However, her performance impressed the producers enough to make her role a regular one. She appeared on the show till January 2011. She returned to the series in 2015 for a special documentary celebrating the 30th anniversary of the show.
  • In 2011, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue a Hollywood career, and auditioned for the new series of ‘Charlie’s Angels’. Instead, she was offered the role of Laura Cameron, a newly trained flight attendant, in the ABC drama series ‘Pan Am’.
  • She got her first big movie role in 2012, in the romantic comedy film ‘About Time’. The movie, which released in 2013, featured Robbie alongside stars like Domhnall Gleeson, Rachel McAdams, and Bill Nighy.

  • It was followed by the action-adventure film ‘The Legend of Tarzan’, which released in July, and co-starred Alexander Skarsgard, Samuel L. Jackson, and Christoph Waltz. She played the female lead, Jane Porter.
  • In 2016, she played another major role, Harley Quinn, in the blockbuster supervillain movie, ‘Suicide Squad’.
  • The film, which starred actors like Will Smith, Jared Leto, Viola Davis, and Joel Kinnaman, received criticism for its muddled plot, but Robbie’s performance charmed most critics.

Margot Robbie Movies

Hollywood Breakthrough: ‘Wolf of Wall Street’

Few remember her debut film, the Australian-made I.C.U., a serial killer thriller shot when she was 17 and released in 2009. Richard Curtis’ time-travel rom-com About Time (2013), with Domhnall Gleeson and Rachel McAdams, made more of a splash. But it was her role as Naomi, Leonardo DiCaprio’s Brooklyn bombshell wife and “the Duchess of Bay Ridge,” in Martin Scorsese’s fact-based epic of financial flimflammery The Wolf of Wall Street (2013) that turned heads.

She also got attention for her small but standout role playing herself in The Big Short in 2015. The comedic scene involved her explaining mortgage-backed securities and subprime loans all the while floating in a tub of bubbles with champagne in hand.

Margot Robbie Movies: From ‘Focus’ to ‘Suicide Squad’ and ‘Birds of Prey’

Robbie co-starred with Will Smith in Focus (2015), as con artists who steal each other’s hearts. That same year she also starred in the sci-fi drama Z for Zachariah before re-teaming with Smith in the comics-based smash Suicide Squad (2016), with Robbie punkily attired as fan fave Harley Quinn, the psycho psychiatrist who is a muse to Jared Leto’s Joker. She told The Washington Post that diving into a vat of “gluggy paint stuff” to bleach Harley’s skin in one scene was “the most unpleasant thing I’ve ever done in my entire life,” and her spiky accouterment wasn’t exactly comfortable either.

Margot Robbie Birds of Prey

Robbie planned to reprise her popular characterization of Harley Quinn in Gotham City Sirens, though that project was shelved in favor of another spinoff, Birds of Prey, which co-starred Ewan McGregor and hit theaters in February 2020.

‘The Legend of Tarzan’ and ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’

Also in 2016, Robbie starred as Jane in The Legend of Tarzan, with Alexander Skarsgard, and the following year she played the wife of Winnie the Pooh author A.A. Milne in the historical drama Goodbye Christopher Robin. Robbie then landed in another high-profile project by portraying actress Sharon Tate, a real-life victim of the notorious Charles Manson-orchestrated murders of 1969, alongside DiCaprio and Brad Pitt in Quentin Tarantino’s 2019 feature Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

Playing Tonya Harding in ‘I, Tonya’

A three-year-old toddler when the 1994 Winter Olympics were held, Robbie had no idea who Harding was, or what the infamous “whacking incident” involving Nancy Kerrigan was all about. As co-producer of the black comedy I, Tonya (2017), Robbie dove headlong into the part, recreating her every gesture as closely as possible. She did meet Harding, though limited their time together to a couple of hours “otherwise I might have too much empathy for her,” she said after its premiere screening at the Toronto International Film Festival.

While Harding’s famous triple axel was recreated digitally, Robbie performed some of the skating routines on her own accord and impressed enough with her overall performance to earn Golden Globe and Academy Award nominations for Best Actress.

Controversies"Suppression of internet criticism in controversy, Allegations of corruption,Sanctions on him"

Early life and Education

Chust, a regional town in Uzbekistan, is where Usmanov was born. His father worked as a state prosecutor, therefore he spent his formative years in the nation’s capital, Tashkent. He eventually relocated to Moscow with the intention of pursuing a career as a diplomat. He was first rejected, but a year later he succeeded and was admitted to the Moscow State Institute of International Relations, where he earned a degree in international law and graduated in 1976. Usmanov subsequently left for Tashkent, where he was given the position of director of the Soviet Peace Committee’s Foreign Economic Association.

In August 1980, Usmanov was detained and later found guilty in the Uzbek SSR of fraud, corruption, and theft of public property—charges that included extorting an Army commander.

He served the first six years of an eight-year sentence in a seclusion Uzbek jail. In July 2000, nine years after the Soviet Union had fallen apart, the Supreme Court of Uzbekistan overturned his sentence after three decades, declaring that “the initial judgement was wrong, no crime was ever committed, and that the evidence was contrived.” Craig Murray, the British ambassador to Uzbekistan from 2002 to 2004, has contested his account of events. Years later, Usmanov’s public relations company attempted to remove from Wikipedia any mention of his conviction and incarceration.

In 1992, Muslim rhythmic gymnastics instructor Usmanov wed Jewish Irina Viner. As the person who introduced Putin to former rhythmic gymnast Alina Kabaeva, Viner is regarded as a close friend of Putin.

Alisher Usmanov Personal life

Usmanov doesn’t have any biological kids. Along with his wife Irina Viner, he has a stepson. The stepson is an investor in real estate who is now working on 30 different projects.

Usmanov purchased the Grade I listed Tudor palace Sutton Place for £10 million in 2004. It is situated on 120 hectares (300 acres) of land in Surrey. Businessman Boris Berezovsky said in 2012 that Usmanov received Sutton Place as part of a business arrangement; Usmanov refuted the assertion.

Usmanov paid £48 million to the Qatari Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani in 2008 for Beechwood House, a Grade II listed Regency home set on 4.5 hectares (11 acres) of gardens in the London borough of Highgate. Usmanov also has a home on the Sardinian island of Sardinia and a 12-hectare (30-acre) property in Moscow.

Alisher Usmanov Controversies

Suppression Of Internet Criticism In Controversy

The former British ambassador to Uzbekistan, Craig Murray, made reference to Usmanov’s criminal conviction on September 2, 2007, saying that Usmanov “was in no sense a political prisoner, but a gangster and racketeer who rightly did six years in jail” and that Usmanov’s pardon was the result of Uzbekistan President Islam Karimov acting on the orders of Uzbekistani power broker and suspected drug trafficker Gafur Rakhi Some media outlets were forced to retract their publications after receiving libel threats from Usmanov’s attorney’s Schillings. Murray continues to make the accusation.

The article was then taken down by Murray’s web server, purportedly at the request of Usmanov’s attorneys at the London law firm Schillings. Schillings then got in touch with independent blogs and websites, asking them to take down any mentions of Murray’s accusations and any copies of the blog post.

According to UK Indymedia, they were one of the websites that received a take-down notice on September 10 and again on September 21. For republishing Murray’s essay, Tim Ireland’s site, Bloggerheads.com, was shut down on September 20, 2007, which also resulted in the loss of blogs from Boris Johnson, an MP, and Bob Piper, a councilman, neither of whom had republished the piece themselves.

Kommersant

The weekly Kommersant Vlast magazine published an unfavourable article on Vladimir Putin on December 12, 2011, in response to protests in Russia about vote-rigging in the country’s parliamentary elections. The article was titled “Victory of United ballot-stuffers,” a play on Putin’s United Russia party.

Maxim Kovalsky, the editor, and Andrei Galiyev, the CEO of the publisher’s holding business, were fired by Usmanov for “ethical breaches” that “bordered on petty hooliganism,” he said. The subject of the debate was a picture of a ballot from a parliamentary vote that had “Putin, go fuck yourself” written over it in red ink. A correctly completed ballot was recognised as invalid, according to the caption.

The publisher of Kommersant, Demyan Kudryavtsev, took responsibility for the situation by quitting and writing in a blog post that the magazine issue had “violated internal policies, professional journalistic norms, and Russian legislation.”

Russian Union of Journalists general secretary Nadezhda Azhgihina was horrified by the episode and called it “a clear case of censorship from the owner.” 60 journalists from the Kommersant daily wrote an open letter to Usmanov on December 14 in which they complained that they were being forced to be cowards, which was worthless and counterproductive.

We see [Kovalsky’s] dismissal as an intimidation tactic intended to silence any criticism of Vladimir Putin. We find it particularly offensive when attempts are made to portray the firing of a guy from his job as a battle for the linguistic sanctity of the Russian language. This is the same sort of false information that enraged voters during the election.

Usmanov reacted by stating that “Kommersant Vlast is a reputable, independent, socio-political daily” but that “emotionally, I could understand the journalists speaking up for terminated top managers.” On the same day that he declared his bid for president in 2012, Mikhail Prokhorov made an offer to acquire Kommersant, but Usmanov turned it down.

Wikipedia

On November 12, 2012, the British newspaper The Times revealed that Usmanov had paid the London-based public relations company RLM Finsbury to modify Usmanov’s English Wikipedia entry to delete references to his criminal convictions and subsequent controversy.

The CEO of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations stressed that “public relations practitioners should not actively modify Wikipedia for a client or business” after the finding sparked a substantial outcry among PR experts in the UK. The PR agency admitted to their wrongdoing and said that their client had not given them permission to do so. According to reports, the data was deleted in anticipation of MegaFon, which Usmanov controls, being listed on the stock market.

Allegations Of Corruption

Senators from the United States Marco Rubio, Roger Wicker, Lindsey Graham, and Cory Gardner urged the previous administration of Donald Trump to impose sanctions against Usmanov for what they claim to be his corruption and bribery of Russian authorities.

Sanctions On Him

In response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, the European Union placed Usmanov on a blacklist on February 28, 2022, and froze all of his assets. Similar restrictions were imposed on him by the United States on March 3 with a few exclusions for his enterprises.

Usmanov was identified as a “pro-Kremlin oligarch with particularly strong relations to Russian President Vladimir Putin [who is] one of Vladimir Putin’s favourite oligarchs” in the Official Journal of the European Union, the official journal of the EU. A task team to locate oligarch funds in Germany was established by the German federal government in March 2022.

Several ministries and agencies are participating, including the Federal Criminal Police Office, the Ministry of Economics and Finance, the Financial Supervisory Agency BaFin, customs, and the Federal Intelligence Service (BND).

The task force’s authorities have been searching for Usmanov’s assets and property that may be frozen and secured. There are rumours that the oligarch owns a number of properties on the Bavarian Tegernsee. According to sources, the German Federal Criminal Police Office has uncovered 90 suspected money laundering complaints and 36 offshore corporations in relation to Usmanov alone.

The superyacht “Dilbar” was officially owned by Usmanov’s sister, Ismailova. In Hamburg, the ship was taken into custody. On the list of EU sanctions comes another sister of the magnate. Saodat Narzieva, a gynaecologist, is said to have been the beneficial owner of up to 27 accounts at the influential Swiss bank Credit Suisse, according to information from “Suisse Secrets.”

The Oligarch Who Backs Putin

Usmanov was identified as a “pro-Kremlin oligarch with particularly strong relations to Russian President Vladimir Putin” in the Official Journal of the European Union, which serves as the official journal of the EU. Added was: “It has been said that [Usmanov] is one of Vladimir Putin’s preferred oligarchs.

He is regarded as one of the businessmen-officials in Russia who were given the responsibility of managing money flows, although their positions are subject to the President’s whim.”

Early years

Prior to the fall of the Soviet Union, Usmanov amassed a million-dollar fortune. He established the privately held, for-profit cooperative Agroplast to manufacture plastic bags. After the fall of the USSR, he significantly increased his wealth.

From 1990 to 1994, Usmanov served as Intercross JSC’s deputy general director. From 1994 to 1998, he served as the company’s president. In addition, from 1994 to 1995, he worked as the General Director of the Moscow Aviation Industrial Enterprise’s advisor. From 1995 to 1997, he was the First Deputy Chairman of MAPO-Bank.

Usmanov oversaw Gazprom Invest Holdings, the investment-holding unit of Russia’s state-owned gas corporation Gazprom, for more than ten years beginning at the end of the 1990s. Usmanov departed the business in 2014.

USM Holdings And Metalloinvest

Usmanov owns a 49 per cent economic stake and all of the voting rights in this multinational conglomerate, with its primary assets in the media, telecommunications, technology, and metals and mining industries. Usmanov holds a variety of interests through USM and as a private investor, including shares in iron ore and steel, media, and internet enterprises.

He is a co-owner of Metalloinvest, which he and his business partner Vasiliy Anisimov established to handle their metal sector acquisitions. Usmanov expanded Metalloinvest through a series of purchases, unlike the Russian tycoons who took control of empires through loans-for-shares privatisation scams in the 1990s.

Lebedinsky GOK and Mikhailovsky GOK, the steel mills Oskol Electrometallurgical Plant and Ural Steel, the Ural Scrap Company, and many other Russian mining and metals companies are owned by Metalloinvest.

Through Gallagher Holdings, now USM Holdings, he has bought shares in the Australian mining firms Medusa, Mt Gibson, and Aztec Resources since 2006. 2009 saw the sale of Metalloinvest Holding’s 10.37 per cent ownership in Medusa Mining, an Australian gold miner.

Usmanov is the second-largest stakeholder in Toronto-listed (TSX) Nautilus Minerals (NUSMF), after Dr Mohammed Al Bawani (MB Holding), which is expected to harvest seabed gold and copper resources off Papua New Guinea in 2019.

Additionally, he has acquired a stake in Australian mining company Strike Resources, which is developing an iron ore discovery in Peru, through Gallagher Holdings. USM made a $100 million investment in Virtus Pro, an esports squad that plays competitive video games, in November 2015. In response to a rising push to clean up the sector, USM and Metalloinvest announced plans to build one of the largest HBI eco-plants in the world in Russia’s Kursk area in 2021.

Udokan Copper

Usmanov purchased the Udokan licence in 2008 after it was revealed to be one of the greatest copper deposits in the world during the Soviet era. According to geologists, there are 26.7 million tonnes of copper ore classified as JORC.

Strip mining was started at the Udokan mine in 2020 by Baikal Mining Company (now known as Udokan Copper), which had been abandoned since 1949 owing to the location’s isolation and severe weather. Construction of the initial stage of a mining and metallurgical facility for the manufacture of cathode copper and copper concentrate, as well as the production of up to 125,000 types of copper in addition to 12 million tonnes of ore, is part of the development of Udokan.

Group Mail.Ru (Rebranded To VK)

Usmanov met Yuri Milner in 2008, and shortly after, he started investing in DST and VK (Mail.ru Group). Prior to selling a $530 million share in 2013 and decreasing his stakes to 17.9 and 58.1 per cent, Usmanov held a 25.3 per cent ownership in VK and a 60.6 per cent voting interest. Pavel Durov’s shares in Vk.ru were purchased by Usmanov through VK in 2013 in order to enable Durov to maintain control over the Telegram app when UCP made a claim on Telegram. Usmanov’s ownership shares were sold to the Russian insurance firm Sogaz on December 2, 2021. Usmanov said that VK’s involvement had a significant influence on how USM developed.

Megafon

As of March 2022, Megafon Usmanov has a controlling stake in MegaFon, the second-largest mobile phone provider in Russia.

Investments In Portfolio

At a meeting arranged by Goldman Sachs in 2009, Mark Zuckerberg, the creator and CEO of Facebook, addressed Russian investors. Usmanov invested $200 million for a 1.96 per cent share in Facebook in 2009 through Mail.ru, valuing the company at $10 billion.

He agreed to Zuckerberg’s demands and transferred to him the voting rights on those shares. In 2012, Facebook became public, and its valuation increased significantly. When Usmanov sold his stock, he received a profit of almost $1 billion. The DST invested $800 million in Twitter in 2011.

Usmanov made noteworthy investments through Mail.Ru Group in other global digital firms including Groupon, Zynga, Airbnb, ZocDoc, Alibaba, and 360buy. He reportedly put $100 million into Apple in 2013. He later sold his interests at the beginning of 2014.

Usmanov said that the Alibaba investment had increased by 500% by the end of 2014. Usmanov hinted that he had sold his interest in Facebook when he remarked, “I adore Facebook, but I said ‘arrivederci’ Facebook.” He also mentioned that he had invested in “Chinese low-cost smartphone maker Xiaomi,” calling it a “future technological behemoth,” and that he was seeking to make investments in India, namely in the online trading industry.

It was announced in September 2018 that Mail.ru and Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. will form a $2 billion joint venture. The partnership, which was supported by the Kremlin through the Russian Direct Investment Fund, would combine the online marketplaces of both businesses in the Russian market.

Kommersant And Media Companies

Usmanov started making media investments in August of 2006. For $200 million, he acquired Kommersant, a publication that had formerly belonged to Russian businessman Boris Berezovsky. Usmanov also paid $25 million for a 50% share in the Russian sports TV station 7TV in November 2006, and $300 million for a 75% stake in the Russian music TV channel Muz-TV in June 2007. Usmanov was a co-owner of UTH, a media holding firm that owns 100% of Muz TV and U television networks in addition to Disney Russia, which is owned by UTH.

In 2017, he transferred his TV holdings to his business partner Ivan Tavrin.

Involvement And Investments In Sports

Arsenal

From 2007 until 2018, FC Usmanov had stock in the English football team Arsenal. In August 2007, he entered the football industry by purchasing a 14.58 per cent ownership in Arsenal. For £75 million, he and his business partner Farhad Moshiri acquired the club’s interest held by former Arsenal vice-chairman David Dein. Dein was named head of Red and White Holdings, their investment company, which grew to be the club’s largest stakeholder outside of the board of directors.

Red and White Holdings upped their investment to 23 per cent on September 28, 2007, moving ahead of Arsenal non-executive director Danny Fiszman to become the club’s second-largest shareholder.

He raised it to over 24 per cent on February 15 of that year, falling just shy of Fiszman’s 24.11 per cent. On February 16 of 2009, he upped it to 25%. The club’s largest stakeholder, Red and White Holdings, acknowledged this fact and stated that it “has the required funds to raise its position further [but] it has no present plan to make a complete takeover offer for Arsenal for six months.” Red and White Holdings would have to start a formal takeover if the stake reached 30%.

Usmanov’s interest led to the Gunners’ board passing a “lock-down” agreement, wherein chairman Peter Hill-Wood declared that club directors could only sell their stakes to “permitted persons” before April 2009 and that they had to give fellow board members “first option” on shares until October 2012. Keith Edelman, the managing director of Arsenal at the time, said that “the lockdown… makes us bulletproof.”

In April 2011, American entrepreneur Stan Kroenke, who had already owned a sizeable portion of Arsenal, extended his ownership to slightly over 62 per cent by purchasing out Fiszman and Lady Bracewell-Smith to become the club’s dominant stakeholder. Kroenke was required to submit a bid to purchase the remaining shares of Arsenal since his position had increased beyond 30%. Usmanov, however, resisted the urge to sell and remained a shareholder.

In June 2011, Usmanov boosted his Arsenal ownership past the 29 per cent mark. In February 2012, he then bought stakes held by the Scottish football team Rangers. In October 2013, he controlled more than 30% of the club. In an open letter to the board on July 5, 2012, Usmanov blasted Arsenal’s lack of ambition and financial strategy. He said that he had no plans to sell his stock.

However, Usmanov agreed to a £550 million offer for his shares in Arsenal on August 7th, 2018. In 2018, he transferred his shareholding to Kroenke.

Everton F.C

Usmanov’s holding company, USM, and Everton F.C. signed a five-year, $15 million+ agreement in January 2017 for the name rights of the team’s training facility, Finch Farm. Farhad Moshiri, a current Everton majority stakeholder and a previous co-owner of Usmanov’s Arsenal shares, Red and White Holdings, serves as Usmanov’s accountant and business partner.

2019 saw Megafon take on the roles of official matchday presenting partner and sleeve sponsor for Everton’s men’s training apparel. MegaFon strengthened its commercial partnership with Everton in 2020 to become the team’s primary sponsor. Due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in March 2022, Everton cut off its sponsorship links with USM and MegaFon.

Federation Internationale de Fencing (FIE)

Usmanov, a former sabre fencer for the former Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic, promoted the growth of fencing through his 2004-founded charitable organisation, “For the Future of Fencing.” From 2001 until 2009, he served as the Russian Fencing Federation’s president. From 2005 to 2009, he also served as president of the European Fencing Confederation.

With 66 votes to René Roch’s 61, he was elected president of the International Fencing Federation in 2008. In 2012 and 2016, he was re-elected. He won reelection to a fourth term in 2021 by a landslide, for which Vladimir Putin expressed his congratulations. Usmanov expanded the Olympic fencing programme to 12 disciplines while holding that role, among other achievements.

In response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, the European Union placed Usmanov on a blacklist on February 28, 2022, and froze all of his assets. He has been described as one of Vladimir Putin’s favourite oligarchs, according to the EU. His resignation as FIE President was announced in an accusing letter on March 1, 2022, following the enforcement of the sanctions against him.

Other

A football team in the Russian capital named Dinamo Moscow signed Metalloinvest as a sponsor in February 2008. As part of the $7 million agreement, the name of his Metalloinvest firm was substituted for Xerox Corporation on the team’s players’ jerseys.

Additionally, he serves as a trustee on the board of the Russian Olympian Sportsmen Support Fund. It was revealed in 2015 that USM had committed the equivalent of $100 million in the Eastern European Virtus. pro eSports squad.

Usmanov was selected Philanthropist of the Year by Russian Forbes in 2012. Usmanov established the “Art, Science, and Sport” Charity Fund in 2006. The Fund and London’s Tate Britain work closely together. Together, they completed a number of projects in Russia, including the Pre-Raphaelites exhibition in 2013 and the Turner exhibition in 2009.

Usmanov serves as a Trustee for a number of social, educational, and artistic institutions, including the Russian Geographical Society, the European University of St. Petersburg, the Moscow State Institute of International Relations, and the National Research University Higher School of Economics. He contributed €1.5 million in 2015 to the Ulpia Basilica in Rome’s repair.

Usmanov was discovered to have paid $8.8 million for the original 1892 Olympic Manifesto, it was disclosed in February 2020. Following that, he gave it to the Olympic Museum. The manifesto is now the most valuable item of sports memorabilia in the world.

Usmanov was the highest contributor to the battle against COVID-19 among The Sunday Times Rich List members for two years in a row, in 2020 and 2021, with donations totalling £134.2 m from Russia, Uzbekistan, and Italy. Usmanov stated in an interview with the Financial Times in 2020 that his family and USM management will receive his estate: “Many individuals have supported me. I wish to give my shares to my family and management in order to support them. I believe that the family and management both deserve 50% of the credit “.

Days before it was scheduled to be put up for sale by Sotheby’s in London, Usmanov paid more than £20 million for the late Russian cellist Mstislav Rostropovich’s art collection on September 17, 2007. All of the artwork was donated to the Russian government, which now keeps it in storage in the Konstantinovsky Palace outside of St. Petersburg.

Later the same month, he acquired the rights to a sizable collection of Soviet cartoons that had been owned for fifteen years by actor Oleg Vidov, a Russian-born American who had immigrated to the US in 1985. Following the $5–$10 million transaction, Usmanov gave the library of cartoons to a recently launched Russian children’s television network.

Usmanov received the Russian Medal of Honor, by presidential order No. 365 of March 17, 2004. Usmanov earned the Republic of Kazakhstan’s Order of Friendship in 2011. He received the Order for Service to the Fatherland IV class in 2013 in honour of his state service as well as his civic and charity endeavours.

He received a medal from the Russian Foreign Ministry that year “For service to international cooperation.” Usmanov was awarded the Order of Alexander Nevsky in 2014 for his civic and philanthropic work. He was awarded The Decoration “For Beneficence” in 2016 for his involvement in social and philanthropic causes in Russia.

Usmanov was awarded the Al-Fahr Order in the same year for his significant role in the resurgence of Islam in Russia. Usmanov was awarded the Order “For Merit to the Fatherland,” third class, in 2018.

Usmanov purchased Dr James Watson’s Nobel Prize Medal in Physiology or Medicine on December 4 for $4.8 million at Christie’s in New York City. Watson sold his award in an effort to earn funds for funding scientific research. Watson collected $4.1m after auction fees. After that, Usmanov gave the medal back to Watson, saying, “In my view, it is inappropriate for an excellent scientist to sell a medal honouring his accomplishments.

My father died from cancer, a disease whose study was aided by Watson’s work. For me, it is crucial that the funds I used to purchase this medal support scientific research and that the recipient retains ownership of it.

Life Journey

Simon Kjær Biography tells you about his Childhood, Early Life, Family, Parents, Children (Milas and Viggo), Ex-Wife (Camilla), and current Wife (Elina Gollert). Specifically, Dane’s net worth and personal life.

You will follow the center-back’s life journey, from his early days to when he became famous.

Simon Kjær, the Danish captain who became a hero during Euro 2020, will never be forgotten by the football world. Christian Eriksen’s life was saved by his calm act of administering vital health measures before the doctors arrived.

We present you with his fascinating expeditions that led to his stardom in the 21st century. Let’s begin.

He is known as ‘The Viking’ in Biography. Simon Thorup Kjær was born in Horsens, Denmark, on the 26th day of March 1989, to his Danish father, Jorn Kjær, and his Danish mother, Lotte Kjær. During his father and mother’s union, the defender was the eldest of two children. In the young boy’s opinion, there was no better way to spend childhood days than sitting with his mother.

Having the chance to listen to her exciting fairytales all the time is a wonderful experience for him. As a child, he no doubts made a lot of happy memories with his parents.

Growing up in Horsens, soccer was always the priority for the upcoming defender. While growing up, he enjoyed spending time with his sister (Alberte Kjær). A memorable part of his youthful days was, however, his participation in football.

At the age of four, Kjær had already mastered the art of kicking a ball. Even though he was not the most talented of his peers, he gave his all to the game.

Firstly, his household is not super-wealthy but has fared well as average Danish citizens. Simon Kjær comes from humble middle-class family background. The center-back’s household is driven by a caring father (Jorn Kjær) who works hard to provide for his entire household.

Despite their average financial status, Kjær’s family cherishes each other with affection and closeness.

The defender will never forget the place where his career expedition all began, where his career began. He is a native of Horsens, a city that houses about 59,966 people in Denmark.

Would you like to know?… His place of origin is known for its cultural and entertainment events. There is a New Theatre in Horsens that serves as a cultural center and hosts over 200 events each year.

In the opinion of his father, our boy grew up in an era in which players were judged by their physical appearance rather than by their innate abilities. It was necessary for him to look big to prove he could handle himself on the pitch. Moreover, he needed to be connected to prominent personalities before he could become a full-fledged player, or at least that’s how the system saw it.

Interestingly enough, he did not seem to be bothered by the limitations that threatened his success. His parents enrolled him in a small-time football academy (Lund IF) near Horsens. The defender had outgrown the facilities and technical provisions at Lund IF when he turned 15.

Seeing his career on the line, his father made contact with the professional soccer club – FC Midtjylland – where he worked. Thankfully, the academy accepted Kjær so his dad wouldn’t lose his job. However, they never thought he had any talent for the game.

This young lad worked hard to improve himself instead of getting upset by their disapproval of his abilities. In 2016, Kjær shocked his entire team by winning the best player award at the French youth tournament.

It is notable that he graduated from FC Midtjylland’s academy as one of the first players. Midtjylland eventually had Kjær sign a 5-year contract with the club after rejecting several transfer offers. Consequently, in 2007, the athlete made his senior debut in the Superliga.

Several prominent clubs discussed his departure from his team after his outstanding performance. Kjær ended up signing a 5-year contract with Palermo in 2008 for €4 million. His career with the Italian club suffered a setback due to his difficulty adapting to the competitions in Palermo’s defense.

Even so, he did well in his first two appearances for the club to impress many fans with his abilities. Kjær secured his spot as Palermo’s center-back within such a short period of time.

In addition to Danish, Kjær speaks five languages, including English and Italian (which he learned in Palermo). As a child, he idolized John Terry and Fabio Cannavaro and supported Liverpool. His mother, a teacher, was not supportive of him becoming a footballer.

Kjær was able to earn his diploma despite not enjoying studying in school. Kjær married his long-term girlfriend, Camilla. The two have been together since they were fifteen. They eventually broke up, and Kjær began a relationship with Swedish national, Elina Gollert. Together, they have two children, Milas and Viggo.

They were married in the summer of 2017. Kjær talked about superstitions, saying: “I believe in them, but I don’t practice them. Before every game, I wear the right sock.”

A public declaration of affection for Steve McClaren was made by Kjær following the dismissal.
  • Kjær apologized for the firing and said he was happy to work with Steve McClaren. Even after Magath’s comment, Kjær retained his first-team spot for the rest of the 2010-11 season, though it was met with frustration as the club narrowly avoided relegation the previous year and he had come under fire for some lackluster performances.
  • Despite being sidelined on three occasions during the 2010–11 season, he played 34 games and scored once across all competitions.
  • Kjær revealed in the summer transfer window of 2011 that Magath told him he was free to leave that summer, and that he had fallen out of favor with Magath. Kjær played four games for Wolfsburg before leaving for Roma amid transfer speculation.

Loan to Roma

  • Due to suspension and injury concerns, Kjær missed the next four matches after the match. The club won 2–1 against Leece on 20 November 2011, when he returned to the starting line-up.
  • His return was short-lived when he sustained an injury that kept him sidelined for a month. When he returned to the starting line-up for Roma’s match against Fiorentina in the Round of 16 of the Coppa Italia on 11 January 2012, he helped the team keep a clean sheet, in a 3–0 win.
  • However, in Roma’s 4–2 loss to Cagliari on 1 February 2012, Kjær was at fault for his poor performance and was largely disappointing.

  • Kjær made 24 appearances throughout the 2011–12 season, despite being sidelined twice more. Following this, Roma decided not to sign Kjær permanently due to his poor performances.

Return to Wolfsburg

  • Kjær did not return to Wolfsburg after his loan spell at Roma ended after coach Magath decided the Dane would not be included in his first-team plans for 2012-13.
  • A few days later, Magath announced that he had changed his mind and was eager to integrate Kjær into Wolfsburg’s first team.
  • In Wolfsburg’s opening match of the 2012–13 season against VfB Stuttgart, he came on as a late substitute to win 1–0. • Both he and his Danish compatriot Thomas Kahlenberg were praised by Manager Magath after the match. Kjær, however, found himself on the substitute bench in the first three months of the season.
  • Following Magath’s sacking, he returned to the pitch against Fortuna Düsseldorf on 27 October 2012, helping the club win 4-1.
  • The following season, Kjær returned to the first team, playing in the center back position under the new management of Lorenz-Günther Köstner and Dieter Hecking. In a 1–1 draw with Hamburger SV on 2 December 2012, he scored his first goal of the season.
  • On 19 January 2013, Kjær assisted on the club’s second goal of the game in a 2–0 win over Stuttgart. He was dropped from the starting line-up for the next three matches after his performance against Hannover 96 on 26 January 2013.

  • Against Werder Bremen two weeks later, on 20 April 2013, he set up Wolfsburg’s first goal before being substituted in the 54th minute due to an abductor problem.
  • After the match, Kjær did not play for the club for the rest of the season. In all competitions, he scored two goals in 25 appearances at the end of the 2012–13 season.

  • As a result of Kjær’s contribution, Lille kept two consecutive clean sheets between 25 August 2013 and 31 August 2013 against Saint-Étienne and Rennes. Between 24 September 2013 and 3 December 2013, he helped the club keep ten consecutive clean sheets.
  • Kjær provided Lille’s lone goal of the game, as they lost 2–1 against Stade de Reims on 12 January 2014. A month later, on 21 January 2014, he scored his first goal for the club in a 3–0 win over Iris Club de Croix in the second round of the Coupe de France.

  • After playing in center-back for the majority of the season, he regained his first-team spot. Kjær then scored on his UEFA Europa League debut against FC Krasnodar in a 1-1 draw on 18 September 2014.
  • He also kept three clean sheets between 7 January 2015 and 14 January 2015, including his second goal of the season as he powered FC Nantes to a 2–0 win in the quarter-finals of the Coupe de la Ligue.
  • Kjær suffered a thigh injury against Lorient on 17 January 2015 and was substituted after 33 minutes, resulting in him missing two matches. In a 2–1 victory over Montpellier on 7 February 2015, he returned to the starting line-up.
  • Kjær regained his first-team position since returning from injury, playing at center-back. He still managed to make 42 appearances and score three goals in all competitions despite being sidelined five times during the 2014-15 season.

Fenerbahçe

  • As a result of transfer speculation over the summer, it was announced on 16 June 2015 that Kjær had joined Fenerbahçe, signing a four-year contract for €7.65 million.
  • A 0–0 draw against Shakhtar Donetsk in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League Third Round marked Kjær’s Fenerbahçe debut.
  • In the return leg, however, he was sent-off for his second bookable offense, and their team lost 3–0, eliminating them from the tournament.
  • Fenerbahçe drew 1-1 with Aykur Rizespor in Kjær’s league debut, as he started the entire game. He suffered an ankle injury while on international duty, which sidelined him for three weeks.
  • Kjær returned to the starting line-up against Beşiktaş on 27 September 2015, only to score his own goal as the club lost 3–2.

  • In light of Fenerbahçe’s ban from playing European football next season, Kjær wanted to leave the club. Kjær signed a four-year deal with Sevilla on 2 August 2017 for €12,500,000.
  • In Sevilla’s opening game of the season, Kjær made his debut, starting the entire match in a 1–1 draw against RCD Espanyol. He was sidelined by injury twice in September.
  • Kjær scored his first goal for the club in a 5–1 loss to Spartak Moscow on 17 October 2017. He was a regular in the first team for the next two months, playing at center-back.
  • Kjær injured his left abductor muscle while training and missed three matches as a consequence. He returned to the starting lineup against Maribor on 6 December 2017 to help the club earn a 1-1 draw.
  • In the first leg of the Copa Del Rey Round of 16, Kjær contributed to the club’s second goal in a 2–1 victory.
  • He scored his first league goal for Sevilla on 6 January 2018, in a 5–3 loss against rivals, Real Betis.
  • Kjær, however, sustained a back injury that forced him to miss a month. When he returned to the starting lineup against Málaga on 28 February, he helped the team keep a clean sheet.
  • Since returning from injury, Kjær started five consecutive matches for Sevilla and was instrumental in helping the club beat Manchester United in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16.
  • During a 4–0 loss against Celta Vigo on 7 April 2018, Kjær injured his knee and was replaced in the 40th minute.
  • As a result, Sevilla qualified to play European football next season thanks to his second league goal of the season in a 2–2 draw against Real Betis on 12 May 2018.
  • At the end of the 2017–18 season, Kjær made 27 appearances and scored three goals.  During the beginning of the 2018-19 season, KJr started every minute in the Supercopa de Espaa against Barcelona. Sevilla lost 2–1.
  • After returning to the first team, he played in the center-back position for the club. Kjær had been playing well until a match against SD Huesca on 28 October 2018. He suffered a hamstring injury in the 24th minute and was substituted as Sevilla won 2–1. A month later, it was announced that he would be sidelined.
  • Kjær started against Real Valladolid on 25 November 2018 and kept a clean sheet in the 1–0 victory. As the season progressed, he was found in and out of the starting line-up due to injuries.
  • In spite of this, Kjær made 37 appearances across all competitions. As a result, he was expected to leave Sevilla prior to the 2019–20 season.

Loan to Atalanta

  • Kjær started the whole game for Atalanta in their 2–0 win against Roma on 24 September. In October he made four more appearances for Atalanta. Nevertheless, like Martin Škrtel (his former teammate at Fenerbahçe who signed and terminated his contract with Atalanta within August 2019), he failed to convince the team’s head coach Gian Piero Gasperini. Because of this, the club terminated the loan deal six months before its expiration.

AC Milan

  • Kjær signed for AC Milan on loan until the end of the 2019–20 season, with the option to make the move permanent for an undisclosed fee.
  • He had been linked with the club in the late 2000s and early 2010s during his time with Palermo and even praised in the media by then-current Milan’s head coach Carlo Ancelotti yet the move eventually broke down as two clubs failed to agree on his transfer fee.
  • Kjær made his debut for the club in the Coppa Italia round of 16 on 15 January 2020, playing 82 minutes against S.P.A.L. at home. A dramatic 3–2 victory against Udinese marked his debut in Serie A as a Milan player four days later.
  • Kjær missed one match due to illness, but returned to the line-up on 9 February 2020, playing in the center-back position, losing 4–2 to rivals Inter Milan. In a 1–0 win against Torino on 17 February 2020, he tore his muscle and was substituted in the 44th minute due to the injury.
  • It was announced after the match that Kjær would be out of action for a few months. After the COVID-19 pandemic, which resulted in the suspension of League matches, he recovered from his injury and returned to the starting line-up in the second leg of the Coppa Italia semifinals against Juventus; the club drew 0–0, preventing Milan from winning the tournament.
  • During his first season under head coach Stefano Pioli, Kjær competed with other central defenders, namely Mateo Musacchio, Léo Duarte, and Matteo Gabbia, for a starting position in the team’s back four alongside left central defender Alessio Romagnoli.
  • In total, he made 11 appearances for Milan (9 in Serie A and 4 in Coppa Italia) before the club bought him out from Sevilla for €3.5 million on 15 July 2020, the date of the buy-out clause in his loan contract.
  • Kjær signed a contract with Milan until 30 June 2022 on 15 July 2020. Kjær’s first goal for the Rossoneri came in the first leg of the Europa League round of 16 tie against Manchester United on 11 March 2021.

  • Samuel Eto’o’s performance in the World Cup was nevertheless praised by the media and the player himself. His participation in the tournament has benefited him greatly, he claims.
  • As a result of their 2–1 win against Portugal on 11 October 2011, the player regained his place in the national team and helped them qualify for the UEFA Euro 2012 tournament.

Aleksandar Mitrović Biography, Age, Height, Career, Net Worth & Wiki

Life of Fraser Forster

Fraser Gerard Forster born, 17 March 1988, is an English professional football goalkeeper who plays for Premier League club Southampton and the England national team.

Forster was born in Hexham, Northumberland, the son of Brian Clive Forster QC (who subsequently became a circuit judge), and went to the Royal Grammar School in Newcastle, but did not start playing goalie until he was 13 years old.

He had previously primarily played rugby union or cricket. Coaches first felt Forster was too tiny to play goalie, despite playing for local junior team Stocksfield before joining the illustrious Wallsend Boys Club. However, at the age of 15, he experienced a big growth spurt and eventually signed with Newcastle United.

Fraser Forster began his career with Newcastle United and spent time on loan with Stockport County and Bristol Rovers. Forster subsequently went on loan to Celtic during the 2010–11 season, where he helped them win the Scottish Cup.

He stayed on loan for another season, winning the Scottish Premier League, before becoming a permanent squad member in 2012 for a cost of £2.2 million. Forster received several accolades for his achievements at Celtic, and he retains the Scottish top-flight record of 1,256 minutes without allowing a goal.

Fraser Forster joined Southampton for a reported £10 million in August 2014. Forster had a solid initial season in the Premier League, but he suffered a catastrophic knee injury in March 2015 that sidelined him for the remainder of the season. When he returned in January 2016, he rapidly regained his form, going on to establish a club record of 708 minutes without conceding a goal.

Forster’s comeback boosted Southampton’s ascent from thirteenth to sixth place in the league, earning them qualification for the UEFA Europa League the following season.

During 2012 and 2013, Forster was called up to various England teams before earning his maiden international debut in November 2013. He was chosen for England’s World Cup and Euro 2016 teams in 2014.

Forster possesses a remarkable degree of agility despite his massive stature; Ian Brown, who coached him as a teenager at Wallsend, stated that “He was and still is an incredible shot stopper. I’ve seen him save shots for Southampton that he shouldn’t, and his body bends.” In one-on-one circumstances, he appears to amplify his already massive stature to an onrushing opponent.

However, Forster was chastised early in his Celtic career for lacking confidence and authority, and for being unsure with the ball at his feet. He developed with time, and his confidence and kicking significantly improved.

His focus was also highlighted; given Celtic’s domination over the bulk of their opponents in Scotland, their goalie generally enjoys extended periods of inactivity, but when called upon, Forster was always awake and ready.

Fraser Forster Net Worth

Fraser Forster came through the Newcastle United youth system before establishing his reputation in Scotland with Celtic FC. He returned to England with Southampton in 2014 and has a net worth of up to 30.6 million Euros. In July 2017, the goalkeeper agreed to terms with Southampton on a four-year contract worth four million euros per year. His market worth is currently close to 2.4 Million Euros.

Football Career

Club Career

Forster signed his first professional deal with Newcastle United’s Academy in 2005. In the 2007–08 season, Forster was Newcastle’s third-choice goalkeeper, while Tim Krul was on loan at Falkirk and featured regularly in the reserves. Fraser, however, never made a first-team appearance for Newcastle throughout his six-year contract, owing to the fact that he spent the most of his time on loan to other teams, frequently for full seasons.

With Krul returning for the 2008–09 season and fully recovered, it was Forster’s time to go on loan. On 2 October 2008, he was loaned to Stockport County to fill in for regular goalkeeper Owain Fôn Williams, who was away on international duty with Wales. On 7 October, Forster made his debut for Stockport in the Football League Trophy second round, which they lost 1–0 away to Bury.

In October, he began his first league encounter for Stockport County, which ended in a 1–1 draw away to Southend United. He returned to Newcastle on November 1 after finishing his loan term with Stockport, where he played six league games and kept three clean sheets.

Forster, who had been on the bench for Newcastle on more than 20 occasions in the Premier League, required consistent playing time and signed a month-long loan agreement with Bristol Rovers on July 31, 2009. In the four league matches he played for them, he maintained two clean sheets.

Norwich announced in November 2009, that they had reached an agreement with Newcastle to extend Forster’s loan. The loan was extended until the conclusion of the 2009–10 season. This happened after he had impressed the Norwich fans with his performances and helped the side rocket up the League One table.

He was also given permission to play in Norwich City’s cup matches.Norwich manager Paul Lambert complimented the saves as “world class” and a tremendous contribution to the squad.

Forster was named Norwich City Player of the Month in November 2009. On April 17, 2010, Norwich City won a hard-fought 1–0 victory at Charlton Athletic, with Forster making outstanding saves to deny Nicky Bailey and Deon Burton. Norwich won League One with a 2–0 win against Gillingham a week later.

Forster was voted the club’s Players’ Player of the Year 2010 and finished second in the Supporters’ Player of the Year award in acknowledgment of his role in Norwich’s success. An outstanding season at Norwich was capped by his receipt of the Macron Golden Gloves Award for the greatest league clean sheet record, with 18 clean sheets in 38 league games and 20 clean sheets in 20 outings.

Forster joined Celtic on a season-long loan from Newcastle on August 24, 2010. “He’s a big guy, he’s come well recommended,” Celtic manager Neil Lennon said of Forster. “His age is the one thing going against him because otherwise he’s got the traits you look for.” He made his Celtic debut against Motherwell on August 29, 2010, and maintained a clean sheet as Celtic won 1–0. With the exception of two cup matches, he went on to play in every match of Celtic’s season.

Forster had a fantastic season with Celtic, finishing second in both the League Cup and the Scottish Premier League. Forster and teammate goalkeeper Lukasz Zauska combined for 23 league clean sheets, exceeding Celtic’s previous clean sheet record from the 2001–02 season. Of the 22 clean sheets, Forster preserved 21. He finished his season with a 3–0 win over Motherwell, which helped Celtic win the Scottish Cup. In 44 games for Celtic, he kept 24 clean sheets.

After appearing in pre-season for Newcastle against Darlington, Orlando City, Leeds United, and Fiorentina, as well as being named among the substitutes for the Premier League season opener against Arsenal, Forster returned to Celtic on loan for the remainder of the season on August 17, 2011.

He helped Celtic draw 0–0 at home against FC Sion before losing 3–1 away, only for UEFA to reinstate Celtic into the Europa League with 3–0 victory in both legs when Sion were deemed to have fielded ineligible players. He let up goals in each of his five group matches.

Forster had a fantastic 2011–12 season with Celtic, helping the club win the Scottish Premier League and break the previous season’s record of 23 clean sheets. He and Zauska combined for 25 clean sheets, with Forster collecting up 21 of them.

Hearts were given a disputed penalty in the last minute of a league match at Parkhead in December 2011, with Celtic leading 1–0. To earn three crucial points for Celtic, Forster made a superb save from Eggert Jonsson’s penalty attempt. He preserved 26 clean sheets in 47 outings that season.

On June 29, 2012, it was confirmed that Forster has signed a permanent contract with Celtic for a cost of around £2 million paid to Newcastle United. Forster was praised as a “high class keeper” by manager Neil Lennon, who saw him as an essential addition to the club.

On 7 November 2012, Forster delivered a determined performance against Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League group stages, assisting Celtic to a historic 2–1 triumph during the club’s 125th anniversary week. Because of the caliber of his performance, the Spanish press dubbed Forster “La Gran Muralla” (“The Great Wall”).

Forster continued to shine in domestic contests. Motherwell were granted a soft penalty against Celtic in January 2013. Surprisingly, referee Steven McLean let Tom Hateley take the penalty kick from just in front of the penalty spot. Forster received a yellow card for his objections to McLean. However, the goalie went on to make an outstanding one-handed stop high to his right.

Forster pushed over a thunderous Gary Harkins dipping shot at full-stretch the following month in a league encounter against Dundee. In May 2013, this save was chosen the SPL Save of the Season. Forster went on to win a second league title with Celtic that season, and completed a league and cup double with a 3–0 triumph over Hibernian in the Scottish Cup Final on May 26, 2013.

Celtic qualified for the UEFA Champions League again in 2013–14, and faced Barcelona at Parkhead on October 1, 2013, losing 1–0. Despite the loss, Forster once again excelled with numerous fantastic saves, including an amazing double save near the conclusion of the game.

Fraser Forster playing for Celtic

Forster’s outstanding performances for Celtic in the Champions League and his participation in the England international squad prompted media reports in October and November 2013 that numerous clubs, notably Manchester United and Manchester City, were considering an offer for the goalie.

In reaction to the rumors in the press, Celtic manager Neil Lennon stated, “It’s going to be hard to keep Fraser the way he’s playing,” adding, “Inevitably, I think a large club will come in and make a huge bid for him.”

On February 2, 2014, Forster set a new club record by keeping 11 consecutive league clean sheets. Forster played in Celtic’s first four Champions League qualification matches, despite rumors connecting him to a move to Southampton.

Celtic and Southampton agreed on a rumored price of about £10 million for Forster’s transfer to the Premier League club on August 8, 2014. Southampton made the trade official the next day, when Forster signed a four-year contract with the club.

On August 17, he made his Premier League debut in Southampton’s opening match of the season, a 2–1 loss against Liverpool. By mid-October, and after eight Premier League games, Forster had four clean sheets and only allowed five goals, the best defensive record in the Premier League at the time.

In a match against Burnley on March 21, 2015, Forster suffered a significant knee injury while clearing a back pass and was led off the field by doctors. He was replaced by Kelvin Davis.

Despite being anticipated to be out for up to a year, Forster returned to light training in November 2015. On January 6, 2016, Forster played the whole 90-minute Under-21 Premier League Cup encounter against Chelsea and kept a clean sheet.

On 13 January 2016, he made his Premier League debut, playing the full 90 minutes and maintaining a clean sheet in Southampton’s 2–0 win against Watford.

Forster’s performance versus Arsenal on February 2, 2016, in his fourth match, was particularly excellent and received much praise. The Gunners controlled the game, with 11 shots on goal to Southampton’s three. Forster made a number of saves in what The Daily Telegraph called a “genuinely inspired goalkeeping display.”

Although he had been first choice goalkeeper since his debut at Southampton, it wasn’t until Kelvin Davis retired in the summer of 2016 that Forster was officially given the customary goalkeeper’s “number 1” shirt at the club.

Despite Forster’s and Southampton’s overall poor run, the Saints were the only team in history to reach the League Cup final without surrendering a single goal. However, Southampton lost the final 3–2 against Manchester United on February 26, 2017. Despite a difficult season, Forster finished the season with 14 clean sheets.

With the acquisition of Angus Gunn from Manchester City as a back-up for Alex McCarthy in July 2018, Forster was moved further down the pecking order at Southampton.

On 22 August 2019, it was revealed that Forster’s old club Celtic had agreed to a season-long loan with Southampton. Forster’s contract with Southampton has three years remaining, although he has not featured for the club since December 2017.

By March 2020, Celtic were 13 points clear in the league and on their path to a ninth straight triumph; however, because of the COVID-19 epidemic in the United Kingdom, all professional football in Scotland was banned later that month. The Celtics were later crowned champions.

Despite media rumors that Forster might return to Celtic for a second stint, he returned to Southampton for the 2020–21 season. Forster made his season debut in the EFL Cup on August 25, 2021, as Southampton defeated Newport County 8–0 to earn their largest away win in history.

International Career

Roy Hodgson named Forster to England’s team for the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against San Marino and Poland on October 4, 2012. On November 8, 2012, Forster was picked to Hodgson’s England team for a friendly against Sweden.

In March 2013, Hodgson named Forster to his England team for the 2014 World Cup qualifiers against San Marino and Montenegro. Forster was included in England’s team for the World Cup qualifiers against Moldova and Ukraine on August 27, 2013, joining Joe Hart and John Ruddy in the goalkeeper race.

Forster made his England debut on November 15, 2013, in a friendly match against Chile at Wembley Stadium. England lost 2–0, however Forster was “blameless” for both goals and made a “great diving stop” to prevent Chile from scoring a third. With this game against Chile, Forster became only the second Celtic player to play for England, following Alan Thompson in 2004.

Hodgson nominated Forster to England’s 23-man team for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil on May 12, 2014. Forster missed much of 2015 due to a knee injury, but his performance after returning to football in early 2016 won him a recall to the England group in March. He appeared in the second half of England’s 3–2 friendly triumph against Germany in Berlin, making a superb save from a Marco Reus free kick before conceding a goal to Mario Gómez.

Three days later, on March 29, 2016, Forster played the entire 90 minutes in a 2–1 loss to the Netherlands. Danny Rose claimed that the handball that led to the penalty for the Netherlands’ first goal was not malicious, while Phil Jagielka seemed to be fouled in the build-up to Luciano Narsingh’s winning goal.

Despite the loss, Forster played with poise and made some good saves. Forster was nominated to England’s 23-man team for UEFA Euro 2016, yet he was once again an understudy to Joe Hart and did not appear in any of England’s four matches at the tournament.

Following Euro 2016, Forster was an unused replacement in consecutive England matches before being withdrawn entirely from the team in August 2017.

He expressed his desire to rejoin the national squad in November 2019. Forster was called up to the England squad for friendly matches against Switzerland and the Ivory Coast on March 23, 2022. He came in as a late replacement for Sam Johnstone.
