthy father. In a strange turn of events, two months after she was taken captive, Hearst recorded an audiotape that would soon be heard around the world, announcing that she had become part of the SLA. In the months that followed, more tapes with Hearst speaking were released by the group, and the young woman had begun actively participating in SLA-led criminal activity in California, including robbery and extortion including an estimated $2 million from Hearst’s father during her months in captivity.
On September 18, 1975, after more than 19 months with the SLA, Hearst was captured by the FBI. In the spring of 1976, she was convicted of bank robbery and sentenced to 35 years in prison. Hearst would serve less than two years, however; she was released in 1979 after President Jimmy Carter commuted her prison term. In January 2001, shortly before he left the White House, President Bill Clinton granted her a full pardon.
Hearst’s experience with the SLA, particularly the details of her transition from victim to a supporter, has sparked the interest for the past several years, including countless psychological studies both inspired and bolstered by her story. The shift in Hearst’s behavior with the SLA has been widely attributed to a psychological phenomenon called Stockholm syndrome, in which hostages begin to develop positive feelings toward their captors, an effect thought to occur when victims’ initially frightening experiences with their kidnappers are later countered with acts of compassion or camaraderie by those same individuals.

In 1968, Goodnight earned a master’s degree in statistics. He also worked for a business that produced electronic tools for the ground stations that interfaced with the Apollo spacecraft.Goodnight’s opinions on corporate culture were influenced by his experience in a high turnover workplace while working on the Apollo programme.
After participating in the Apollo project, Goodnight went back to North Carolina State University, where he obtained his doctorate in statistics and served as an instructor from 1972 until 1976.

He was promoted to the first team by manager Givanildo Oliveira in June 2015. After being rejected by several teams and spending all his money on a 600-kilometer one-way ticket to Belo Horizonte for his trial, he had almost given up on a career in football.
On 4 July 2015, Richarlison made his professional debut against Mogi Mirim, winning 3–1. In the final minute of the match, he scored the winning goal as a late substitute for Cristiano. 17 days later, he extended his contract until 2018.

Fluminense
As of 29 December 2015, Richarlison signed a five-year contract with Fluminense of Série A. In the second leg of the second round of the Copa do Brasil, he contributed to all six of the team’s goals in a 3-3 home draw (6–3 aggregate) against Ferroviaria on 13 May 2016.
His league debut came two days later when he started in a 1–0 away victory against former club América. His first league goal came on 26 June, when he scored the winner in a 2–1 victory over Flamengo, a game in which he came on as a substitute but left with an injury.
Richarlison scored eight goals in 12 matches in the 2017 Campeonato Carioca as his club finished runner-up to Flamengo. This included one on 22 April, when the team beat Vasco da Gama 3–0 at the Maracana* Stadium.
Richarlison took part in his first continental competition, the 2017 Copa Sudamericana, the same year.
His four games in the Rio de Janeiro-based club’s run to the quarterfinals included three goals against Liverpool (Uruguay) and Universidad Católica (Ecuador).
Watford
Richarlison signed a five-year contract with English Premier League club Watford on 8 August 2017, for a fee of £11.2 million.
On the opening day of the Premier League season, he made his club debut as a substitute in a 3–3 draw against Liverpool.
On 19 August, he scored his first goal for the club in a 2–0 win over AFC Bournemouth. Watford’s only player to play every game of the Premier League season and score five goals.
Richarlison With Everton
Upon his transfer to Everton on 24 July 2018, Richarlison reunited with former Watford manager Marco Silva. The transfer fee is expected to start at £35 million and rise to up to £50 million.
A 2–2 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers marked his competitive debut on 11 August.
He was sent off two weeks later for clashing heads with Adam Smith during a match of the same score away to Bournemouth.
In Everton’s game against Leicester City on 6 October, Richarlison played in the center-forward role due to the poor form of fellow strikers. In a 2–1 away victory, Richarlison scored in the 7th minute.
The following month, he scored twice in a 3–1 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion. Charleston finished the season as Everton’s joint-highest goalscorer with Gylfi Sigurosson with 13 Premier League goals, while both players scored 14 goals in all competitions.
Richarlison received the number 7 jersey ahead of 2019–20. The following season, he finished as the club’s joint-highest goalscorer with Dominic Calvert-Lewin, with 13 Premier League goals, while both of them scored 15 goals overall.
Richarlison signed a new five-year contract with Everton on 3 December 2019. Everton beat Liverpool 2–0 at Anfield on 20 February 2021, Everton’s first away victory over their rivals since September 1999.

Richarlison Transfer: Major Club Wanted To Pay The Massive Fee For Richarlison
Why was Richarlison linked with a move to PSG?
Brazil’s forward was linked with a move to PSG this summer as the French giants had lined him up as a potential replacement for Kylian Mbappe.
Real Madrid was very interested in signing Mbappe and made multiple offers for the 22-year-old but PSG decided against selling him, which resulted in Richarlison remaining at Everton.
How Much Was PSG Willing To Pay For Him If Mbappe Left?
According to reports, PSG was prepared to pay Everton €90m (£77.3m) for Richarlison if Mbappe moved to La Liga. In 2018, during Marco Silva’s tenure at Everton, they spent up to £50m on Richarlison when they signed him from Watford. This would have allowed Everton to make a profit of at least £27.3m on the 25-year-old attacker.
Would Everton Have Accepted This Offer?
Rafael Benitez said last week that Richarlison would not be sold before the transfer window closed. A bid exceeding £77m would have been difficult for Everton to turn down. For the club, this would have been the highest fee they’ve ever received for a player. In light of this, they would have had to seriously consider and possibly accept PSG’s proposal.
Did Everton Have A Contingency Plan Of Their Own?
This may well have been the case. With one addition to their squad on Deadline Day, the Toffees added striker Salomon Rondon on a free transfer.
Richarlison and Rondon appear to have similar physical characteristics. With both players standing over 6 feet tall, they offer a significant presence in the final third, as well as the ability to stretch defenses with their willingness to run in behind.
As things stand, the attacking duo will remain at Everton at least until January, and they could lead the line together after the international break, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin currently suffering from a thigh strain.
However, it is possible that Benitez had in the back of his mind that Richarlison might leave the club at the last moment, so he may have wanted Rondon to pick up where he left off if that turned out to be the case.
Facts About Richarlison
In his home city of Nova Venécia, he grew up in a rough and poor neighborhood of Vila R*bia. In addition to selling ice cream and chocolates, he also washed cars for some extra cash.
He used to be encouraged to sell drugs by most of his friends while growing up. He managed to avoid such activities and instead took low-paying jobs.
One time, a guy pointed a gun at Richarlison because he believed he was a drug dealer and trying to steal his distribution point.
About 9 km from his home was one of his first soccer schools. As a result, he used to run 9 km no matter what the weather was like.
When he was young, his parents separated. As a result, he moved in with his father since his mother couldn’t take him to soccer. At the age of 10, however, he moved in with his mother after his father relocated.
He has been involved in charity work in his hometown, Nova Venécia. In May 2018, he organized a charity match in the city and donated more than 3 tonnes of food to underprivileged residents.
He joined Watford FC from Fluminense in an £11.2 million deal in August 2017. Watford agreed to insert a sell-on clause in the contract, which led to the Brazilian club agreeing to a deal with Watford.
He was the only player in the squad to play all 38 games for Watford in his only season with the club.
The Everton Football Club acquired his services by agreeing to a transfer with Watford. The club initially paid £35 million, but the fee may increase to £50 million with add-ons, making him the club’s most expensive signing.

Life Journey
Woodgram presents a comprehensive account of one of the sport’s greatest geniuses known as “Luca”. From his childhood to the present, Lucas Digne’s Biography gives you a full account of notable events in his life. We analyze his early life, family background, personal life, family facts, lifestyle, and other little-known facts about him.
Everybody knows that he can harass attackers into conceding possession. Few, however, consider Lucas Digne’s biography, which is quite interesting. Without further ado, let’s begin.
Lucas Digne was born in the commune of Meaux, France on July 20, 1993. Born to his mother, Karine Digne, and father, Philippe Digne, he was the second of two children. He grew up alongside his older brother, Mathieu Digne, in Meaux in France, where he belongs to a generation of players of white ethnicity with obscure roots.
While growing up in Meaux, France, Digne followed in the footsteps of his older brother Mathieu by playing football at an early age. At the same time, Digne casually told anyone who listened that he was going to become a professional in the sport and had the perfect mannerism to support his claim.
Young Digne’s obsession with football grew as he grew in height and age. His enrollment at local club Mareuil-Sur-Ourcq enabled him to experience competitive football and, most importantly, tone down his rhetoric about becoming a professional.
By the time Digne was 9 years old in 2002, he had joined Crepy-en-Valois, a neighboring club where he improved on the skills he acquired after 3 years of training at Mareuil-Sur-Ourcq and remained open to learning more.
At the height of Digne’s football engagements with Crepy-en-Valois, his shiny blonde hair became something of a marker for scouts from Lille to follow his impressive positioning during competitive matches.
Consequently, the 12-year-old football prodigy joined Lille’s youth system, where he rose through the ranks for the next five years before eventually being promoted to the club’s first team.
In July 2010, he signed his first professional contract with the French side. Lille was not more than a stepping stone for Digne, who aimed to fulfill his childhood dream of playing for Paris Saint-Germain. It explains his quick move to “the dream club” in 2013 after spending two seasons at Lille.
Digne married his girlfriend Tiziri on December 27, 2014, after meeting while attending lycée, which is similar to the sixth form. The couple has two children, a son named Isahoet born in April 2019, and a daughter named Inhaya born in 2021. Digne was in Barcelona when it was struck by a terror attack on 17 August 2017, and gave first aid to the victims.

At the Stadio Olimpico, he played the entire match in a 2–1 victory against title holders Juventus five days later.
As he blew a sarcastic kiss at Roberto Pereyra, he advised him to check the scoreboard, a gesture reminiscent of Francesco Totti’s kiss to Igor Tudor of the same rival in a 4–0 win in February 2004.
On 26 September, he scored his first goal for the Giallorossi with a close range header in a 5–1 home win over Carpi, after having assisted Kostas Manolas to open his account with the club.
On 12 February, he returned from injury to score from 30 meters in a 3–1 victory against the same opponents, and on 17 April he opened a 3–3 tie against Atalanta.
In Serie A, the team from Italy’s capital finished third, and Digne declared that the move would be permanent.
Barcelona
Digne signed a five-year contract with Spanish La Liga side Barcelona on 13 July 2016. The fee was €16.5 million (£13.8 million), with the possibility of increasing to €20.5 million (£17.1 million), depending on individual and team performance.
On 14 August 2016, Digne made his first appearance for Barcelona in the 2016 Supercopa de Espa*a’s first leg, replacing compatriot Jérémy Mathieu after 27 minutes.
He played 26 games in his first season at the Camp Nou, scoring once in a 7–0 (8–1 aggregate) win over Segunda División B side Hércules in the last 32 of the Copa del Rey on 21 December 2016.

As a substitute for Richarlison for the last four minutes of a 2–2 draw at Wolverhampton Wanderers ten days later, he made his debut.
In his first start against Rotherham United on 29 August, he assisted Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s goal.
Digne made his first Premier League start for Everton against Huddersfield Town four days later, when he assisted Calvert-Lewin’s headed equalizer in a 1-1 draw.
In October, Digne had surpassed Leighton Baines as Everton’s first-choice left-back.
In the sixth minute of stoppage time in the match against Watford on 10 December, he curled in a free-kick for a 2–2 draw.
Several days later, he scored twice in a 5–1 victory over Burnley, with a free-kick and a 30-yard strike.
After denying Adama Diakhaby a goalscoring opportunity with a foul, he was sent off in a 1–0 win at Huddersfield on 29 January 2019.

Life Journey
Elizabeth II was born on April 21, 1926, during her late grandfather King George V’s reign. Her father, the Duke of York, afterward King George VI, was the King’s second son, while her mother, the Duchess of York, later Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, was the daughter of Scottish nobleman Claude Bowes-Lyon.
She was baptized at Buckingham Palace’s private chapel by Cosmo Gordon Lang, the Anglican Archbishop of York, and given the name Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor. Her close relatives called to her Lilibet. Princess Margaret is Elizabeth’s only sibling. Marion Crawford, their governess, and their mother oversaw their education at home.
Elizabeth was third in line to the British throne during her grandfather’s reign, after her uncle Edward then her father. Despite the public’s excitement in her birth, Elizabeth was not anticipated to become queen because Edward was still youthful so likely he would marry and have children, who would take their place in the line to the throne ahead of her.
She emerged second in line of succession after her father when her grandpa died in 1936 and her uncle ascended as Edward VIII. Eventually, Edward abdicated when a constitutional crisis erupted over his anticipated marriage to widowed Wallis Simpson.
As a result, Queen Elizabeth II’s father was crowned king and given the regnal name George VI. Elizabeth became heir presumptive because she had no brothers. If her father had a later son, he might have been the chosen successor and would have been ahead of her in the line for the throne, which was established at the time by male hereditary rule.
When World War II broke out in 1939, Elizabeth and her sister were transferred to Windsor Castle and mostly kept out of London. She went on to make the first of her iconic radio broadcasts in 1940, this one comforting British youngsters who had been evacuated from their homes and family. Elizabeth quickly began to take on additional public responsibilities.
Elizabeth had her first public appearance checking the troops in 1942 when her father designated her commanding officer of the Grenadier Guards. Elizabeth enlisted in the Auxiliary Territorial Service in 1945 to aid in the military effort. She studied to be an excellent driver and technician with other British ladies. However, her volunteer effort was just for a few months.
Elizabeth met and fell in love, Prince Philip of Greece and Denmark. On November 20, 1947, Elizabeth and Philip got married in Westminster Abbey. On November 14, 1948, Elizabeth delivered her first child, Prince Charles. In 1950, her second, Princess Anne, was born.
As George VI’s health condition worsened in 1951, Elizabeth regularly filled in for him at public engagements. Elizabeth and Philip embarked on a trip to New Zealand And Australia through Kenya in early 1952. They had barely returned to their Kenyan home on February 6, 1952, when word broke of the King’s death and, as a result, Elizabeth’s instant succession to the throne.
The coronation of Queen Elizabeth II took place on June 2, 1953. The ritual at Westminster Abbey was aired for the first time, with the exception of the communion and anointing. At Elizabeth’s request, the floral symbols of Commonwealth nations were embroidered on her coronation robe. Elizabeth ruled for decades and on 9th September 2015, she became the longest-reigning monarch in history surpassing Queen Victoria.
Queen Elizabeth II had a net worth of estimated $426 million dollars at the time of her death in 2022.

Queen Elizabeth is not even close to becoming the world’s wealthiest lady, contrary to common perception. She isn’t even a billionaire in the traditional sense. Elizabeth’s assets are divided into two categories, her personal assets, and assets held by an organization known as the Crown Estate.
Balmoral Castle in Scotland and the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, England are owned by Queen Elizabeth directly. These are the properties she acquired from her father. She has a hefty stock portfolio, a number of works of art as well as a stamp collection.
The Crown Estate is a real estate holding company that is not controlled by Queen Elizabeth II or the government. If Queen Elizabeth were to directly possess the Crown Estate but she does benefit from its earnings.
The Crown Estate generates about $18 million in revenue for Elizabeth each year. The Duchy of Lancaster, a real estate portfolio, generates $27 million in annual revenue. Elizabeth uses a company called the Sovereign Grant to collect 25% of the Crown Estate’s profits to pay for her and her family’s needs.
Reign
The coronation of Queen Elizabeth II took place on June 2, 1953. Elizabeth’s coronation, held at Westminster Abbey, was the first to be shown live on television. The event was seen by 27 million people in the United Kingdom, out of an overall population of 36 million, and 11 million more heard on the radio. Following that, 3 million people queued the path as the Queen and her staff returned to Buckingham Palace in a lengthy procession.
In 1970, when on a royal visit of Australia and New Zealand with Philip and Princess Anne, Queen Elizabeth defied centuries of royal custom by taking a leisurely stroll to meet throngs of people in person rather than waving from a safe distance. Since then, the British royals have gone on walkabouts both overseas and at home.
Elizabeth and Philip took the Gold State Coach through Buckingham Palace to St. Paul’s Cathedral on June 7 to celebrate her Silver Jubilee as Queen marking her 25 years on the throne. The queen, dressed in a bright pink gown with a headdress adorned with 25 fabric bells, reaffirmed her long-ago promise to devote her life to service.
On July 29, 1981, an estimated 750 million people in 74 countries saw the live broadcast to see Prince Charles, Queen Elizabeth II’s eldest son, getting married to Lady Diana Spencer in St. Paul’s Cathedral. The successor to the British throne and the youthful couple had sparked widespread media interest, and their extravagant wedding was termed the wedding of the century.
During then Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher’s administration decided in late 1984 to surrender Hong Kong’s sovereignty to China on July 1, 1997. Elizabeth became the first British queen to tour the Chinese territory in 1986, seeing Xi’an’s terracotta army, Beijing’s Great Wall, and other attractions.
Charles and Diana’s marriage deteriorated further, and they declared their separation in 1992. Queen Elizabeth II’s younger son, Prince Andrew, and his wife, Sarah Ferguson, split, while Anne separated from her husband, Mark Phillips. That year a massive fire broke out in Windsor Castle, damaging almost 100 rooms. Queen Elizabeth said in a speech marking the 40th anniversary of her accession that the year 1992 “has proved to be aAnnus Horribilis, which means a dreadful year in Latin.
After Diana’s death in a car accident in Paris in the summer of 1997, public criticism of the royal family increased. Initially, the queen denied allowing the flag to be flown over Buckingham Palace or even to address the country in mourning. She soon gave a rare broadcast speech to a country saddened by the loss of Princess Diana, People’s Princess, at the request of her advisers.
Queen Elizabeth II’s Golden Jubilee celebrations were tarnished in 2002 by the deaths of her younger sister and their mother. Elizabeth traveled almost 40,000 miles during her Golden Jubilee year as the second British queen to do so, including excursions to the Caribbean, New Zealand, Australia, and Canada. She also travelled across the United Kingdom, seeing 70 towns and cities in 50 regions.
In July 2013, the queen received Prince George, the first child of her son Prince William, as a new great-grandson. George is generally anticipated to become king one day, as he is third in line for the throne after his grandfather and father. This marked the first period since Queen Victoria’s rule that three generations of direct successors to the British monarchy were living around the same time.
In 2018 when Prince Harry married Meghan Markle, a divorced biracial American actress, Elizabeth’s reign signified the changing monarchy. Queen Elizabeth II approved their wedding from the first but the British press and media were skeptical about the couple.
When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced they were stepping down as senior royals in 2020, the monarchy was harshly criticized.

N’Golo Kanté is a French footballer who plays as a central midfielder for the Premier League club Chelsea and is a member of the France national team. Counted by many as one of the world’s best midfielders, Kanté is praised for his work rate and defensive abilities. Kanté debuted as a professional with Boulogne in 2012, as a substitute in one Ligue 2 game, and played three seasons in the third division the following season. Then, he signed for Ligue 2 side Caen on a free transfer, finished third, and won promotion to Ligue 1. He stayed at the club for one more year.
In 2015, Kanté signed for Leicester City for £ 5.6 million and played a crucial part in their first Premier League title. In the following season, he joined Chelsea for a fee of £32 million and again won the league, making him the first outfield player to win consecutive league titles with different clubs since Eric Cantona in 1992 and 1993. Additionally, he has won the PFA Players’ Player of the Year, the FWA Footballer of the Year, the FA Cup, and the UEFA Europa League. The UEFA Men’s Midfielder of the year award went to him in 2021.
Kanté debuted for France at the senior international level in 2016 and was a member of the runner-up squad at the 2016 European Championship. Kanté was named the French Player of the Year in 2017, an honor first earned by a player from the Premier League in seven years, and twelve months later was a key member of France’s world championship-winning squad.

Life Journey
Kanté is a practicing Muslim. In 1980, his parents migrated to France from Mali and he was born in Paris. His parents lived in a small apartment in Rueil-Malmaison, Hauts-de-Seine. N’Golo’s father died shortly after he turned 11, and his elder sister Niama passed away from a heart attack before the 2018 Worldup.
He was named after King Ngolo Diarra of the Bamana Empire. He had a younger sister who was in the youth system at Suresnes. Diego Maradona, Ronaldinho, and Ronaldo were his favorite players while growing up. During his time as a Boulogne player, he obtained a diploma in accounting at the age of 21.
He commuted to training on a kick scooter at Boulogne at the start of his professional career and bought his first car in England, a Mini Hatch, when he moved there because it was easy to learn to drive in. In addition to Kanté being aware of the public perception that he is a shy and private individual, he said that stories about him, like those about Jamie Vardy, were often exaggerated.
“NG” is Kanté’s nickname, and he enjoys playing tennis outside of football. His go-to karaoke song is Vegedream’s “Ramenez la coupe à la maison”. During his initiation at Chelsea, which he described as a “stressful moment,” his teammates said he was not loud enough. His favorite dish is thieboudienne, which his mother makes.

N’Golo Kante’s house and the number of cars the talented footballer owns are two topics that currently thrill many Chelsea FC fans. It is because everyone gets shocked when they find out that N’golo Kante is a millionaire footballer who leads a very modest lifestyle.
The super-talented midfielder earns as much as £16,931 every week but currently only owns and drives a 2nd-hand Mini Cooper subcompact car. He doesn’t own a Ferrari, Lamborghini, Range Rover, or any other fancy car. He only owns a Mini Cooper.
Kenté had looked set to end his time with Adidas last year when he started wearing blacked-out PUMA boots while training. But Adidas has managed to persuade him to sign a new deal that will keep him bound to the brand for the foreseeable future. The standard practice is for players to try out other brands before their current contract ends, and Kanté looked to be talking to Adidas German neighbors PUMA after he trained in both the ONE and Future silos, but now he’s officially an Adidas player again.
The fact that he was on the verge of signing something with PUMA may have helped Kanté wrangle a better, better deal with Adidas in terms of exposure and finance. Since April, Kanté has worn the white “Virtuso Pack” and now that Adidas has signed the contract, we can expect him to switch to the current “Encryption Pack” when he plays at Chelsea.
We have already mentioned that N’golo Kante is very humble and modest, so it is quite difficult to tell if he takes part in charitable activities often or not. Even so, one popular story about him shows that he is probably the only player in the Premier League who does not participate in any form of tax evasion.
The details of the story revealed that when N’golo Kante signed for Chelsea F.C, he was advised to use an offshore account for receiving his salary to enjoy tax benefits. In a surprise move, the young footballer declined the offer by saying that he was “okay” with whatever take-home he gets after heavy taxes have been removed from his salary. As the very first example of honesty and humility in the world of English football, this incredible story will go down in history.
Kanté began his career at the age of eight at JS Suresnes in the western suburbs of the capital, where he spent a decade. In the opinion of assistant manager Pierre Ville, Kanté remained unknown to big teams due to his small stature and selfless style of play. During this time he was rejected from the academy at Clairefontaine.
He joined the reserve team of Boulogne in 2010 through the contacts of Suresnes’ president. On 18 May 2012, he made his professional debut in the last match of the Ligue 2 season, with his already relegated team losing to Monaco by a score of 1–2. He replaced Virgile Reset for the final 11 minutes.
During the 2012–13 season, he played in the third-tier Championnat National and missed only one league game. It was on 10 August that he scored his first senior goal, the only one in a win over Luzenac at the Stade de la Libération, and he went on to score two more.
The 2013-2014 season saw him play all 38 games for Caen in Ligue 2 as they finished third in the league, earning a promotion to Ligue 1. He scored his first goal of the season in his second match against Laval on 9 August; he equalized again in a 3–2 victory against Istres on 11 April 2014.
Kanté played 37 games as Caen remained in the top flight the next season; his only absence was due to a suspension for sending him off in a 0–1 home loss to Rennes on 30 August. In a 3–0 victory over Evian three weeks ago, he scored their first goal of the season. The more balls he recovered over the course of the season, the more than any other player in Europe.
Steven Walsh scouted Kanté for Premier League team Leicester City, who had previously facilitated the transfers of Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez. It was reported that Kanté would be the successor to Esteban Cambiasso.
In August 2015, he signed a four-year contract with Leicester City, reported to be worth €8 million (£5.6 million). Five days later, he replaced Vardy for the final eight minutes of a 4–2 home win over Sunderland. His first Premier League goal came in a 2–1 win at home against Watford on 7 November.
His continually impressive displays for Leicester earned him much praise and plaudits, and he was widely considered a major factor in their excellent season as they won the Premier League in 2015–16, consistently making a high number of tackles and interceptions.
Mali approached Kanté ahead of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations. Kanté has not played for France in any of their youth teams. Kanté declined on the grounds that he was still trying to establish himself in Ligue 1. The Mali FA extended another invitation to Kanté in January 2016, although he said that he was still undecided about which national team to represent if France extended it.
In April, he was named one of four Leicester players in the PFA Team of the Year. As of the end of the 2015–16 Premier League season, Kanté had accumulated 175 tackles (31 more than any other player) and 157 interceptions (15 more than any other player).
Against the Netherlands and Russia in friendlies on 17 March 2016, Kanté was selected for the France senior squad for the first time. He made his debut eight days later against the former, replacing Lassana Diarra at halftime of a 3–2 win at the Amsterdam Arena. His first start came on 29 March, his 25th birthday, in a 4–2 victory over Russia at the Stade de France; Dimitri Payet also scored.
In July 2016, Kanté signed a five-year contract with Chelsea, who paid a reported £ 32 million transfer fee. Arsenal allegedly backed out of the deal due to agent fees which totaled more than £10 million and signed Granit Xhaka instead. Due to disputes relating to the sharing of agent fees, Kanté received death threats, a claim which he later denied. Kanté was given the number 7 shirt, which had been vacant since Ramires was sacked in January.
After competing for France, Kanté took part in his first competitive match by starting the opening game of Euro 2016 against Romania; I made the most passes, tackles, interceptions, covered the most distance, and assisted Dimitri Payet’s winning goal in a 2–1 victory.
On 15 August 2016, Kanté started the first game of their season against West Ham United. He picked up a yellow card in the first three minutes of the game, but as the game went on, he shone, helping Chelsea to a 2–1 victory. For the first time since moving to London, he faced his former team, Leicester City, and was named Man of the Match in a 3–0 victory. Chelsea defeated Manchester United 4–0 at home on 23 October, when he scored his first Chelsea goal.
According to L’Équipe, Kanté was named the world’s sixth-best footballer in 2016. Kanté scored the only goal in Stamford Bridge’s FA Cup quarter-final win over Manchester United on 13 March 2017. He was named man of the match and scored in the 51st minute.
Kanté was named in the PFA Team of the Year for the second time this season on 20 April. Additionally, he won the PFA Players’ Player of the Year, FWA Footballer of the Year, and Premier League Player of the Season awards. Kanté becomes the first player to win back-to-back top-flight titles in England with two clubs since Eric Cantona in 1993.
During the 2017 FIFA World Cup in Russia, Didier Deschamps named him to the 23-man French squad. At the tournament, he played in all 7 matches for France. Kanté was named man-of-the-match in a 0–0 draw against Denmark in the final match of the group stage, and on 15 July, he started France’s 4–2 victory over Croatia in the final.
Kanné, nominated for the Ballon d’Or in October 2017, won the award. On 19 May 2018, he would go on to win an FA Cup after appearing for the full 90 minutes against Manchester United in the final, winning 1–0. He was named BBC Sport’s Man of the Match.
Chelsea signed him to a five-year contract on 23 November 2018, making him the Premier League’s highest-paid player. Kanté scored Chelsea’s first goal in the 2–1 EFL Cup semi-final second leg win over Tottenham Hotspur. On aggregate, the score was 2–2 after 90 minutes, with Chelsea winning the shootout 4–2. Kanté scored on his 300th club appearance, a 2–2 draw at home against Burnley on 22 April.
Kanté started the 2018–19 Europa League final despite being ill and dominating Arsenal’s midfield as Chelsea won 4–1.
Chelsea suffered a 4–0 defeat to Manchester United on the opening day of the 2019 Premier League season. Kanté started from the bench. He has been out for almost a month including missing the Champions League opener against Valencia because of an ankle injury. Kanté scored the only goal as Stamford Bridge lost 1–2 to Liverpool on 22 September 2019. Chelsea teammate Fikayo Tomori was nominated for the Premier League Goal of the Month award for his first goal of the season.
Kanté scored his 150th Chelsea goal against Manchester City in a 1–2 away loss on 23 November. During the COVID-19 pandemic in May 2020, Kanté chose to train at home after Chelsea resumed on-site training. In spite of the fact that he will miss the remainder of the season, the club supported him in his stance.
Kanté was very impressive in the 3–1 away victory against Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League opener on 14 September 2020. As Chelsea defeated Atlético Madrid 1–0 in the Champions League round of 16 on 23 February 2021, he made his 200th appearance with the club across all competitions.
He was widely lauded for his performance against the Spanish sides, Atlético Madrid and Real Madrid, in the Champions League semifinals. In the 2021 UEFA Champions League Final in Porto, he won his first UEFA Champions League after Chelsea defeated Manchester City 1–0.
The match-winning performances Kanté had in Chelsea’s run to the final of the 2020–21 UEFA Champions League season prompted some to deem him the apparent successor to former France and Chelsea player Claude Makélélé, who is among the best defensive midfielders in history.
Kanté was called up to the France squad for UEFA Euro 2020 in May 2021.
Kanté was named the UEFA Men’s Midfielder of the Year on 26 August 2021 but lost out to Chelsea teammate Jorginho for the UEFA Men’s Player of the Year award.
During the COVID-19 pandemic in September 2021, Kanté tested positive for the virus and was required to stay in isolation for 10 days. Kanté was one of five Chelsea players selected for the final 30-man Ballon d’Or shortlist on 8 October.
