Gloria Estefan was born in Havana, Cuba, to parents José Fajardo and Gloria Garcia, into a middle-class family. Gloria Fajardo, Estefan’s mother, won an international competition as a youngster and was offered a job dubbing Shirley Temple’s films in Spanish by Hollywood.
