Adam Masina, a left-back for the Moroccan national team and Italian Serie A club Udinese, was born on January 2, 1994. His native language is Arabic. Masina graduated from Bologna’s development program, made his club’s senior debut in 2012, and left for Watford in 2018. Additionally, he gave Giacomense two loans.
Masina was born in Morocco and later immigrated to Italy as a child. Prior to choosing to play for the Moroccan national team starting in 2021, he first represented Italy on the international stage at the under-21 level.
Born in Khouribga, Morocco, his family relocated to Italy while he was young. At the age of seven, he enrolled in the Bologna youth academy. He made his club debut on October 12, 2014, when Bologna defeated Latin 2-1 in a Serie B match. He played 28 times for Bologna during the 2014–15 Serie B season, which saw the team finish fourth in the standings and gain promotion to Serie A the following year. Due to his exceptional play, the defender was named Serie B Footballer of the Year.
The left-back made 33 appearances for the Rossoblu during the 2015–16 Serie A season, scoring his first Serie A goal in stoppage time against Capri. Bologna ended fourteenth in the standings as the team comfortably escaped relegation to continue in Serie A.
The left-back played 66 times for Bologna over the course of the following two seasons, garnering considerable media attention. The Italian left-back committed in the summer of 2018 when he agreed to a five-year, €5 million deal with English club Watford. The defender made 7 Premier League games in his first season with The Hornets as he battled to establish his form and make the first team.
He made his debut for Italy’s U21 squad against Lithuania on November 17, 2015, in a match for the 2017 European Championship.
Masina was born in the Moroccan city of Khouribga, but as a young child, he lost his mother. Together with his brother and father, he subsequently relocated to Emilia-Romagna in Italy. Later, because of his father’s alcoholism, he was placed in a variety of foster homes. He later became one of their adoptive child, from whom he inherited his last name.
Bologna saw him when he was just 11 years old and signed him. He returned to Bologna in 2013 and made his official debut for the Rossoblu in a 2-1 away victory over Latina on October 12, 2014, following a fruitful loan at Giacomense.
He contributed to the team’s promotion to Serie A, subsequently made his Serie A debut, and scored his first goal in the top level during a win against Carpi in extra time. Masina committed to a five-year deal with English club Watford on July 2, 2018, for an undisclosed sum. Masina committed to a three-year deal with Italian team Udinese on July 18, 2022.

Masina was selected to play for Morocco in the African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Mauritania and Burundi in March 2021. On March 26, 2021, he played his first game against Mauritania.

Life Journey
In this article, Woodgram briefly presents the story of a Football Genius, best known by the nickname, ‘The Beast’.
Nemanja Matic’s Childhood Story and Untold Biography Facts provide you with a full account of the recent events of Nemanja Matic’s life, from his childhood up to now.
The analysis of the former Chelsea legend includes his life story before fame, his family life, and many OFF and ON-Pitch little-known facts about him.
There is no doubt that everyone knows about his abilities, but few have read Nemanja Matic’s biography, which is quite interesting. So without further ado, let’s begin the adventure!
On the 1st of August, 1988, Nemanja Matic was born in Sabac, the SFR Yugoslav Republic, to athletes Dragan Matić (father) and Biljana Matić (mother) who were both athletes.
Matić was born in Macedonia, which was part of Yugoslavia and is now part of Serbia. Both of his parents were child survivors of World War II.
Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, and Slovenia, as well as Bosnia and Herzegovina, once unified under the name of Yugoslavia.
He grew up along with his brother, Uros, both of whom inherited athletic abilities from their parents.
In the year 1993, Young began his career with the Vrelo football club, which was at the time coached by a father he never knew, thus laying the foundation for the smooth career takeoff of his first son.
At the age of 10, Matic’s parents allowed him to take a bold step that saw him leave home to pursue a career without his father’s interference. One of his first destinations was Obrenovac 1905 in the year 1999.
He added that it was difficult for him to leave home because he was just 9 years old at the time.
The move was also a big step up from my youth career in Serbia. It wasn’t that close to my hometown, so I couldn’t return every weekend, and when you are just a nine-year-old boy, you can feel the pain of not being able to come back home. As time passed, though, things became more normal. Football remained my job, and it is something I enjoy doing. Having the support of my family helped me tremendously. As a result, my dream of playing football somewhere became a reality”
Later on he was able to continue his youth career at three different youth football clubs, namely Red Star Belgrade, Obrenovac 1905, Red Star Belgrade, Partizan, and Jedinstvo Ub. During the period between 1997 and 2005, this happened.
Without the early support of his father, he would not have been able to achieve his goals at these clubs. Matic was not only the best player at all of the above-mentioned clubs but he was also known for working very hard in the gym. His ‘years where he grew very tall’ were between 1997 and 2005.
His brilliant performance caught the attention of Kolubara, where he began his professional career in 2005.
During his three years at the club, he played only 16 times, never getting into the first eleven. Such a pity for the young lad who thought his career would finally come to a standstill after all these years.
In order to move on from his misery, he initiated a transfer to the Slovak club Koice in 2007, which clearly favored him. Slovak citizenship was also acquired during his stay in the country while he was living there.
As a matter of fact, the player’s time with the club turned out to be very fortunate for him, as the coach considered him to be a very gifted player and allowed him to play a lot.
In the two seasons that he played for the club, the Serbian made 70 appearances and scored four goals. It was his die-hard attitude that led Chelsea FC scouts to knock on his door. At that time, Chelsea was in serious need of a replacement for Makalele.
It was precisely in 2009 when scouts from Chelsea became interested in Matić. The two-year contract between the two parties was signed later that summer. His start to life at the London club was not very successful, as he only appeared occasionally as a substitute for the first team.
After finding out that he would be loaned out to Vitesse, Matic was extremely happy. There is an agreement between Chelsea and Vitesse through which some footballers from the English club will be able to train at the Dutch side’s academy during the course of the season.
In the 2010/2011 season, Nemanja spent time at the temporary club, scoring two goals in 27 appearances.
According to him, “In Portugal, I used to play against small players and I won every ball that I faced.”. Obviously, it was easier for me than in the Premier League with taller players.
It was in Portugal that his career was transformed, thanks to coach Jorge Jesus. During the summer of 2011, the Serbian footballer decided he wanted to take a big step in his life. The goal was to never be a loanee again.
Benfica has signed Matic from Real Madrid. In spite of his dissatisfaction at being used as bait by Chelsea, David Luiz felt satisfied leaving the club.
As soon as he joined the first team, he featured in 95 matches and managed to score 9 goals for the Portuguese club in just three seasons. During his time with the club, Matic witnessed the unbelievable. His team faced Chelsea in the final of the Europa League.
Despite losing to David Luiz’s team by a small margin, he ensured that he dealt with the situation properly. It was because of this that Chelsea rekindled their interest in him, this time promising to make him one of their first-choice players.
The whole thing started in January 2014, when Chelsea made a shocking move to bring the Serb back into the squad and paid €25 million for the player. The rest as they say, (including his decision to join Manchester United) is history.
It is not surprising that he comes from a family that has a rich history of athletes. In the world of sports, his parents, Dragan and Biljana, made their country proud. The father of Matic was a professional footballer who had played for FK Macva Sabac in the 1980s in Serbia.
Mattic’s younger brother, Uros, is also a professional footballer who plays for the Danish champions, FC Copenhagen at the time of this writing.
Uro’s career path has been similar to that of his brother, as both got trained by their father and went their separate ways after being trained.
It was once upon a time that the midfielder became very excited by the prospect of facing his brother’s Chelsea team in the Champions League. Unfortunately, the younger Matic ended up losing to his brother’s Chelsea team.
It was once Uro that tried to catch up with Nemanja’s success, but he failed, and he remains in his brother’s shadow. He sees his elder brother as someone who is living the dream, and he strives to emulate him.
In both cases, the pairs spend their holidays together with their best friends, a football by their side.
Matic decided to give his personal life a chance during his first stint at Chelsea, a period that was filled with difficulties. Aleksandra Pavic, from his country of origin, with whom he fell in love, is also from Aleksandra’s country of origin.
In his own words, he said; “My greatest achievement to date was to be able to persuade Aleksandra to marry me”. The two couples had a secret wedding in 2010.
Nemanja Matic’s marriage to Aleksandra did indeed help to bring his career to the next level. Aleksandra gave him the encouragement he needed at the time. He is without a doubt her pillar and his motivator. The two of them have enjoyed many successful moments together.
The marriage of Nemanja and Aleksandra has received the blessings of the church. Both of them have a son.
Known for his generous nature back in his hometown of Sabac in the region of Marcedonia, Serbia, he is known for his goodness. As a result, he has helped his village pay off its old debt.
He has also made a donation to his old club Obrenovac 1905. A museum has been donated to the club by him. The former Manchester United player was delighted to be reunited with his former manager Jose Mourinho for this match.
Jose Mourinho said: “I would like to thank him for being so eager to join us because, without that, it would have been impossible to have him here.”. “I am sure both our players and supporters will love him.”. “We extend a warm welcome to our new number 31.”
In Matic’s own words: “I am delighted to have joined Manchester United,” he added. “To have the opportunity to work with Jose Mourinho after so long was an opportunity that I could not pass up. This is an exciting time for the club and I am looking forward to playing my part in creating more history for this great club of ours.”
There is no doubt that Jose Mourinho and Nemanja Matic have an undying love for each other.
Jose Mourinho saw green light in his pursuit of Nemanja Matic after noticing that Antonio Conte’s interest in defensive midfielders seemed more focused on Tiemoure Bakayoko and N’Golo Kante.
Upon arriving at his first training session, Matic is welcomed by another former Chelsea player – Juan Mata – who shows him around and helps him settle in.
Both Matic and Mata shared a close friendship during the time they spent at Chelsea FC together.
Matic’s choice of car is one of the things that makes him unique. Every time he goes to a new club, he chooses to have at least one car that has the same color as the club’s jersey. When it comes to driving bigger vehicles, he is a huge fan of Mercedes.
In July 2017 the defensive midfielder signed a contract with Manchester United that nets him a whopping salary of 7.2 million euros (6.2 million pounds) per year. Taking all the numbers into account, this means he earns €19,672 (£17,026) per day and €820 (£709) per hour!

Table of Contents
Owen Wilson is an actor cum screenwriter who is famous for his collaboration with the filmmaker Wes Anderson with whom he has worked on several projects. Wilson and Anderson had met while they both attended the University of Texas and began their career by writing the screenplay for ‘Bottle Rocket’. The movie was directed by Anderson and starred Owen and his brother Luke. The movie bombed at the box office but drew the attention of critics and got positive reviews which helped launch the duo’s careers. As a youngster, he was a big troublemaker at school and was expelled for stealing a teacher’s notebook.
Growing up as the middle child with one elder and one younger brother, Owen was always on the lookout for some mischief that would set him apart from his brothers and get him his parents’ attention. But once he entered the world of films the loving brother took along both his siblings with him to Hollywood. With his distinctive crooked nose, smooth comedic style and deadpan humor he soon found himself an unlikely candidate for comedy films like ‘The Cable Guy’. Soon he was acting in a number of commercially successful films, many of which he also co-wrote. Along with his successful career, the actor is also famous for his link-ups with several beautiful women.

It was while he was studying at the University of Texas at Austin that he met and teamed up with his future mentor and friend, Wes Anderson. Together they created the comedy crime independent movie “Bottle Rocket” (1996) that put them on the filmmaking map. The offbeat success of Bottle Rocket helped Owen land a number of roles in both small independent projects and big studio blockbusters. By the end of the decade, he also became a founding member of Hollywood’s comedy club “Frat Pack” which counted Vince Vaughn, Will Ferrell, Paul Rudd and Owen’s brother Luke Wilson among its members.

Owen Wilson Suicide Attempt
It’s rarely a shock when a star’s personal demons rear up in the form of a police blotter. Robert Downey Jr.’s ’90s jail stints, Christian Slater’s 59-day stay behind bars on assault charges in 1998 and Lindsay Lohan’s alleged coke-fueled car chase this summer all followed a pattern of prior troublesome behavior. Each performer was known to have spent time in treatment for addiction. For these celebrities, a mug shot somehow seems as appropriate a career visual as a red carpet wave.
But the hospitalization this week of Owen Wilson, 38, after police responded to a report of a suicide attempt at his Santa Monica home, astonished anyone who knows him simply as the affable, blonde man-child from Wedding Crashers and You, Me and Dupree. To us outsiders, Wilson’s party seemed to be of the happy-go-lucky, nobody-gets-hurt variety. While other stars got DUIs, Wilson always appeared to have a ride home with one of his cool actor-brothers, Luke, 35, and Andrew, 43, or someone as a blonde, pretty, rich and famous as he, like Kate Hudson. When he wasn’t busy filming blockbuster comedies that played off his lovable slacker image or writing smart scripts like Rushmore and The Royal Tenenbaums with his friend from Texas, director Wes Anderson, Wilson’s life as documented by the tabloids consisted of tossing a football at the beach, riding his scooter alongside his dog, Garcia, and dating whatever impossibly beautiful woman he wanted. The gossip site Defamer.com awarded Wilson the moniker “The Butterscotch Stallion,” a nod to his, er, appetite for female companionship.
Obviously something darker was going on amidst all those flaxen-haired mellow good times. The only comment from Wilson, who’s said to be in good condition at Cedar’s Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, has been to issue this statement: “I respectfully ask that the media allow me to receive care and heal in private during this difficult time.” Nevertheless, speculation about his drug use, depression over his May break-up from Hudson and a recent fight with a friend have peppered the coverage of Wilson’s hospitalization. A People magazine cover story out Friday quotes a friend as saying: “Owen was very despondent. He slit his wrists. He almost did not make it.”
It’s unusual that an actor in his professional prime should suffer such a dramatic meltdown. Wilson dropped out of Tropic Thunder, a Dreamworks comedy he was set to start shooting in a few weeks with a buddy and eight-time co-star Ben Stiller. And it’s unlikely he’ll participate in any publicity for The Darjeeling Limited, his new film with Anderson, which opens the New York Film Festival in September.

Owen Wilson Nose
Owen Wilson Nose
So you’re just hanging out, watching a movie with a bunch of friends – nothing unusual to these proceedings at all. And then, Woah, you’re suddenly distracted. And not because the movie is bad and your attention is waning and you find it hard to sit still for two hours, but because you’ve noticed something about an actor on-screen. Is that thing you’ve noticed actually theirs, or is it something they’ve adopted for the sake of the movie? Because Owen Wilson’s nose really does look like that, but Brad Pitt’s neck scar in Inglourious Basterds is just part of an unexplained backstory.
“Why is Owen Wilson’s nose like that?” is the kind of lame question you’ll hear at least three or four times over the course of the next year. And you don’t really know the answer, because you’ve got a life and better things to do with your time, and it’s probably not that interesting anyway. But you do kind of want to know, don’t you? Yeah. Just for… reference purposes. Because these little quirks are what make a lot of actors, well… themselves. It gives them character.

Life Journey
The following Jan Vertonghen Biography tells you about his Childhood, Early Life, Parents, Family, Wife, Lifestyle, Net Worth, and Personal Life. In a nutshell, I will share with you the story of a Football Genius known as “Super Jan”. Woodgram begins the Belgian’s bio with his earliest days, up until the time when he became famous.
Yes, everyone knows about his rise to dominance in the premier league but not many consider Jan Vertonghen’s biography, which is quite interesting. Without further ado, here we go.
His full name is Jan Bert Lieve Vertonghen. It was on the 24th of April 1987 that he was born in Sint-Niklaas, Belgium, a town where football brings hope to the people.
Spurs legend Paul Vertonghen was born as the first child of Ria Mattheeuws and Paul Vertonghen. Jan’s childhood story is interesting, if not uncommon – it revolves around the life of a wonderful firstborn child who becomes an extraordinary talent.
As Jan grew up, he developed a steely determination to accomplish his dreams. Childhood dreams of becoming a professional footballer drove him to work hard every single day. It wasn’t just a passing fancy. It became a footstep he, his brother Lode, and Ward followed.
Vertonghen spent time at VK Tielrode and Germinal Beerschot before joining AFC Ajax’s youth academy. At Ajax, Vertonghen’s breakthrough was delayed by the presence of another Belgian, Thomas Vermaelen.
Later on, however, he progressed to the club’s senior team after outgrowing all club ranks. During the 2008-09 season, the young defender broke through. Vertonghen became Thomas Vermaelen’s first-choice partner in central defense when John Heitinga left for Atletico Madrid.
Eventually, he became Ajax club captain, following in the footsteps of Johann Cruyff. In 2011-12, Jan won the Eredivisie Player of the Year award. Ajax won their second title in a row thanks to his eight goals in 31 league games, highlighting his offensive capabilities.
Top European teams sought his services due to his rising importance. However, Tottenham ultimately won the race to sign him. As they say, the rest is history.
His many years in the Netherlands, his home country, has brought Jan Vertonghen, so much love. Sophie, a theater arts teacher, is the love of his life. In 2014, Jan Vertonghen announced via Instagram that he and his girlfriend Sophie de Vries had just gotten engaged.
After investing in football, Jan Vertonghen and his family came from a middle-class family. Ria Vertonghen finds time to make a catalog of her favorite son’s football collections, based on his international and club careers.
Ward and Lode Vertonghen is Jan Vertonghen’s younger brothers. In their football careers, both brothers followed in the footsteps of their elder brother Jan, but with lesser success. Lode Vertonghen is Jan Vertonghen’s younger brother. He was born on Feb 5, 1990, making him 3 years younger than Jan.
At the time of writing, Lode Vertonghen is playing for KFC Duffel (Belgian lower league) as a defensive midfielder. The youngest brother of Jan Vertonghen is Ward Vertonghen, another footballer from the lower Belgian league.
Vertonghen scored a bizarre goal in 2006 when he attempted to pass the ball to an injured opponent’s goalkeeper. To make up for this goal, Ajax allowed the opposition to score one back. This is a shining example of fair play.
The defender signed a contract with Benfica in 2021 that nets him a salary of 3 million euros (2.2 million pounds) per year. Based on our calculations, he earns €16,393 (£14,403) per day and €683 (£600) per hour!

Since he has been one of the highest-paid Spurs players for several seasons, Jan Vertonghen has a net worth of approximately 25 million euros (21.9 million pounds). His market value is slightly declining, however, as he is getting a tad older and as we all know, old age has no mercy. Even so, his current market value is still okay-ish: $2.20 million.
Vertonghen spent time at VK Tielrode and Germinal Beerschot before moving to the Netherlands and signing with the youth academy of Eredivisie side AFC Ajax.
He began his career as a midfielder before switching to center-back for Ajax. He became better known for an incident in the 2006 KNVB Cup game against Cambuur Leeuwarden. This was his first home game at the Amsterdam Arena, in which he scored a goal to put Ajax 3–0 up.
As a teammate was receiving treatment, he attempted a back pass to the Cambuur goalkeeper, but instead, the ball rolled into the goal. Ajax left Cambuur with the opportunity to score in return since it was unintentional.
Vertonghen made his first-team debut against Copenhagen in the Champions League third qualifying round on 23 August 2006.
He played in two more matches for the first half of the season after making his Eredivisie debut in a 6–0 win over Willem II at the Amsterdam Arena.
Loan to RKC
During the 2006–07 season, he was sent on loan to struggling RKC Waalwijk for the remainder of the season. At RKC, he scored three times in 12 matches, but could not prevent the team from relegation to the Eerste Divisie. In a 2–2 draw with his parent club, Ajax, he scored one of his goals with RKC Waalwijk. This helped Ajax finish second in the league with one fewer goal difference than PSV.
Breakthrough at Ajax
Ajax tipped Vertonghen for stardom in the 2007–08 season, but a severe injury and the presence of John Heitinga and Thomas Vermaelen prevented him from breaking through.
Cruyff had been open about his admiration for the left-footed youngster capable of playing in any left-sided position in defense and midfield. He extended his contract to 30 June 2013 on 26 September 2008.
2008-09 was a breakthrough season for the young defender. When John Heitinga left for Atlético Madrid, Vertonghen was Thomas Vermaelen’s first choice in central defense; the former started 23 of 26 games he played and scored four goals.
In a 3–0 victory over Vitesse on 28 September, he scored a rare double. The 24-year-old was injured during training during the week but still played in the match against Groningen on 24 January, which was considered a “must-win” match by coach Marco van Basten.
In Ajax’s 1–0 loss, Vertonghen received two yellow cards and was sent off. Following a hamstring injury sustained against Utrecht on 1 March, he was out for a month, from Utrecht. However, he played only a few games before another injury ended his season prematurely.
Rising importance under Jol
For the 2009–10 season, Vertonghen retained his place in the starting lineup under new coach Martin Jol. After injuring his toe while on international duty against Spain the week before, he scored his first goal of the season in a 6–0 thrashing of NAC Breda on 13 September.
After the departure of Thomas Vermaelen to Arsenal, he and fellow Belgian Toby Alderweireld were the first choice center-back pairing and became firm fan favorites.
Despite Ajax’s erratic form in the final weeks leading up to the winter break, he turned in some strong performances. He attracted the attention of several clubs, including Barcelona, but he played down the rumors, stating his intent to see out the remainder of his contract.
Vertonghen played a key role in Ajax’s nine-game unbeaten streak in the league after the winter break. A penalty awarded to PSV ended their run of six consecutive clean sheets in a 4–1 victory over them at home.
Vertonghen was linked with a move to Newcastle United, and later with Milan stating, “I heard Milan Director Adriano Galliani talk about me after the Champions League match in San Siro.”
He stated on numerous occasions late in the 2010–11 season that he was considering leaving Ajax.
Earlier this year, Frank de Boer confirmed Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini was at the 2011 KNVB Cup Final where Vertonghen’s side lost 3–2 to Twente.
Mancini reportedly scouted Vertonghen to strengthen his team after they qualified for the UEFA Champions League 2011–12.
Breakthrough under De Boer
After several regular players were sent out on long-term loans, Vertonghen emerged as one of Ajax’s most valuable players during the 2011–12 Eredivisie season.
In recognition of his outstanding performance against Manchester United in the UEFA Europa League Round of 16, he was named the 2011–12 Eredivisie Player of the Year.
Captained by Frank de Boer, he led Ajax to their second title in a row, scoring eight goals in 31 league games, highlighting his attacking abilities.
He also dropped the Championship plate for the second time. “Now it falls on my toe – the plate just doesn’t like me,” Vertonghen said.
Tottenham Hotspur
Vertonghen was linked with Tottenham Hotspur throughout the 2011–12 season and publicly expressed his desire to move to White Hart Lane over other clubs.
This was primarily due to his desire to play as a center-back, with Arsenal wanting to use him as a defensive midfielder.
In July 2012, Tottenham agreed to a fee and terms for Vertonghen pending a medical.
Tottenham announced on 12 July that they had officially signed Vertonghen for 12 million Euros after his medical was a success. Vertonghen made his Tottenham debut in a friendly win over Brentford on 14 July and scored his first goal for the club in a 3–0 win against Carlisle United in the third round of the Football League Cup on 26 September.
Verstonghen scored his first Premier League goal against Manchester United in a 2–3 win at Old Trafford, but it was later ruled to be an own goal by Jonny Evans.
In the league for Tottenham on 16 December, he scored the only goal in a win over Swansea City at White Hart Lane.
On 10 March, Vertonghen scored a brace in a losing effort against Liverpool. He was named Premier League Player of the Month for March 2013, making him the second Belgian to win it and the 12th Spurs player to win it.
Vertonghen was sent off during Tottenham’s Europa League quarter-final second leg against Basel on 11 April 2013. Despite a 4–4 draw on aggregate, Tottenham lost the tie 4–1 on penalties.
In defense, Vertonghen was named to the 2012–13 PFA Team of the Year with Rio Ferdinand, Leighton Baines, and Pablo Zabaleta.
During a League Cup match with Aston Villa in September, Nicklas Helenius gained notoriety when Jan Vertonghen pulled down his shorts during a goal attempt, revealing his briefs.
In the following match against Chelsea, during which Fernando Torres was sent off, Chelsea coach José Mourinho believed Vertonghen shouldn’t have played due to the Helenius incident in which he alleged Vertonghen had left the striker “nak*d”.
Vertonghen seemed out of favor with new manager Mauricio Pochettino at the beginning of the 2014–15 season.
He gave Vertonghen limited playing time, preferring Younès Kaboul and Federico Fazio. Kaboul lost his position, however, to Vertonghen, who formed an effective partnership with Fazio.
Together, they had 11 wins and only one loss throughout 15 games. On 1 March 2015, Vertonghen started the 2015 League Cup Final for Tottenham, but they lost to Chelsea 2–0 at Wembley Stadium.
At the start of the 2015-16 season, Vertonghen was joined in defense by former Ajax teammate and compatriot Alderweireld.
During the first ten games of the season, Vertonghen and Alderweireld played ten of the games together, with Spurs only losing one. He suffered a medial knee ligament injury late in January 2016 and was unable to play for 11 weeks.
Tottenham beat Manchester United 3–0 at home on 10 April 2016 in the first home league victory for Tottenham against Manchester United since 2001.
The partnership with Alderweireld in the defense was considered a key to the club’s joint-lowest goal conceded total in the Premier League that season.
Vertonghen signed a new contract with Tottenham on 2 December 2016. Vertonghen suffered an ankle ligament injury in mid-January 2017, which would keep him out for five weeks.
On 19 February, he was recalled to the team for the fifth-round FA Cup match against Fulham at Craven Cottage.
Vertonghen was part of Tottenham’s defense that achieved the best defensive record in the Premier League, with only 26 goals conceded, 6 more than the previous record of 32 conceded in the 1908–09 season in the Second Division. At the time, he was considered one of the best defenders in the Premier League.

Life Journey
Simon Kjær Biography tells you about his Childhood, Early Life, Family, Parents, Children (Milas and Viggo), Ex-Wife (Camilla), and current Wife (Elina Gollert). Specifically, Dane’s net worth and personal life.
You will follow the center-back’s life journey, from his early days to when he became famous.
Simon Kjær, the Danish captain who became a hero during Euro 2020, will never be forgotten by the football world. Christian Eriksen’s life was saved by his calm act of administering vital health measures before the doctors arrived.
We present you with his fascinating expeditions that led to his stardom in the 21st century. Let’s begin.
He is known as ‘The Viking’ in Biography. Simon Thorup Kjær was born in Horsens, Denmark, on the 26th day of March 1989, to his Danish father, Jorn Kjær, and his Danish mother, Lotte Kjær. During his father and mother’s union, the defender was the eldest of two children. In the young boy’s opinion, there was no better way to spend childhood days than sitting with his mother.
Having the chance to listen to her exciting fairytales all the time is a wonderful experience for him. As a child, he no doubts made a lot of happy memories with his parents.
Growing up in Horsens, soccer was always the priority for the upcoming defender. While growing up, he enjoyed spending time with his sister (Alberte Kjær). A memorable part of his youthful days was, however, his participation in football.
At the age of four, Kjær had already mastered the art of kicking a ball. Even though he was not the most talented of his peers, he gave his all to the game.
Firstly, his household is not super-wealthy but has fared well as average Danish citizens. Simon Kjær comes from humble middle-class family background. The center-back’s household is driven by a caring father (Jorn Kjær) who works hard to provide for his entire household.
Despite their average financial status, Kjær’s family cherishes each other with affection and closeness.
The defender will never forget the place where his career expedition all began, where his career began. He is a native of Horsens, a city that houses about 59,966 people in Denmark.
Would you like to know?… His place of origin is known for its cultural and entertainment events. There is a New Theatre in Horsens that serves as a cultural center and hosts over 200 events each year.
In the opinion of his father, our boy grew up in an era in which players were judged by their physical appearance rather than by their innate abilities. It was necessary for him to look big to prove he could handle himself on the pitch. Moreover, he needed to be connected to prominent personalities before he could become a full-fledged player, or at least that’s how the system saw it.
Interestingly enough, he did not seem to be bothered by the limitations that threatened his success. His parents enrolled him in a small-time football academy (Lund IF) near Horsens. The defender had outgrown the facilities and technical provisions at Lund IF when he turned 15.
Seeing his career on the line, his father made contact with the professional soccer club – FC Midtjylland – where he worked. Thankfully, the academy accepted Kjær so his dad wouldn’t lose his job. However, they never thought he had any talent for the game.
This young lad worked hard to improve himself instead of getting upset by their disapproval of his abilities. In 2016, Kjær shocked his entire team by winning the best player award at the French youth tournament.
It is notable that he graduated from FC Midtjylland’s academy as one of the first players. Midtjylland eventually had Kjær sign a 5-year contract with the club after rejecting several transfer offers. Consequently, in 2007, the athlete made his senior debut in the Superliga.
Several prominent clubs discussed his departure from his team after his outstanding performance. Kjær ended up signing a 5-year contract with Palermo in 2008 for €4 million. His career with the Italian club suffered a setback due to his difficulty adapting to the competitions in Palermo’s defense.
Even so, he did well in his first two appearances for the club to impress many fans with his abilities. Kjær secured his spot as Palermo’s center-back within such a short period of time.
In addition to Danish, Kjær speaks five languages, including English and Italian (which he learned in Palermo). As a child, he idolized John Terry and Fabio Cannavaro and supported Liverpool. His mother, a teacher, was not supportive of him becoming a footballer.
Kjær was able to earn his diploma despite not enjoying studying in school. Kjær married his long-term girlfriend, Camilla. The two have been together since they were fifteen. They eventually broke up, and Kjær began a relationship with Swedish national, Elina Gollert. Together, they have two children, Milas and Viggo.
They were married in the summer of 2017. Kjær talked about superstitions, saying: “I believe in them, but I don’t practice them. Before every game, I wear the right sock.”

Kjær began playing football at the age of four when he was born in Horsens. After this, he joined the small-time club Lund IF near Horsens, before joining the youth team of Danish Superliga club FC Midtjylland in 2004, where his father was team manager.
The player was one of the first to graduate from FCM’s football academy, the first of its kind in Denmark, joining fellow Midtjylland teammates Jesper Weinkouff and Christian Sivebik, as well as former teammate Winston Reid.
Initially, Kjær played the midfield position before one of his coaches switched him to the defender, a position he continues to play to this day.
Kjær, while he was in the club system, won the best player award at a French youth tournament in April 2006. Midtjylland subsequently rejected offers from Lille OSC for Kjær and Jesper Juelsgård.
In June 2006, Kjær made his Midtjylland debut in the Viasat Cup training matches. Two months later, he signed his first professional contract, keeping him until 2009.
The player was promoted to the first-team squad in January 2007. During his trial with Real Madrid in August 2007, FC Midtjylland rejected their transfer offer. In September 2007, Kjær signed a five-year contract with Midtjylland instead.
In the 2–0 victory over AGF on 30 September 2007, Kjær made his Superliga debut. By October 2007, his performances had attracted the attention of both Middlesbrough and Chelsea. In the first half of the Danish Superliga 2007–08 season, he played three more matches.
In the second half of the Superliga season, Kjær formed a defensive partnership with Magnus Troest. Between 29 March 2008 and 13 April 2008, he kept three consecutive clean sheets against OB, Copenhagen, and AaB.
Palermo
Kjr signed a five-year contract with Palermo in February 2008, effective from summer 2008, earning Midtjylland a transfer fee of €4 million. During the club’s press conference on 5 June 2008, he was introduced alongside new signing Andrea Raggi.
The beginning of his Palermo career suffered a setback when Kjær faced competition in the club’s defense, as well as, adapted to life in Italy.
He made his Palermo debut on 26 October 2008, coming on as a halftime substitute against Fiorentina in Serie A. The club praised his performance following the match. He made his first appearance for the club three days later in a 1–1 draw against Lecce.
On 2 November 2008, Kjær scored his first goal for Palermo and set up the club’s first goal, as Palermo won 3–0 against Chievo.
In the first team, he has established himself as a center-back, playing in the starting eleven. He was named the second-best player under 21 in Serie A by La Gazzetta Dello Sport because of his physical strength and tenacity.
His second goal of the season didn’t come until 15 March 2009, in a 5–2 win over Lecce. Kjær then scored his third goal of the season in a 4-1 victory over Bologna on 19 April 2009.
As a result of his performance, he was named to Serie A’s Team of the Week. Kjær finished the 2008–09 season as the club’s top defender in Serie A with three goals in 27 appearances across all competitions.
The 2009–10 season saw Kjær confirm his reputation as a first-team regular and form a strong defensive partnership with Cesare Bovo. The Sicilian club responded by offering him an improved contract in September 2009.
In the 2009–10 season, Kjær started every match until he was suspended for one match. When Palermo lost 5–3 to Inter Milan on 29 October 2009, he returned to the starting line-up after serving a suspension.
Kjær scored his first goal of the season a week later, in a 3–1 loss to Bologna on 8 November 2009. After a successful first season at Palermo, he was named Denmark’s 2009 Talent of the Year in November 2009, beating Arsenal’s Nicklas Bendtner and Ajax’s Christian Eriksen.
Additionally, in January 2010, he was named Danish Footballer of the Year for 2009. Kjær scored Palermo’s second goal against Cagliari the next day, as the match ended 2–1. Upon returning from suspension, he started the next ten league matches before being suspended again.
Having served a one-match suspension, Kjær returned to the starting lineup against Fiorentina on 24 January 2010 and helped the club keep a clean sheet in a 3–0 win.
In a 2–2 draw against Genoa on 24 March 2010, he was sent off for a second bookable offense and started the next nine league matches.
Kjær returned to the starting line-up against Catania on 3 April 2010 following a one-match suspension.
In the 2009–10 season, he started all the remaining matches and helped the team qualify for the UEFA Europa League by finishing fifth. Kjær scored twice in a total of 35 Serie A games (38 appearances, two goals in all competitions) during the 2009–10 season.
VfL Wolfsburg
VfL Wolfsburg confirmed on 30 June 2010 that it had opened talks with Kjær. There were reports of interest from teams across Europe, including Manchester United, Manchester City, and Tottenham Hotspur as well as Italian side Juventus.
Kjær’s signing was confirmed on 8 July 2010, when the club paid an undisclosed fee believed to be over £10 million. Kjær became the most expensive Danish footballer of all time when the deal was completed.
The move from Serie A to the Bundesliga meant that Kjær would become one of the most highly paid Danish footballers with an annual salary of around €3 million.
Morten Olsen and the player, himself, both agreed that the move to Wolfsburg was both financially feasible and a step in the right direction for the young Danish defender’s development.
Kjær made his unofficial debut for VfL Wolfsburg in a pre-season match against FC Augsburg, in which Wolfsburg won 1–0.
He made his VfL Wolfsburg debut on 15 August 2010, starting the entire game in a 2–1 victory against Preußen Münster in the first round of the DFB-Pokal. Five days later, on 20 August 2010, he made his Bundesliga debut for Wolfsburg in a 2–1 loss to Bayern Munich.
Despite a poor start to the season with Wolfsburg, with varying results and unmet expectations, Kjær scored his first goal for Wolfsburg in a 2–0 win over Stuttgart when he headed the ball over the line after a corner kick.
The goal was ultimately credited to Edin D*eko after it was shown that the ball deflected from Džeko’s shot. Kjær started all 17 Bundesliga matches in the autumn 2010 season, despite widespread criticism from the media for his poor performances.
Following a successful partnership with Italy international Andrea Barzagli in Wolfsburg’s central defense, he then played alongside German international Arne Friedrich.
After seven straight drawn games, Kjær scored his first Bundesliga goal with a headed goal in the 83rd minute of a 1–0 win against Mainz 05, securing the first victory in eight matches for the club.
Felix Magath returned to Wolfsburg in February 2011 following the sacking of Steve McClaren due to further poor results (the manager guided the club to their first Bundesliga title) and criticized the ‘poor condition’ of the players he inherited (including Kjær) from McClaren. A public declaration of affection for Steve McClaren was made by Kjær following the dismissal.
Kjær apologized for the firing and said he was happy to work with Steve McClaren. Even after Magath’s comment, Kjær retained his first-team spot for the rest of the 2010-11 season, though it was met with frustration as the club narrowly avoided relegation the previous year and he had come under fire for some lackluster performances.
Despite being sidelined on three occasions during the 2010–11 season, he played 34 games and scored once across all competitions.
Kjær revealed in the summer transfer window of 2011 that Magath told him he was free to leave that summer, and that he had fallen out of favor with Magath. Kjær played four games for Wolfsburg before leaving for Roma amid transfer speculation.
Loan to Roma
Roma confirmed they will sign striker Kjær for €10 million from Wolfsburg as a replacement for Philippe Mexès, who left for AC Milan on a free transfer.
However, the transfer to Roma was put on hold after Wolfsburg recalled the defender, according to reports in Italy.
Kjær was instead loaned to Roma on 30 August 2011, with an option to buy at the end of the season. The 17 September 2011 match at Inter Milan ended in a 0–0 draw for Kjær’s Roma debut. On 16 October 2011, however, he received a straight red card for a foul on Cristian Brocchi in the 50th minute, resulting in a penalty that was converted by the opposition team.
Due to suspension and injury concerns, Kjær missed the next four matches after the match. The club won 2–1 against Leece on 20 November 2011, when he returned to the starting line-up.
His return was short-lived when he sustained an injury that kept him sidelined for a month. When he returned to the starting line-up for Roma’s match against Fiorentina in the Round of 16 of the Coppa Italia on 11 January 2012, he helped the team keep a clean sheet, in a 3–0 win.
However, in Roma’s 4–2 loss to Cagliari on 1 February 2012, Kjær was at fault for his poor performance and was largely disappointing.
After the game, Roma director Walter Sabatini hinted that the club might decide not to sign Kjær on a permanent basis because of his poor performance. Throughout the rest of the 2011–12 season, he remained in the first team.
Kjær made 24 appearances throughout the 2011–12 season, despite being sidelined twice more. Following this, Roma decided not to sign Kjær permanently due to his poor performances.
Return to Wolfsburg
Kjær did not return to Wolfsburg after his loan spell at Roma ended after coach Magath decided the Dane would not be included in his first-team plans for 2012-13.
A few days later, Magath announced that he had changed his mind and was eager to integrate Kjær into Wolfsburg’s first team.
In Wolfsburg’s opening match of the 2012–13 season against VfB Stuttgart, he came on as a late substitute to win 1–0. Kjær missed the match against Hannover 96 due to a potential transfer to Galatasaray, which eventually fell through, but returned to the starting XI against FC Augsburg on 16 September 2012, drawing 0–0.
Both he and his Danish compatriot Thomas Kahlenberg were praised by Manager Magath after the match. Kjær, however, found himself on the substitute bench in the first three months of the season.
Following Magath’s sacking, he returned to the pitch against Fortuna Düsseldorf on 27 October 2012, helping the club win 4-1.
The following season, Kjær returned to the first team, playing in the center back position under the new management of Lorenz-Günther Köstner and Dieter Hecking. In a 1–1 draw with Hamburger SV on 2 December 2012, he scored his first goal of the season.
On 19 January 2013, Kjær assisted on the club’s second goal of the game in a 2–0 win over Stuttgart. He was dropped from the starting line-up for the next three matches after his performance against Hannover 96 on 26 January 2013.
Kjær made his return to the starting line-up against Mainz 05 on 23 February 2013, in a 1-1 draw. Following the match, he regained his place in the first team for the next seven games. Kjær scored his second goal of the season in a 1-1 draw against Bayer Leverkusen on 6 April 2013.
Against Werder Bremen two weeks later, on 20 April 2013, he set up Wolfsburg’s first goal before being substituted in the 54th minute due to an abductor problem.
After the match, Kjær did not play for the club for the rest of the season. In all competitions, he scored two goals in 25 appearances at the end of the 2012–13 season.
Lille LOSC
Lille announced on 5 July 2013 that Kjær had agreed to a four-year contract. In Lille’s 1–0 victory over FC Lorient in the season’s first game, Kjær kept a clean sheet.
He quickly established himself in the club’s starting eleven as a center-back, forming a partnership with Marko Baša.

Kjær regained his first-team position since returning from injury, playing at center-back. He still managed to make 42 appearances and score three goals in all competitions despite being sidelined five times during the 2014-15 season.
As a result of transfer speculation over the summer, it was announced on 16 June 2015 that Kjær had joined Fenerbahçe, signing a four-year contract for €7.65 million.
A 0–0 draw against Shakhtar Donetsk in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League Third Round marked Kjær’s Fenerbahçe debut.
In the return leg, however, he was sent-off for his second bookable offense, and their team lost 3–0, eliminating them from the tournament.
Fenerbahçe drew 1-1 with Aykur Rizespor in Kjær’s league debut, as he started the entire game. He suffered an ankle injury while on international duty, which sidelined him for three weeks.
Kjær returned to the starting line-up against Beşiktaş on 27 September 2015, only to score his own goal as the club lost 3–2.

On 24 November 2016, Kjær scored against Zorya Luhansk in the UEFA Europa League match, and the club won 2–0. On two separate occasions throughout December, he helped the club keep two consecutive clean sheets.
However, Kjær was plagued with injuries on five occasions later in the season. Despite this, he was still a member of Fenerbahçe’s first team. Kjær played 43 times and scored three goals in all competitions during his second season with the club.
Sevilla
In light of Fenerbahçe’s ban from playing European football next season, Kjær wanted to leave the club. Kjær signed a four-year deal with Sevilla on 2 August 2017 for €12,500,000.
In Sevilla’s opening game of the season, Kjær made his debut, starting the entire match in a 1–1 draw against RCD Espanyol. He was sidelined by injury twice in September.
Kjær scored his first goal for the club in a 5–1 loss to Spartak Moscow on 17 October 2017. He was a regular in the first team for the next two months, playing at center-back.
Kjær injured his left abductor muscle while training and missed three matches as a consequence. He returned to the starting lineup against Maribor on 6 December 2017 to help the club earn a 1-1 draw.
In the first leg of the Copa Del Rey Round of 16, Kjær contributed to the club’s second goal in a 2–1 victory.
He scored his first league goal for Sevilla on 6 January 2018, in a 5–3 loss against rivals, Real Betis.
Kjær, however, sustained a back injury that forced him to miss a month. When he returned to the starting lineup against Málaga on 28 February, he helped the team keep a clean sheet.
Since returning from injury, Kjær started five consecutive matches for Sevilla and was instrumental in helping the club beat Manchester United in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16.
During a 4–0 loss against Celta Vigo on 7 April 2018, Kjær injured his knee and was replaced in the 40th minute.
As a result, Sevilla qualified to play European football next season thanks to his second league goal of the season in a 2–2 draw against Real Betis on 12 May 2018.
At the end of the 2017–18 season, Kjær made 27 appearances and scored three goals. During the beginning of the 2018-19 season, KJr started every minute in the Supercopa de Espaa against Barcelona. Sevilla lost 2–1.
After returning to the first team, he played in the center-back position for the club. Kjær had been playing well until a match against SD Huesca on 28 October 2018. He suffered a hamstring injury in the 24th minute and was substituted as Sevilla won 2–1. A month later, it was announced that he would be sidelined.
Kjær started against Real Valladolid on 25 November 2018 and kept a clean sheet in the 1–0 victory. As the season progressed, he was found in and out of the starting line-up due to injuries.
In spite of this, Kjær made 37 appearances across all competitions. As a result, he was expected to leave Sevilla prior to the 2019–20 season.
Loan to Atalanta
Kjær started the whole game for Atalanta in their 2–0 win against Roma on 24 September. In October he made four more appearances for Atalanta. Nevertheless, like Martin Škrtel (his former teammate at Fenerbahçe who signed and terminated his contract with Atalanta within August 2019), he failed to convince the team’s head coach Gian Piero Gasperini. Because of this, the club terminated the loan deal six months before its expiration.
AC Milan
Kjær signed for AC Milan on loan until the end of the 2019–20 season, with the option to make the move permanent for an undisclosed fee.
He had been linked with the club in the late 2000s and early 2010s during his time with Palermo and even praised in the media by then-current Milan’s head coach Carlo Ancelotti yet the move eventually broke down as two clubs failed to agree on his transfer fee.
Kjær made his debut for the club in the Coppa Italia round of 16 on 15 January 2020, playing 82 minutes against S.P.A.L. at home. A dramatic 3–2 victory against Udinese marked his debut in Serie A as a Milan player four days later.
Kjær missed one match due to illness, but returned to the line-up on 9 February 2020, playing in the center-back position, losing 4–2 to rivals Inter Milan. In a 1–0 win against Torino on 17 February 2020, he tore his muscle and was substituted in the 44th minute due to the injury.
It was announced after the match that Kjær would be out of action for a few months. After the COVID-19 pandemic, which resulted in the suspension of League matches, he recovered from his injury and returned to the starting line-up in the second leg of the Coppa Italia semifinals against Juventus; the club drew 0–0, preventing Milan from winning the tournament.
During his first season under head coach Stefano Pioli, Kjær competed with other central defenders, namely Mateo Musacchio, Léo Duarte, and Matteo Gabbia, for a starting position in the team’s back four alongside left central defender Alessio Romagnoli.
In total, he made 11 appearances for Milan (9 in Serie A and 4 in Coppa Italia) before the club bought him out from Sevilla for €3.5 million on 15 July 2020, the date of the buy-out clause in his loan contract.
Kjær signed a contract with Milan until 30 June 2022 on 15 July 2020. Kjær’s first goal for the Rossoneri came in the first leg of the Europa League round of 16 tie against Manchester United on 11 March 2021.
He extended his contract with Milan until 2024 on 27 October 2021.
Kjær suffered a left knee injury during stoppage time in a match at Genoa on 1 December 2021. After surgery on his anterior cruciate ligament, he was sidelined for six months.
International Career
Kjær made his only appearance for Denmark U18 on 19 September 2006, in a 4–1 win over Slovakia U18. As a 17-year-old he made his debut for the Danish national under-19 football team on 6 September 2006, beating Portugal U19 3–2.

Kjær did not play in the friendly against Greece but returned to the under-21s for a single match in March 2009, where he played well enough that under-21 coach Keld Bordinggaard recommended his recall to Olsen’s squad. He made two appearances for the U21 side.
Kjær played for Denmark U20 only once, against France U20 on 19 November 2008.
Kjær was called up to the senior Danish national team in February 2009, after Morten Olsen was impressed by his form for Palermo, and saw him and Per Krldrup as the main contenders to replace the retired defender Martin Laursen.

Denmark coach Morten Olsen announced on 28 May 2010 that the player would be part of the 23-man squad attending the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
Despite starting in Denmark’s first two games, against the Netherlands and Cameroon, Kjær received a yellow card in both matches and therefore missed the crucial game against Japan.
However, in the match against Cameroon, Kjær was highly commended for his excellent long-range passing that led to Nicklas Bendtner’s first goal.
Samuel Eto’o’s performance in the World Cup was nevertheless praised by the media and the player himself. His participation in the tournament has benefited him greatly, he claims.
As a result of their 2–1 win against Portugal on 11 October 2011, the player regained his place in the national team and helped them qualify for the UEFA Euro 2012 tournament.
During Euro 2012, he was named to the final squad for the tournament. As they were eliminated from the group stage, Kjær started in each of the three games against the Netherlands, Portugal, and Germany.
During the UEFA Euro 2012 tournament, Kjær appeared four more times by the end of the year. As part of Denmark’s 2014 FIFA World Cup qualification game against the Czech Republic, he scored Denmark’s first goal on 22 March 2013.
After finishing second in the qualification, however, Kjær sat out the rest of the matches, as his country did not qualify for the World Cup.
In the aftermath of Denmark’s failure to qualify for the World Cup, Kjær was reinstated to the national team. He scored his second goal for Denmark against Serbia in the UEFA Euro 2016 qualification match on 14 November 2014.
From 13 June 2015 to 7 September 2015, Kjær helped the national team keep three consecutive clean sheets against Serbia, Albania, and Armenia.

On 3 June 2016, following Denmark’s unsuccessful qualification for the UEFA Euro 2016, Kjær captained the country for the first time in his career against Bosnia and Herzegovina, in a penalty shootout after playing 120 minutes in a 2–2 draw.
In the wake of Daniel Agger’s retirement, he was named captain of the national team.
Kjær helped the national side keep three consecutive clean sheets against Bulgaria, Liechtenstein, and Armenia from 7 June 2016 to 4 September 2016.
Then, he helped Denmark finish second in Group E of the FIFA World Cup qualification. Against the Republic of Ireland, Kjr participated in both legs of the World Cup play-offs for a place in the World Cup, winning 5–1 on aggregate and qualifying for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Denmark qualified for UEFA Euro 2020 thanks to Kjær’s captaincy against the Republic of Ireland on 18 November 2019. Kjær played his 100th match for Denmark against England in a 1–0 win away from home on 14 October 2020.
During the UEFA Euro 2020, he captained the team. After Christian Eriksen collapsed on the pitch while playing against Finland on 12 June 2021, Kjær was the first to help him and summon the medical team to the pitch.
While Eriksen was unconscious, he also ensured that his airways were unobstructed. In the aftermath, he helped his teammates cover Eriksen while he received medical treatment and consoled Eriksen’s wife Sabrina afterward.
The match was suspended after Eriksen was taken off the pitch on a stretcher. UEFA and Danish Football Association officials confirmed from the Rigshospitalet about an hour after the incident that Eriksen had been stabilized and was awake.
A resumption of the match later in the evening ended with a 1–0 victory for Finland. Despite the opening loss, Denmark went on to reach the semi-finals of UEFA Euro 2020, losing in extra time to England.

Horsens, Denmark, is the birthplace of Simon Kjær. In fact, Simon Kjær was born in Denmark.
The first youth football academy in Scandinavia was established in 2004 by FC Midtjylland in Denmark. New clubs did not pick the litter of Danish football talent, which went to bigger, more established clubs; and when the coaches formed their first team, they were short one player.
Rasmus Ankerson identified Simon Kjær, who has been playing football since the age of four. “We selected the boy more to ensure that his father would not quit his job than to see if he had a future in the game,” explains Rasmus Ankerson.
In the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, Rasmus Ankerson, the boy selected as an unwanted player, started as Denmark’s center back against the Netherlands. He has appeared 30 times for Denmark since 2004 and has played for many teams in Italy, Germany, France, and Spain. Not bad for a 15-year-old nobody wanted.
Five years later, shortly after Kjær was sold to Palermo for a tidy transfer fee of €4m, those results were made public. Not even one of the highly qualified, UEFA “A” licensed coaches had Kjær on their list.
Elina Gollert is married to Simon Kjær. Elina Gollert is the wife of Simon Kjær. The Danish WAG Elina Gollert is well-known around the world.
At his 31st appearance for Denmark, he also scored his first goal, and in June 2016, he acquired the captain’s armband from Agger. A confident center-back with excellent skills in aerial duels, Kjær is a reliable performer.
He is an Evangelical Lutheran, as are most Danish people. Denmark’s official religion is Evangelical Lutheran, as stated in the Danish Constitution. Nearly 85% of the Danish population is Evangelical Lutheran, 3% is Roman Catholic, and approximately 5% is Muslim.
Simon Kjær’s transfer statistics are pretty impressive. Based on Simon Kjær’s career stats, he has played 461 games and scored 21 goals and 9 assists.
After growing up in the FC Midtjylland academy, Simon Kjær joined Palermo for a fee of €4 million. In 57 games, he scored 3 goals after leaving Liverpool for Wolfsburg (€12.50m). Having played for Wolfsburg for a great deal of time, he returned to Serie A by joining AS Roma on a season-long loan. Afterward, Kjær joined Lille for €2.50m.
Fenerbahce (€7m) was his next destination. After impressing in Turkey, he transferred to Sevilla for €12.50m. Following his stint at Sevilla, Kjær joined Atalanta on loan, followed by AC Milan. Simon Kjær was signed permanently by AC Milan for €2.5m after Milan chose to exercise his release clause. AC Milan is Simon Kjær’s current club.
