Life Journey
Woodgram presents the full story of a football genius, better known as ‘The Wig’. Carlos Bacca’s Biography provides a comprehensive account of noteworthy events from his childhood until the present.
In the analysis, a number of OFF-Pitch facts (little known about him) are revealed, including his life before fame, his family background, his romantic life, and other OFF-Pitch aspects of his life. Despite his prolific goalscoring record, few are aware of Carlos Bacca’s biography, which is an interesting read. Let us begin now without further ado.
Carlos Bacca Childhood Life And Family Background
To begin with, Carlos Arturo Bacca Ahumada was born on the 8th of September 1986 in Puerto, Colombia. At the time of Carlos’ birth, his father, Gilberto Bacca, was a fisherman and his mother, Eloisa Ahumada, was involved in the sale of fish.
Having grown up in Puerto, Carlos had a challenging start to life as a result of his parents’ poverty. In order to ensure the welfare of his family, he had to accompany his father fishing in order to fulfill his quota.
In spite of Gilberto’s recognition of Young Bacca’s early sense of responsibility, he wanted him to focus on football, a sport he had a natural affinity for in his childhood. On the other hand, Carlos’ mother observed his affinity for football months before he took his first steps. In an interview conducted 28 years later, she recalled how destiny beckoned to her son:
Since he was three, he was obsessed with the ball (soccer). We bought him cars, but he refused to use them.
Being aware of what the future held for their child was essential, as was positioning him so that opportunity met preparedness. Consequently, they enrolled him in school, but Carlos always found a way to devote the majority of his time to football.
How Did Carlos Bacca Enter And Make His Identity In The World Of Football?
When Carlos Bacca was nine, his parents enrolled him in a local football academy. In the academy, Carlos’ dedication to football caught the attention of his instructor, Rafael Reyes, who described Carlos’ passion for the game years later:
He trained himself by staying with a couple of other kids and doing head crosses and scissors kicks.
As Carlos’ passion grew for the next seven years, he produced remarkable results that led him to be accepted into Atlético Junior in 2006. There was also Luis Diaz who played there. His parents, who had always wanted the best for their son, were delighted with the move.
Atlético Junior’s youth team foray did not go as well as expected for the forward. In order to address his rapidly diminishing finances, he began working as a bus driver assistant (a side job).
Also, he had to take care of his parents, who had done enough to support him. After a period of time, he returned to fishing when things became difficult. Over the following years, he was loaned to several clubs, including Barranquilla FC and Minervén, where he established himself as one of the top strikers in the region.
His return to Atlético Junior resulted in him being promoted to the first team. He was also the highest goal scorer in the 2009 Copa Colombia, as well as the highest goal scorer in the 2010 and 2011 Category Primera A, giving Atlético Junior its sixth and seventh Colombian title. As they say, the rest is history.
Carlos Bacca’s Wife – Shariya Santiago
Due to his religious disposition, Carlos has not been involved in previous relationships. This may also explain why, after his first relationship, he married his wife Shariya Santiago in 2010.
The couples did not take photographs at their weddings, but they do not hesitate to take photographs when they are out and about. Considering the football genius’s sheer will and determination, it is not surprising that he has remained married for eight years without controversy.
He has two children, a daughter, Karla Valentina Bacca, and a son, Carlos Daniel Bacca.
In Jul 2022 Carlos Bacca signed a contract with Atlético Junior FC that netted him a whopping salary of £986,550 per year. We have crunched the numbers, this means he earns £2,710 per day and £113 per hour!

Carlos Bacca’s Aggression Against Neymar
At the end of the Brazil-Colombia Copa América game in 2015, Carlos’ parents seemed to have raised him in a disciplined manner.
After Brazil’s 1-0 loss to Colombia, Neymar attempted to headbutt Jeison Murillo (for reasons best known to him). In response to Neymar’s unruly behavior, Carlos Pushed him down.
Later, Carlos’ mother reacted to the brawl in a way that revealed a lot about his upbringing. First, she sided with Carlos:
“I felt angry and helpless. If I had been in the stadium, I would have taken off my heels and hit Neymar; many women would have joined me.”
Carlos Bacca’s Nickname
Since his childhood, Carlos Bacca has been known by a funny nickname. Here is what he has to say about his strange nickname:
It is my nickname ‘El Peluca’ (The Wig). My head was full of hair when I was a child. If you referred to me as Carlos in my town, no one would know it’s me, but if you asked for “El Peluca,” everyone would point you to me.”
Personality And Religion
In the face of adversity, Barca demonstrates the virtues of humility, patience, and steadfastness.
Initially, football did not present me with opportunities. I played and played, but the opportunity was not forthcoming.
A Colombian who played his first professional game at the age of 23 never forgets the humble beginnings that led him to the position he holds today.
As for my debut, I was booed when I was introduced. No one knew who I was, but the first two balls I touched were goals, which forever changed the course of my life.
It is my belief that God exists and I love him with all my heart. He allowed me the opportunity to play soccer and for that, each time I score, I raise my arms to the heavens.”
As a result of his footballing skills, he has achieved a great deal in life. As a forward, he is well known for his renowned pace, aggression, eye for goal, and determination. Carlos leads a fine and simple lifestyle without any sense of pride. His desire to join the Italian club, Roma, is indicative of his religious tolerance, as was the case with Yerry Mina.
His only requirement was to be close to the Pope despite belonging to a different religious denomination (Evangelical Christian Faith).
With his quickness, strength, aggression, and striking accuracy as a forward, Bacca is renowned for his pace, strength, agility, and first touch.
In addition to being a prolific goal scorer, he is also known for his speed, technique, and dribbling skills, which enable him to defeat opponents or create space for himself in the area.
In addition to his use of tricks and feints, such as the rabona, he has also scored some spectacular goals using tricks and feints. Moreover, he is adept at finishing with both his head and feet in the air.
As a result of his time at Sevilla under manager Unai Emery, Bacca enhanced his mentality, work rate, and defensive skills.
During his time with Milan, Bacca suffered from a difficult relationship with his manager Vincenzo Montella due to his low defensive and creative contributions, as well as his limited ability to move off the ball.
The media praised Bacca’s goalscoring record, ability to make attacking runs, and his goal-per-minute ratio at the club, often requiring fewer touches and opportunities to score.
However, despite his ability to score and finish goals, some of his performances were criticized for the overall quality of his performances.
As a result of Bacca’s tendency to primarily operate within the penalty box, not contribute to the buildup of attacking moves, and not create chances for himself, he was frequently criticized. When Milan struggled to create chances, this resulted in him being isolated from his team’s overall play.
Compared to former Milan striker Filippo Inzaghi, Bacca’s positional sense, goalscoring ability, opportunism, and tendency to play off the last defender and receive offside calls, as well as his limited work rate off the ball, drew comparisons.
After reading his biography, you will agree with me that Carlos Bacca worked so hard to achieve success. Even poor kids from the slum can dream big and achieve their dreams thanks to him.
It is important to note that his father and mother were key catalysts in his success story. His career life would not be the same without their contributions. They deserve all the accolades for what they have done.
In addition, his sibling’s and friends’ efforts should not be overlooked. As a result of them, he never experienced loneliness or depression during his childhood. Carlos Bacca has grown into a cheerful youth as a result of them.
Here Is An Appreciation Note For Your Consideration
Thank you for reading this engaging article about the life journey of the Colombian footballer. Hopefully, Carlos Bacca’s childhood story has made you believe that patience and persistence can overcome anything.

Alves acquired Spanish citizenship during his years in Spain, enabling him to bypass non-EU quota restrictions and to play in any EU country without a work permit.
SporTV reported on 1 August 2007 that Alves wanted to leave Sevilla for a European giant, and Marca reported that Alves reaffirmed his desire to leave Sevilla, saying he was flattered by Chelsea’s interest and that he could never turn down an opportunity like this.
Barcelona
Barcelona signed Alves on 2 July 2008, leaving Sevilla in tears and saying he would love to play for the club again. He said he came to Sevilla as a boy and he was leaving as a man. In total, Alves’ transfer to Barcelona cost £23 million, with approximately £7 million more pending on various performance-related factors over the next few seasons, making him one of the most expensive defenders in history and the third-most-expensive player purchased by Barça.
The club offered him a four-year contract with a €90 million buyout clause. He made his competitive and European debuts for Barcelona against Wisla Kraków in the 2008-09 UEFA Champions League third round qualifier on 13 August 2008.
In the Liga season-opener against Numancia on 31 August 2008, he made his La Liga debut. In 2011–12, Alves was a member of a Barcelona team that won the Copa del Rey and the Club World Cup. In 2012–13, Alves won the Liga title for the fourth time in his five seasons with Barça.
In 2013-14, Alves wore shirt number 22, formerly worn by Eric Abidal to whom he offered to donate part of his liver during Abidal’s treatment for liver cancer.
Alves started for Barça in the 2015 Champions League final, as the club won its fifth European Cup by beating Juventus at the Olympiastadion in Berlin on 6 June 2015.
Alves signed a two-year contract with Barcelona on 9 June 2015, keeping him at the club until 30 June 2017, with the option of extending his contract.
Barcelona lost to Atlético Madrid in the 2015–16 quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League, and Alves recorded a “bizarre” video in which he impersonated his wife consoling him for the defeat, and posted it on Instagram. Enrique then dropped Alves from the match against Valencia.
Roberto Fernández, Barcelona’s technical secretary, announced Alves is leaving Barcelona after eight years in June 2016. Alves, who was under contract until 30 June 2017, had a clause in his contract allowing him to leave as a free agent.
Juventus
Juventus announced the signing of Alves on 27 June 2016, with an option for a third year. In Serie A, he made his Juventus debut on 20 August with a 2–1 home win over Fiorentina.
In a 4–0 home win over Cagliari on 21 September, Alves scored his first Juventus goal, and six days later he opened his Champions League account for the club against Dinamo Zagreb.

Alves scored one goal and assisted another for Mario Mandzukic in Juventus’ 2–1 win over Monaco on 9 May to qualify for the 2017 Champions League final. Six days earlier, Alves had assisted Gonzalo Higuain on both goals in the first leg of the tie at The Stade Louis II.
In the 2017 Coppa Italia Final, Alves scored the opening goal in a 2–0 win over Lazio.

On 29 June 2017, Alves’ contract with Juventus was terminated by mutual consent. During his one season in Turin, he won the Serie A title and Coppa Italia, making 33 appearances in total.
Paris Saint-Germain
Alves joined Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer on 12 July 2017 and signed a two-year contract. He made his debut for the club on 29 July in the 2017 Trophée des Champions as he scored once and assisted the winner for Adrien Rabiot against Monaco in a 2–1 victory.
Alves assisted Edinson Cavani on PSG’s first goal of the 2017–18 Ligue 1 campaign in a 2–0 win over Amiens at the Parc des Princes on 5 August.

On 28 August 2018, Alves posted on his Instagram page that his squad number has changed from 32 to 13 in tribute to Brazilian legend and four-time World Cup winner Mário Zagallo.
Following the expiration of his contract with the club on 30 June 2019, Alves became a free agent.
São Paulo
S*o Paulo announced on 1 August 2019 that Dani Alves had signed a contract that runs until December 2022. As a lifelong supporter of Sao Paulo, Alves had previously expressed his desire to play for the club.
Upon his arrival, Alves received the number 10 shirt. After making his debut on 18 August 2019, he scored the only goal in a 1–0 league win over Ceará at the Morumbi. Despite being a right-back throughout his career, he mostly played in central midfield at So Paulo during Fernando Diniz’s tenure between 2019 and 2021.
Upon his arrival, he was also appointed first-team captain. In 2021, new manager Hernán Crespo reverts Alves back to a defensive role, playing him as a right wingback. He also handed the captain’s armband to Miranda, who was returning to the club after a decade.
A month later, he won his only title with the club and the 42nd of his career, the Campeonato Paulista, ending Sao Paulo’s 8-year trophyless streak.
As a result of an unpaid image rights dispute, Alves’ representatives informed Sao Paulo on 10 September 2021 that he would no longer train and subsequently play for the club. After six days, his contract was terminated.
Return to Barcelona
Barcelona announced an agreement in principle to sign Alves until the end of the season on 12 November 2021. He would only be available for the team’s matches starting on 3 January 2022.

Alves was named to Brazil’s squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup on home soil on 7 May 2014. Poor performances cost him his position as a starter during the competition. Alves started for both the 2015 and Centenario Copa América tournaments under Dunga. Following the appointment of Tite, he helped Brazil qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, but was ruled out of the tournament due to a knee injury suffered in the 2018 Coupe de France Final.

Controversy
During a match at Villarreal’s stadium, El Madrigal, on 27 April 2014, Villarreal supporter David Campaya Lleo threw a banana at Alves. Alves picked up the banana, peeled it, and bit into it. His response was:
“We have suffered this in Spain for some time. You have to take it with a dose of humor. We aren’t going to change things easily. If you don’t give it importance, they don’t achieve their objective.”
Neymar responded by posting a photo of himself eating a banana on social media. Many other footballers have since posted photos of themselves eating bananas. Cyrille Regis, who was racially abused on the field during the 1970s and 1980s, expressed concern that the viral campaign would detract from the important issue of combatting racism.
The man who threw the banana at Alves has been arrested in connection with the incident, which occurred on 30 April 2014. Villereal was later fined €12,000 for the incident.

Thomson became chairman of Thomson Reuters following the acquisition of Reuters in 2008. Thomson is the fourth richest person in Canada as of May 2022, with an estimated net worth of $33 billion.David Thomson
He was born on June 12, 1957, in Toronto, Ontario, to Kenneth Thomson, 2nd Baron Thomson of Fleet and Marilyn Lavis. He has a sister named Taylor Thomson and a racing brother named Peter Thomson. Thomson graduated from Selwyn College, Cambridge, with a Bachelor of Arts (later advanced to an MA (Cantab)) in History in 1978. He attended both Upper Canada College and the Hall School as a kid.
Personal Life
Thomson has six children from four different moms. He has two children with his first wife, Mary Lou La Prairie: Thyra Nicole and Tessa Lys. Thomson has one son, Benjamin, with his second wife, Laurie Ludwick, who was born after Thomson left the marriage. Thomson has a daughter with actress Kelly Rowan. Thomson has two children, Ottilie, born in 2015, and Elodie, born in 2018, with his partner Severine Nackers, a Sotheby’s employee in London. His two youngest children reside with their parents. Thomson had been separated from his eldest daughter, Thyra, for five years, and Thyra finally sued Thomson for mishandling of the family trusts. In 2017, the matter was resolved out of court. Thomson has three children who live in London, where he owns multiple properties. Thomson is an Art Gallery of Ontario patron. With his father’s death, he became the 3rd Baron Thomson of Fleet on June 12, 2006, his 49th birthday. In Canada, he does not use this title. He is an ardent art collector who possesses the world’s largest collection of John Constable paintings. Thomson has given few news interviews and has kept a modest public presence. According to a July 3, 2006, New York Times story, “the only extensive interview he has given was to James FitzGerald, who authored a book on the exclusive private school (Upper Canada College) they both attended in Toronto.” “David had little favourable to say about many people in the business sector 12 years ago in his comments to Mr FitzGerald.” Thomson stated in the interview: “Traditional business people say you’re not a true man if you strive to live a more balanced life. But who isn’t a true man? What are you saying? You haven’t spent a weekend with your wife, you don’t have any extra time that you utilise productively, you don’t have any hobbies, and you can’t spell Mozart. And now you’re telling me I’m weak?” Thomson lives alone in a private apartment that also has an underground art gallery in Toronto’s Rosedale neighbourhood.
Thomson earned a Bachelor of Arts (later progressed to an MA (Cantab)) in history from Selwyn College in Cambridge in 1978. When he was younger, he attended Upper Canada College and the Hall School.
David Thomson Family
Herbert Thomson, David’s great-grandfather, was a telegrapher who eventually became a hairdresser as a vocation. Hugh Thomson and Mary Nichol Sylvester were his parents. Herbert married Alice Coombs, a British-born woman. They had children together, one of whom, David’s grandpa, rose to fame. David’s grandfather was Roy Herbert Thomson, 1st Baron Thomson of Fleet, the man behind the Thomson publishing company. He began by selling radios and quickly went on to the newspaper publishing industry. He married and had three children, Kenneth, Irma, and Audrey, all of whom inherited stock in the firm. Kenneth Thomson, 2nd Baron Thomson of Fleet, David’s father, was Roy Thomson’s oldest child. After his father died, he inherited the Thomson family business and developed it to new heights. In 1956, he married Nora Marilyn Lavis, with whom he had two boys, David and Peter, and one daughter, Lesley. David is their eldest son. David has already been married and divorced twice in his life. In 1998, he married Mary Lou La Prairie, with whom he had two kids. He has one son with his second wife, Laurie Ludwick. His second marriage also ended in a painful divorce. Following that, he became engaged to Kelly Rowan, a well-known actress, and she gave birth to their daughter soon before they decided to divorce. Following his divorce with Rowan, David briefly dated Severine Nackers, with whom he purportedly had a kid.
Thomson began his business career in Toronto as a junior associate at McLeod Young Weir. He left the firm to work in the Thomson family’s business, holding a variety of positions in enterprises managed by the Thomson family. Thomson was the manager of The Bay at Cloverdale Mall in Etobicoke, as well as the president of Zellers. Thomson established the real estate business Osmington Incorporated, which was owned and operated independently of the Thomson empire, in order to build his independence. Osmington buys and manages commercial real estate properties on behalf of institutional investors including the Thomson family. Osmington sold a $336 million stake in eight retail assets to the Canada Pension Plan in 2010. FarmersEdge, a precision agricultural firm, is a key investor in Osmington. Osmington is also a partner in True North Sports and Entertainment, which owns the Winnipeg Jets of the National Hockey League and the Canada Life Centre in downtown Winnipeg, Manitoba. Osmington is redeveloping Union Station’s retail space in Toronto. Thomson’s investing operations are managed by Morgan Bay Capital, a hedge fund based in Toronto. When Kenneth Thomson died (in June 2006), control of the family money was transferred to David, according to a plan prepared decades previously by Thomson Corporation founder Roy Thomson. Thomson voiced dissatisfaction with working in the family firm following the sale of a majority interest in Thomson Reuters’ banking sector in 2018. He is now in talks with family members about leaving the family firm, Thomson Reuters, to focus on his own art and real estate ventures.”David, my grandson, and David’s son will have to take their turn in administering the Organization,” Roy Thomson stated in his autobiography in 1975. “Responsibility comes with the riches we will be leaving them. Even if they try, the Thomson boys who follow Ken will not be able to avoid these duties.”
Thomson Reuters
David Thomson Art Collection
Thomson is a well-known art collector, with works by Rembrandt, J. M. W. Turner, Paul Klee, Hammershoi, Edvard Munch, Patrick Heron, Joseph Beuys, E. L. Kirchner, and Egon Schiele in his collection. Thomson is the owner of the world’s biggest collection of John Constable paintings and sketches. Thomson told Geraldine Norman of The Independent in 1994 that he acquired his first Constable sketch at the age of 19, offering the purchaser “an oil painting in exchange and quite a lot of money.” Norman regarded him as a “fanatical collector,” while Thomson noted how, as a boy, he “fell in love” with Constable’s manner. Thomson, when in his twenties, astonished the art world with two huge acquisitions. In 1984, he paid a record £7.3 million (£21.8 million in 2017) for J. M. W. Turner’s stunning “Seascape: Folkestone” from the auction of the collection of prominent British art historian Kenneth Clark, Lord Clark. Thomson, 27, set another world record the following year when he paid a record £561,000 (£1.7 million in 2017) for Rembrandt’s monumental “Christ Presented to the People” from 1655 at Christie’s London when the Duke of Devonshire sold the Chatsworth Collection is one of the largest auctions of the time. During the 1980s financial crisis, Thomson sold both masterpieces within a few years. Thomson and his father paid a world-record $76.7 million for Rubens’ “Massacre of the Innocents” in 2002, which is currently the centrepiece of the Thomson Collection at the Art Gallery of Ontario. Thomson broke records in 2012 when he paid the highest price ever for a Danish artist, “Ida Reading a Letter” by Danish artist Vilhelm Hammershi. Thomson paid £2.4 million for a tiny landscape by John Robert Cozens in 2012, breaking the record for the most expensive 18th-century British watercolour. Thomson has contributed up to $276 million toward the Art Gallery of Ontario’s refurbishment expenditures, in addition to establishing a permanent endowment with a $20 million commitment. Thomson is a frequent buyer of Canadian art. Thomson paid $1.8 million for a face mask in 2007, the most ever paid for a single item of Native North American art. In November 2016, he paid a record C$11.2 million for a painting by Group of Seven artist Lawren Harris titled “Mountain Forms” at auction. Thomson’s collecting efforts are managed through his own Thomson Works of Art. Thomson also contributes to the London-based Archive of Modern Conflict. The archive’s specialists buy photography collections all across the world and also manage a book publishing arm, AMC Books, which includes a Canadian imprint, Bone Idle Books, located in Toronto.
