Club Career
He was seen to be Panama’s best potential, and in 2007 he made two trips to England to train with Manchester United and one with Valencia in Spain. He was injured on the second day of practice on his second travel to Manchester and was forced to return home, where he played for ANAPROF side Chepo.
He was loaned to La Equidad in 2008 for a period of six months; his loan agreement was then extended for a further six months. Torres scored in his first match in Colombia, a 2-3 loss to Deportivo Pereira. Torres signed a one-year loan agreement with América Cali, the current Mustang Cup champions, in January 2009.
He would, however, spend most of his games on the bench after being forced to sit out the preseason due to his involvement in the 2009 UNCAF Nations Cup with Panama. He was expelled from America on March 30 for arriving home after hours and drunk, according to claims that Torres has refuted. In April 2009, Gaby went back to play for Chepo in Panama.
Torres moved abroad once more in January 2010 to play for Colombian club Atlético Huila alongside fellow countryman Amlcar Henriquez. In July 2011, he moved to the Venezuelan club Zamora. In February 2013, after scoring his 29th goal against Portuguesa, he was named the club’s all-time leading scorer.
