Maxi Gomez (Maximiliano) Biography, Age, Wife, Transfer, FIFA 22, Career, Net Worth & Wiki

Maxi “Maximiliano” Gomez Gonzalez (born 14 August 1996) plays as a striker for Trabzonspor of the Süper Lig and the Uruguay national team. Before joining Defensor Sporting’s academy, he played for his hometown clubs Litoral, Estudiante, and Huracán. He also made his senior debut for Montevideo. Celta was his first club outside his country, and he moved to a bigger club after two years with the Galician side after scoring 30 goals in that time.

Even though he is physically gifted, he isn’t the most agile player on the pitch. Since he uses his big frame to bully defenders, we don’t think he can do much about it. It will be useful when he links up and participates in the buildup of play if he improves his passing game. The Uruguayan striker has never played for his nation’s junior teams. Since 2017, he has been a member of the senior squad and has participated in the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Style of Play

Stones is a ball-playing centre-back who is well-known for his technical skill and physical presence. Teammates and coaches have lauded his ball control, defensive skills, passing range, adaptability, and vision.

“John can do things other defenders can’t – a little feint here and there, maybe a turn to get out of trouble when he has to – and that’s what will set him apart from others — the capacity to do things others can’t,” Joleon Lescott remarked of his talent. He’ll perform his job and defend effectively, but there will be times when he does something exceptional that makes you go, ‘oh, that’s why he’s the best.’

John Stones doesn’t appear to be phased by anything, and he never hides.” Kyle Walker, a Manchester City and England teammate, adding, “You don’t completely appreciate him until you play with him.” He is seldom beaten, is excellent on the ball, and is very cool and level-headed.”

He honed his ball-playing technique early in his career at Barnsley, and many credit his later improvement to Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola. His passing range has prompted parallels to Rio Ferdinand, Gerard Piqué, Jérôme Boateng, Pep Guardiola, and Franz Beckenbauer.

Stones signed a five-and-a-half-year deal with Everton on January 31, 2013, for a reported price of £3 million. He was an unused substitute in three Premier League matches that season, beginning on 10 February in a 2–0 defeat at Old Trafford to Manchester United.

On August 28, 2013, he made his debut for Everton against Stevenage in the League Cup second round, winning 2–1 after extra time at Goodison Park. In September 2013, he made his league debut as a late replacement for Steven Naismith in a 1–0 home win against Chelsea. On January 1, 2014, he made his Premier League debut for Everton in a 1–1 draw against Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium.

Stones signed a new five-year contract extension with Everton on August 7, 2014. On October 5, he suffered an ankle injury against Manchester United, which sidelined him for 10 to 14 weeks. Despite his injuries, Stones was named a Golden Boy 2014 Award contender, along with fellow Everton winger Gerard Deulofeu and England internationals Calum Chambers, Luke Shaw, and eventual winner Raheem Sterling.

Later years at Everton

Stones was sent off in Everton’s 4–1 away win against Young Boys in the UEFA Europa League last 32 on February 19, 2015, after surrendering a penalty kick with a foul on Guillaume Hoarau, who went on to miss the penalty attempt.

On April 26, 2015, he scored his first goal for Everton in a 3–0 home triumph over Manchester United, heading in the team’s second goal of the game.

Stones was allegedly the subject of three proposals from Chelsea in July and August 2015, totaling £20 million, £26 million, and £30 million, all of which were rejected by Everton. Stones was said to have submitted a request to leave Everton, but this was also denied. He fouled Stoke City’s Marko Arnautovi in extended time at the end of a home encounter on December 28, resulting in a penalty from which the same player scored the game-winning goal in a 4–3 triumph.

Manchester City: 2016-2017

On August 9, 2016, Manchester City finalised the acquisition of Stones for £47.5 million on a six-year contract with a potential further £2.5 million in add-ons, making him the world’s second most expensive defender in history, trailing only David Luiz.

The news came shortly after his arrival was leaked, having been featured in City’s Champions League play-off round squad registration list, which UEFA had released on their website prior to the move’s confirmation. Barnsley gained £6.78 million from Stones’ sale to Manchester City, which was more than any transfer sum they had received in club history, thanks to a 15% sell-on clause.

John Stones made his City debut four days later, in a 2–1 home win against Sunderland, partnering Aleksandar Kolarov in Pep Guardiola’s first competitive game in command. On January 6, 2017, he scored his first goal for the Citizens, heading the winning goal in a 5–0 FA Cup third-round triumph over West Ham United at London Stadium.

He scored again on 21 February to give them a 5–3 comeback win against Monaco in the UEFA Champions League last 16, although after losing the tie on away goals, he expressed his displeasure with the team’s defence.

Stones’ performances during the season drew criticism from the media. John Stones scored twice in a 4–0 Champions League group win away to Feyenoord on September 13, 2017, including a second-minute header that was City’s quickest goal in the competition’s history.

He added another goal on November 1 in a 4–2 victory over Napoli, advancing his club to the last 16 with two games remaining. Seventeen days later, he departed from a match against Leicester City after half an hour due to a hamstring injury that would keep him out for the following six weeks.

2018-2022

John Stones had another injury while on international duty in March 2018, and Guardiola angrily disputed newspaper reports that he was considering to trade the defender in April.

He had a muscular injury in training in September 2019. Stones scored the first goal in a 0–2 away triumph at Old Trafford against Manchester United in the League Cup semi-final on January 6, 2021. He was awarded Man of the Match and received high acclaim from boss Pep Guardiola following a string of outstanding defensive efforts alongside Ruben Dias.

Stones was named Manchester City Player of the Month for December 2020 just one day later. He scored his first and second Premier League goals for City on January 17, 2021, in a 4–0 home win over Crystal Palace.

John Stones signed a new deal with City on August 10, 2021, keeping him at the club until 2026.

On 13 August 2013, he made his under-21s debut against Scotland, playing the complete 90 minutes of England’s 6–0 triumph at Bramall Lane.

He was named as a standby player for England’s 2014 FIFA World Cup team, however he was not selected. Stones made his England debut on 30 May, replacing Everton colleague Leighton Baines for the final 15 minutes of England’s 3–0 friendly triumph over Peru at Wembley.

John Stones earned his England debut against Norway at Wembley Stadium on September 3, 2014. Stones made his competitive debut five days later in England’s opening match of UEFA Euro 2016 qualifying, a 2–0 victory away to Switzerland at St. Jakob-Park, Basel.

2016-22

He was included to England’s 23-man team for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Stones scored his first two international goals in a 6–1 triumph against Panama in the tournament’s second group stage encounter on June 24.

He became the first Manchester City player since Trevor Francis in 1982 to score for England in a World Cup final.

John Stones committed a mistake in the semi-final versus the Netherlands at the 2019 UEFA Nations League Finals in Portugal, giving possession to Memphis Depay in extra time, which led to one of England’s three goals.

Stones’ blunder was due to exhaustion, according to manager Gareth Southgate, who pulled him from the third-place match against Switzerland. He was chosen to England’s team for UEFA Euro 2020.

Life Journey

Marquinhos (born Marcos Aoas Correa) was born on the 14th day of May 1994 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. His mother Alina Aoas and his father Marcos Barros Correa gave birth to him. Marquinhos grew up in Sao Paulo, which is best known as the capital of Brazilian soccer.

For decades, the sport has determined the lifestyle of the city’s residents, including Marquinhos’ mother who watched matches at Arena Corinthians even while she was pregnant with the football prodigy. Therefore, it is not surprising that Baby Marquinhos began playing football as soon as he could walk.

Marquinhos was drawn to football as a child growing up in a middle-class family with his brother Luan Aoas and sister Riama Aoas. A primary motivation was not to meet his family’s financial needs but to fulfill what he recognized early on as his life’s purpose.

Marquinhos told Le Parisien in May 2015 that he had become engaged to Carol Cabrino, a Brazilian singer and reality television contestant. She was surprised by a proposal underneath the Eiffel Tower. In 2016, they were married in a civil ceremony. In the late afternoon of 1 November 2017, Cabrino went early into labor while watching Marquinhos play a Champions League match against Anderlecht at the Parc des Princes. In December 2019, the couple welcomed their first child.

He tested positive for COVID-19 in September 2020. On 14 March 2021, Marquinhos’ parents were robbed during a match between PSG and Nantes. Angel Di Maria, his teammate, was in a similar situation, as his family was taken, hostage.

  • When the club won the 2012 Copa Libertadores Finals against Boca Juniors, he was an unused substitute in six games in the national championship.

Roma

  • Brazilian footballer Marquinhos was signed by Italian club Roma from Corinthians in July 2012. Initially, he was on a one-year loan for €1.5 million, rising to €3 million once he made eight first-team appearances with at least 45 minutes each.
  • As a result, he played under the name “Marcos” on his jersey to avoid confusion with teammate Marquinho.
  • The Portuguese midfielder made his debut on 16 September in a defeat to Bologna at the Stadio Olimpico, being introduced by Zdenek Zeman to replace Iván Piris in the final 15 minutes of the match.
  • By October, Zeman paired Marquinhos for his speed with former Corinthians teammate and fellow Brazillian Leandro Castán in central defense, demoting former starter Nicolás Burdisso to the bench. On 22 December, he gave a straight red card to Stephan El Shaarawy after denying him a clear goalscoring opportunity against Milan.
  • Marquinhos played 26 games in Serie A in his only season, and four in the Coppa Italia. Roma lost 0-1 to Rome rivals, Lazio, in the final on 26 May while playing all 90 minutes at right-back.

Paris Saint-Germain

  • Marquinhos signed a five-year contract with Paris Saint-Germain on 19 July 2013 for a fee of 31.4 million euros. As reported by BBC Sport, this was then the highest transfer fee for a teenager, but Sky Sports reports it as the fifth-highest, and Le 10 Sports reports it as the third-highest.
  • The transfer has been described as the fifth most expensive transfer of all time for a defender after those of Rio Ferdinand, Thiago Silva, Lilian Thuram, and Dani Alves.
  • Due to anomalies in his medical exam, Marquinhos missed the team’s pre-season trip to Sweden.
  • The mother of the player said he had caught a virus, and PSG denied claims in the Parisien that he had hepatitis. • According to Nasser Al-Khelaifi, “the biggest European clubs were interested in Marquinhos, so this contract extension reinforces Paris Saint-Germain’s ambitious long-term plans.”
  • In an all-Brazilian defense (along with Thiago Silva, Maxwell and David Luiz), Marquinhos scored the equalizer in PSG’s 3–2 win at Marseille in Le Classique.
  • A day later, he started in the 4–0 win over Bastia in the 2015 Coupe de la Ligue, his 34th consecutive game without being beaten for the club, surpassing the previous record of George Weah.

PSG won all four domestic trophies for the second consecutive season.
  • In August, Marquinhos missed PSG’s victory in the 2016 Trophée des Champions due to his selection in the Brazilian Olympic team. Jonathan Johnson of ESPN predicted he would play more frequently this season since a new manager, Unai Emery, sold David Luiz back to Chelsea.
  • During a 5–1 win at Marseille on 26 February 2017, he scored his first goal of the season; prior to the match, he confirmed that he was in talks for a new contract with the club.
  • He scored the last goal in a 5–0 win over title rivals Monaco in the Coupe de France semi-finals on 26 April, and he started alongside Silva in a 1–0 win over Anger a month later in the final. On 14 May, Marquinhos said he had a “100%” chance of remaining at the club next season.
  • Marquinhos began the 2017–18 season as PSG won 2–1 in the 2017 Trophée des Champions at the Grand Stade de Tanger in Morocco on 29 July.
  • In the team’s exciting run in the Coupe de la Ligue last season, he scored in the 3–2 semi-final win over Rennes on 30 January 2018 but was left out of the 3–0 final win over Monaco as the young national Presnel Kimpembe was substituted. During the season, PSG won all four domestic competitions, and Marquinhos told Le Figaro that he would stay with the club.

  • On 9 August, he made his Newcastle debut as the team opened the season with a 2–2 draw against Southampton at St James’ Park, playing the final 15 minutes in place of Papiss Cissé. 22 seconds into his debut, he was booked for a foul on Matt Targett.
  • Twenty days later, he was sent off in the 15th minute of a 1–0 loss at home to Arsenal for fouling Francis Coquelin. Mitrović scored his first Newcastle goal against Manchester City on 3 October, opening the scoring in a 6–1 defeat.
  • Against Sunderland in the Tyne-Wear derby, he headed the equalizer in a 1-1 draw on 20 March 2016. Mitrović was booked for taking off his shirt in celebration, and a fan who ran onto the pitch to join in the celebration was banned.
  • Two Aleksandar Mitrović goals, including a penalty, led Norwich City to a 3–2 defeat on 2 April. With Newcastle United already relegated, Mitrović scored the second goal in a 5–1 win over third-place Tottenham Hotspur but was also sent off for a shin-high challenge on Kyle Walker. In the history of the Premier League, he is the sixth player to score a goal, assist a goal, and get sent off in the same game.
  • Having been suspended for the first four matches of the season for that red card, Mitrović made his EFL Cup debut against Cheltenham on 23 August but left the match with a head injury.
  • Mitrović made his Championship debut on 13 September, scoring the fifth goal in a 6–0 win against Queens Park Rangers to score his first goal of the 2016–17 season.
  • In the EFL Cup quarterfinals, he scored a brace and had an assist in a 6–0 win over Preston North End. At the same time, Mitrović made his first league start since Deepdale, and he scored twice in a 2–1 victory against the same opposition.
  • Despite losing playing time to summer signing Dwight Gayle, Mitrović remained optimistic, saying “maybe last season I played more, but we are in good shape”, as Newcastle topped the table on 18 October.
  • Aleksandar Mitrović started the third-round match against Birmingham City on 7 January 2017, but he was injured in the buildup to Daryl Murphy’s opening goal.
  • Mitrović scored the only goal in a win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on 11 February. He was, however, substituted at half-time as a precaution as he had been booked earlier in the match and could have been sent off for a challenge on Carl Ikeme.
  • Television cameras caught him elbowing West Ham’s Manuel Lanzini in the head on 30 August, and he was suspended for three matches.
  • Aleksandar Mitrović returned to the matchday squad after being suspended for the previous two matches in an eventual 1–0 win over Crystal Palace on 21 October. He came on as a 78th-minute substitute for Joselu to what was described as a “still surprising heroes welcome”, but his first touch almost allowed Palace’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek to take the lead for the visitors.
  • In mid-December, Mitrović was ruled out with a back injury, putting him on the sidelines for the rest of the month and into January. Mitrović stated in the Serbian sports daily Zurnal toward the end of December that he expected to leave the club in the January transfer window “to find the best solution for my career”.

Fulham

  • The Championship club Fulham signed Mitrović on loan until the end of the season on 1 February. Mitrović was poised to join Bordeaux and then former club Anderlecht during the run-up to deadline day, but both moves fell through, and after a chat with their manager, fellow Serb Slavisa Jokanovic on Snapchat, he decided to join Fulham.
  • Mitrović made his west London debut for the club in a 2–0 win over Nottingham Forest on 3 February. His headed effort was cleared off the line by Joe Worrall.
  • Mitrović scored his first goal for the club in a 1-1 draw against Bristol City on 21 February, starting a run of six goals in four matches.
  • Mitrović scored five goals during Fulham’s six matches in April, including goals against Sheffield Wednesday and Sunderland. He was the back-to-back Championship Player of the Month in March and April due to his outstanding performances.
  • Aleksandar Mitrović finished the campaign with twelve goals, four behind top scorer Ryan Sessegnon, as Fulham missed out on automatic promotion when they lost 3–1 to Birmingham City on the final day; their first league loss of the calendar year.
  • Aleksandar Mitrović signed for Fulham permanently on 30 July for an initial fee of £22 million, which could rise to £27 million. He signed a five-year contract until June 2023.
  • An inventive header from a low cross by Sessegnon earned him the equalizer in an eventual 3–1 loss to Tottenham Hotspur on 18 August. Mitrović scored three goals in Fulham’s next two matches against Burnley and Brighton & Hove Albion, though his handball resulted in a penalty for Brighton, which Glenn Murray converted.
  • Mitrović scored twice in Claudio Ranieri’s first match in charge, a 3–2 win over Southampton on 24 November, ending a run of six straight league games without a goal.
  • Mitrović argued with Aboubakar Kamara about taking a penalty against Huddersfield Town on 29 December; Kamara’s effort was saved by Jonas Lössl. He scored the only goal of the match eight minutes later. Ranieri was enraged by Kamara’s decision to take the penalty, but Mitrović was more forgiving, referring to a similar incident he had while playing for Newcastle United.
  • Kamara had another altercation with Mitrović during a yoga session at the club’s training ground in January 2019, which led to a series of events that saw the Frenchman leave on loan.
  • Mitrović scored a brace against Brighton & Hove Albion on 29 January. The second goal he scored was his tenth of the season, and he surpassed his previous best of nine goals in the Premier League. The goal was also his twentieth Premier League goal, and at that point, he had scored five goals under each of his last four managers: McClaren, Benitez, Jokanovic, and Ranieri.
  • He extended his deal until June 2024 by signing a new five-year contract on 9 July. Mitrović started the season strongly, scoring five goals in six matches.

  • In Fulham’s 3–2 home win over Huddersfield Town on 1 February, he scored Fulham’s third goal. As a result, he scored another four goals during the month, culminating in a stoppage-time winner over Swansea City, despite having his penalty saved by Freddie Woodman in the 89th minute.
  • Mitrović did not play for Fulham until the Championship resumed in June, and was retrospectively banned for three games for elbowing Ben White in a 3–0 loss to Leeds United.
  • Mitrović returned to the team on 10 July, winning and converting a penalty in a 2–0 victory over Cardiff City. Mitrović scored twice and assisted Bobby Decordova-Reid in Fulham’s 5–3 win over Sheffield Wednesday on 18 July to keep their slim hopes of automatic promotion alive.
  • In the 2018–19 season, the club also lost on the final day, drawing 1–1 with Wigan Athletic. Mitrović finished the season with 26 goals, alongside Brentford’s Ollie Watkins; he won the physical award as he scored the same amount of goals in fewer minutes than Watkins. The club’s supporters named him their Player of the Season on 3 September.
  • On 19 September 2020, Mitrović scored his first goals of the season in a 4–3 loss to Leeds. He then went on a scoring drought that lasted until April 2021, in a 3–1 loss to Aston Villa.
  • When he had a penalty opportunity against Sheffield United in October, he hit his effort off the crossbar. Later in the game, he conceded a penalty when he tackled Jack Robinson, resulting in Billy Sharp scoring the equalizer.
  • As a result, Mitrović missed much of the season due to tactical changes (where he was kept out by Ivan Cavaleiro and Ademola Lookman), various injuries, as well as testing positive for COVID-19. Mitrović was reinstated into Fulham’s starting lineup by new manager Marco Silva in August, and he scored four goals in four consecutive matches.
  • On the last day of the month, he again extended his contract until the summer of 2026. After a stellar start to the season, he continued to score goals in October, earning him Player of the Month honors.

Perhaps the nine-year-old Dern found stronghold by studying acting at the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute.
