Dominik Livaković joined NK Zagreb’s first team at the start of the 2012-13 season. Initially the club’s backup goalkeeper, he made his league debut on August 31, 2012, playing the entire match in a 1-0 loss at home to HNK Cibalia.

He quickly became the club’s number one and appeared in 104 league games over four seasons, including 90 in the Prva HNL. On August 30, 2015, he agreed to join Dinamo Zagreb for the 2016-17 season. On 2 October 2016, he made his league debut for the club in a goalless draw at home against Hajduk Split.

2016 – present: UEFA Champions League Debut

On 18 October 2016, he made his UEFA Champions League debut, losing 1-0 at home to Sevilla. Dominik Livaković broke Draen Ladi’s 1995 record for most minutes from the start of Dinamo’s season without conceding a goal (413) on July 30, 2019, in a Champions League qualifying 3-0 victory over Saburtalo Tbilisi.

Three days later, in a 3-1 league victory over Gorica, he conceded his first goal of the season, setting a new record of 535. On 26 August 2020, in a Champions League qualifier against CFR Cluj, Livaković saved Ciprian Deac’s penalty kick. The game went to extra time and ended as a 2–2 draw, resulting in a penalty shootout.

Dinamo won the shootout 6-5 and advanced to the third qualifying round after Livaković saved Cătălin Golofca’s attempt. Dominik Livaković was praised for his performances in the 2020-21 Europa League group stage after conceding only one goal in five games and leading Dinamo to first place in their group.

On October 22, he saved Steven Berghuis’ penalty kick in Dinamo’s 0-0 draw with Feyenoord.
