Chunky Pandey was involved initially with former VJ and Miss India Anu Kottoor. They dated for a brief period of time for almost two years before getting engaged to each other. The relationship could not materialize and never saw the light of the day. After their engagement both parted their separate ways. Chunky was at the peak of his career at that time and Anu also was trying to make a name for herself in the show biz business. This is said to be one of the main reasons for their break up as per media reports.

His Ideal Woman

Chunky has its own flavourful answer to the question when asked about the ideal person for him. Sarcastically he said that he needed some tough love to get by from point A to point B since he is a big-time lazy person. Chunky says that the ideal person should be caring, and funny and needs to know how to cook since he was tired of women who didn’t know a thing about cooking.

Marriage was not really the answer to his woes, that’s what chunky believed in the early part of his career before his career came to a standstill. He was at the low point of his life and was getting out of a relationship.

Wedding bells came ringing when he least expected it and says that he is glad to have made that decision to marry his then-girlfriend Bhavna who is his wife now. Marriage and kids helped him a great deal from overcoming his troubles. When asked the same thing to Bhavna, she said that marriage for her was an eye-opener too as it was for Chunky. Early Life

Barry Alan Pincus was born on June 17, 1943, in Brooklyn, New York, to Edna Manilow and Harold Pincus (who went by his own stepfather’s surname, Keliher). Manilow was born to a Jewish father and a Catholic mother from Ireland. Manilow’s maternal ancestors were Jewish Russian immigrants. His Irish ancestors came from Limerick, Ireland.

Manilow grew up in Brooklyn’s Williamsburg area, graduating from the now-defunct Eastern District High School in 1961. He met Susan Deixler, who would eventually become his wife, while still in high school. He attended City College of New York for a short time before enrolling in the New York College of Music.

He also worked at CBS while a student to help pay for his bills. He went on to study Musical Theater at the Juilliard School of Performing Arts.

Personal Life

  • In 1964, Manilow married Susan Deixler, his high school sweetheart.
  • Manilow subsequently remarked that he loved his wife and that his desire to pursue a career in music, along with his lack of maturity, had put a strain on their relationship.
  • He divorced his “ideal bride” after only one year of marriage in order to pursue a “wondrous musical adventure.”
  • Manilow attributes his confidence to leave everything behind and pursue a career in music to the answer he received from Playboy in December 1965.
  • “I asked a number of people what I should do, and everyone told me something different,” Manilow remarked.
  • “I was finally desperate enough to write to the Playboy Advisor.”
  • Deixler had the marriage dissolved in 1966.
  • Despite his later long-term relationship with a man, Manilow declared in 2017 that he was in love with Deixler and that the dissolution of his marriage was not due to sexual orientation concerns.
  • In 1978, Manilow started dating TV executive Garry Kief, who would later become his manager.
  • After same-sex marriage became legal in California in 2014, the two wedded.
  • Until the marriage made news in 2015, they kept their relationship and his gay orientation covert.
  • Manilow was adamant about keeping his personal relationship with Kief private.
  • When a friend of Manilow’s, Suzanne Somers, publicly revealed the private exchanging of vows at Manilow’s house in Palm Springs, the event became widely publicised.
  • Although no legal documentation was filed, Manilow and Kief were said to have exchanged wedding bands as a symbol of their commitment.
  • Manilow came out publicly in April 2017, telling People that he had kept his sexual orientation a secret out of fear of disappointing his predominantly female fan base.
  • When his admirers found out about the nuptials, they were ecstatic.

Professional Career

  • Bro Herrod, a CBS director, approached Manilow in 1964 and requested him to arrange some songs for a musical adaption of the play The Drunkard. Instead, Manilow composed a whole new soundtrack.
  • The Off Broadway show, which ran for eight years at New York’s 13th Street Theatre, included Manilow’s composition.
  • Manilow thereafter worked as a pianist, producer, and arranger to supplement his income.
  • He began working as a commercial jingle writer and vocalist around this time, which he pursued throughout the 1960s.
  • He would perform many of the TV commercials he created, such as State Farm Insurance (“Like a nice neighbour, State Farm is there”) and Band-Aid (“I am stuck on Band-Aid because Band-Aid is stuck on me!”).
  • Commercials for Kentucky Fried Chicken, Pepsi (“all throughout the nation, it’s the Pepsi generation”), McDonald’s (“you deserve a break today”), and Dr Pepper are among his singing-only credits.
  • For his efforts as a jingle writer and vocalist in the 1960s, Manilow received an Honorary Clio at the 50th Anniversary Clio Awards in Las Vegas in 2009.
  • When winning the prize, he remarked that working as a jingle writer for three or four years taught him the most about composing pop music.
  • Manilow was the musical director for the WCBS-TV series Callback by 1967, which aired on January 27, 1968.
  • He then led and arranged for Ed Sullivan’s production firm, creating, producing, and performing his radio and television jingles, as well as arranging a new theme for The Late Show.
  • At the same time, he and Jeanne Lucas played as a duo at Julius Monk’s Upstairs at the Downstairs club in New York for a two-season engagement.
  • Tony Orlando, a vice president of Columbia/CBS Music and a recording artist, signed Manilow in 1969 and went on to co-write and produce Manilow and a group of studio musicians under the moniker “Featherbed” on Columbia Pictures’ newly acquired Bell Records label.”
  • In the first two years of the 1970s, Manilow recorded and accompanied performers on the piano for auditions and concerts.
  • On Bell Records, he recorded four songs as Featherbed, which were produced by Tony Orlando.
  • “Morning,” a ballad; “Amy,” a psychedelic-influenced pop tune; and “Could It Be Magic,” an early, uptempo version of his own work with Orlando as co-writer.
  • “Rosalie Rosie,” a fourth song recorded, was supposed to be the flip side of “Could It Be Magic,” but Bell Records chose “Morning” for Featherbed’s second release instead.
  • Both singles released had no influence on the charts.
  • Bette Midler watched Manilow’s performance in 1971 and hired him as her pianist at the Continental Baths in New York City the following year, as well as a producer on her first and second albums, The Divine Miss M (1972) and Bette Midler (1973). (1973).
  • On the tour for her debut record, he also served as her musical director.
  • For his producing work on ‘The Divine Miss M,’ Manilow was nominated for a Grammy Award for Album Of The Year in 1973.
  • From 1971 through 1975, Manilow collaborated with Midler.
  • Following the failure of the Featherbed songs to chart, Bell Records issued Barry Manilow in July 1973, which featured an unusual blend of piano-driven pop and guitar-driven rock music.
  • This includes “I Am Your Child,” a song Manilow co-wrote with Marty Panzer for the 1972 Vietnam War film Parades.
  • Jon Hendricks’ vocalese jazz staple “Cloudburst,” which was most effectively recorded by his quartet Lambert, Hendricks, and Ross in 1959, and a slower-tempo rendition of “Could It Be Magic” were among the album’s other tunes.
  • The latter’s melody was inspired by Chopin’s “Prelude in C Minor, Opus 28, Number 20,” and it became one of Donna Summer’s first hits. (In the 1990s, Take That covered it as an upbeat dance version of the song.) Take That’s Beautiful World Tour has subsequently used Manilow’s original version.)
  • Clive Davis was appointed interim president of Bell in 1974 with the objective of reviving Columbia Pictures’ music business. Davis launched Columbia Pictures’ new record subsidiary, Arista, in November 1974, with a $10 million investment from CPI and a reorganisation of the several Columbia Pictures legacy labels (Colpix, Colgems, and Bell).
  • Davis owned 20% of the new enterprise. In January 1975, Manilow’s breakthrough 1974 single “Mandy” (Bell 45,613) became the label’s final number one hit, followed by Tony Orlando and Dawn’s “Look in My Eyes Pretty Woman” (Bell 45,620—US #11), after which the more successful Bell albums were released on Arista.
  • The final Bell records include the inscription “Bell Records, Distributed by Arista Records, 1776 Broadway, New York, New York 10019” across the label’s rim.
  • Davis’ organisational efforts paid off in 1974, when Manilow’s second album, Barry Manilow II, was released, with “Mandy” as the lead hit.
  • Manilow had first refused to record the song, which was originally titled “Brandy” when co-writer Scott English recorded it, but Davis insisted on it being included.
  • Because there was already a song named “Brandy (You’re a Fine Girl)” sung by Looking Glass and released in 1972 on Davis’ Epic label, the title was altered to “Mandy” during the actual recording session on August 20, 1974.
  • The multi-platinum and multi-hit albums Tryin’ to Get the Feeling, This One’s for You, Even Now, and One Voice launched a streak of successful songs and albums that lasted until the early 1980s.
  • The original Bell Records album was remixed and published on Arista Records as Barry Manilow I, following the success of Barry Manilow II.
  • When Manilow first went on tour, he incorporated “A V.S.M.”, or “A Very Strange Medley,” a collection of commercial jingles that he had written, recorded, and/or sang in the 1960s, in his performance.
  • The medley was ultimately included on his triple-platinum album Barry Manilow Live, released in 1977.
  • A productive partnership with Dick Clark began with Manilow’s debut on American Bandstand on March 22, 1975, to promote the second album.
  • Many appearances by Manilow on Clark’s productions of Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, singing his original seasonal favourite “It’s Just Another New Year’s Eve,” American Bandstand anniversary shows, American Music Awards performances, and the 1985 television movie Copacabana, starring Manilow and executive produced by Clark, were among their collaborative projects.
  • Despite the fact that he was a composer in his own right, Manilow’s financial achievements were based on songs written by others.
  • Other hits that he did not write or compose include “Tryin’ to Get the Feeling Again” (by David Pomeranz), “Weekend in New England” (by Randy Edelman), “Ships” (by Ian Hunter), “Looks Like We Made It” (by Richard Kerr and Will Jennings), “Can’t Smile Without You,” and “Ready to Take a Chance Again” (by Richard Kerr and Will Jennings) (by Charles Fox and Norman Gimbel). Bruce Johnston of The Beach Boys penned his number one song “I Write the Songs.”
  • Manilow did, however, co-produce and arrange all of the above tracks alongside Ron Dante, who is most known for his vocals on The Archies’ albums, according to the CD liner notes.
  • Even Now, Manilow’s first of many top-20 albums on this side of the Atlantic had four tracks that became significant hits in the United States.
  • Manilow Magic – The Best Of Barry Manilow, often known as Greatest Hits, was released shortly after.
  • ABC aired four variety television specials starring Manilow, who also acted as executive producer, in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
  • On March 2, 1977, a 37 million-person audience saw The Barry Manilow Special with Penny Marshall as his guest.
  • The show received four Emmy nominations and won the award for “Outstanding Comedy-Variety or Music Special.”
  • In 1978, the Second Barry Manilow Special received four Emmy nominations.
  • “Ready to Take a Chance Again” by Barry Manilow was included in the film Foul Play, along with “Copacabana” from his fourth studio album Even Now. That year, “Ready to Take a Chance Again” was nominated for an Academy Award for “Best Original Song.”
  • On February 11, 1979, a concert from Manilow’s sold-out shows at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles was broadcast on HBO’s Standing Room Only, which was the first pay-television show to seriously compete with network primetime specials in terms of ratings.
  • A one-hour special from Manilow’s sold-out concert at the Royal Albert Hall was broadcast in the UK on the same tour in 1978.
  • The Third Barry Manilow Special, with John Denver as his guest, was broadcast on ABC on May 23, 1979.
  • This show received two Emmy nominations, one of which was for “Outstanding Achievement in Choreography.”
  • Manilow also produced Dionne Warwick’s “comeback” album Dionne, which went platinum.
  • In the fall of 1979, he had his own top 10 success with the song “Ships” from the album One Voice (written and performed by Ian Hunter, former lead vocalist of Mott the Hoople).
  • Manilow had two specials filmed in the Tennessee Performing Arts Center in Nashville, Tennessee, in 2000: Manilow Country and Manilow Live! The Nashville Network (TNN) aired Manilow Country on April 11, 2000, which featured country stars Trisha Yearwood, Neal McCoy, Deana Carter, Jo Dee Messina, Lorrie Morgan, Kevin Sharp, Lila McCann, Gillian Welch, and Jaci Velasquez singing their favourite Manilow hits with a “country” twist; Manilow also performed.
  • This was TNN’s inaugural HD broadcast, and it quickly became one of the network’s most popular concert specials.
  • Manilow Live!, a two-hour performance spectacular with his band, a 30-piece orchestra, and a choir, broadcast on DirectTV in June 2000.
  • This HDTV special, which was also available on VHS, covered his current concert tour, which included his best hits.
  • In the same year, he collaborated with Monica Mancini on her Concord album The Dreams of Johnny Mercer, which had seven songs set to Manilow’s music.
  • Meanwhile, due to changed management, Manilow’s record deal with Arista Records was not extended.
  • He subsequently signed a deal with Concord Records in California, a jazz-oriented company, and began work on the long-awaited concept album Here at the Mayflower. Manilow authored and produced nearly all of the songs on the album.
  • During a 1960s skit, Manilow performed live in 2008.
  • The Barry Manilow Scholarship was given to the six highest-achieving students in the art and craft of lyric composition for four straight years (2002–2005) when Manilow was at Concord Records. Marty Panzer, a long-time Manilow collaborator, presented the UCLA Extension course “Writing Lyrics That Succeed and Endure,” and each student received three extra “master class” advanced sessions and a three-hour private, one-on-one session with Panzer.
  • The teacher chose scholarship candidates based on their progress in the course, their ability to write lyrics, and the instructor’s appraisal of true promise in the field of songwriting.
  • When Arista issued Ultimate Manilow, a greatest hits album, in February 2002, Manilow returned to the charts.
  • Manilow returned to CBS on May 18, 2002, with Ultimate Manilow, his first special for the network since 1988’s Big Fun on Swing Street. The show, which was shot at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, California, received an Emmy nomination for “Outstanding Music Direction.”
  • Bette Midler Sings the Rosemary Clooney Songbook, produced by Manilow, was published on September 30, 2003. It was the first time the two had collaborated in well over two decades.
  • Bette Midler Sings the Peggy Lee Songbook was released in 2005, and the CD earned gold. A Barry Manilow Christmas: Live by Request, his second of two concerts for the series, was broadcast on A&E on December 3, 2003.
  • Manilow took requests for Christmas songs to be played live with a band and orchestra throughout the two-hour extravaganza.
  • Manilow assured the crowd that he was going to look like Clay Aiken in thirty years, confirming a long-standing similarity between the two.
  • Cyndi Lauper, José Feliciano, and Bette Midler were among the special’s guests (Midler, busy preparing her own tour in Los Angeles, appeared only in a pre-taped segment).
  • Then, in 2004, Manilow released two albums: 2 Nights Live! (BMG Strategic Marketing Group, 2004) and Scores: Songs from Copacabana & Harmony (BMG Strategic Marketing Group, 2004).
  • Scores were Manilow’s final collaboration with the Concord label. In 2008, Manilow performed live at the piano.
  • In January 2007, Manilow performed three gigs at Madison Square Garden in his homeland of New York City.

Relationships

In the past, Barry Manilow has had partnerships with both men and women. Susan Deixler, his high school sweetheart, was his first love, whom he married in 1964. Despite the fact that Manilow has always said that he sincerely loved Deixler, he ended their relationship after one year in order to concentrate solely on his musical profession.

Although Manilow has maintained that his desire for Susan was real and that he did not leave the marriage because of his gay emotions, he would subsequently get romantically connected with males.

Barry began dating Garry Kief, a TV executive, in 1978. This relationship lasted until 2014 when the couple was finally permitted to marry when California legalised same-sex marriage.  He had previously kept his relationship with Kief a secret out of fear that his sexual orientation might offend his admirers, particularly his vast female following.

Chelsea

Mount was promoted to Chelsea’s senior team at the age of 18; he had previously made his debut for the club’s under-18 team in 2014, at the age of 15, and had also featured routinely for the club’s under-21 team by 2016.

Mount scored 10 goals in 30 appearances for the club’s winning U18 Premier League season in 2016–17. By 2017, he had also won two FA Youth Cups, the UEFA Youth League, and the Chelsea Academy Player of the Year award.

Loans to Vitesse and Derby County in 2017–19

Mount signed a season-long loan with Dutch Eredivisie club Vitesse on July 24, 2017. On August 26, he made his first-team debut as a 77th-minute replacement in Vitesse’s 2–1 home loss to AZ. The following month, he made his debut in Vitesse’s KNVB Cup first-round defeat away to fifth-tier side Swift, playing the whole 90-minute draw, which Swift won on penalties.

On 1 October, he scored his first goal for Vitesse in the 76th minute of a 1–1 home tie with Utrecht. Mason Mount was named to the Eredivisie Team of the Year and was named Vitesse Player of the Year.

Mount earned his maiden hat-trick in Vitesse’s Eredivisie European play-off semi-final first leg against ADO Den Haag on May 9, 2018, as Vitesse won 5–2 away. He scored in the second leg to help Vitesse win 7–3 on aggregate. Mount scored in the first leg of the final against Utrecht, but was booked and so suspended for the second game. Mason Mount made 39 appearances for Vitesse in all competitions, scoring 14 goals before joining Chelsea.

He signed a season-long loan with Championship club Derby County on July 17, 2018. On his Derby debut on 3 August 2018, he scored a 60th-minute equaliser in a 2–1 away win over Reading.

Mason Mount was out for two months after injuring his hamstring in an FA Cup match against Accrington Stanley. He made his comeback in a 6–1 triumph over Rotherham United, gaining a penalty for teammate Martyn Waghorn and scored afterwards. Two weeks later, he scored his second senior hat-trick in a 4–0 Championship league win over Bolton Wanderers, keeping Derby in the promotion playoff picture.

2019-20

Mount signed a new five-year deal with Chelsea on July 15, 2019. On 11 August 2019, he made his competitive debut for Chelsea in a 0–4 Premier League away loss to Manchester United.

He scored his first Chelsea goal a week later against Leicester City in a 1–1 draw at Stamford Bridge on Frank Lampard’s home debut as manager, and added another in the next game away to Norwich City. In the Champions League opener against Valencia on September 17, he suffered an ankle injury.

Chelsea confronted Mount in March 2020 for violating self-isolation guidelines during the COVID-19 epidemic. Mount had gone to play football with pals, including West Ham’s Declan Rice, while the entire team was compelled to self-isolate owing to Callum Hudson-positive Odoi’s COVID-19 test. He became the first Chelsea Academy graduate to make his first team debut and accomplish 50 appearances in the same season on July 22, 2020.

Mount scored the first goal from a free kick and assisted Olivier Giroud for the second goal on the last day of the 2019–20 Premier League season, helping Chelsea win a spot in the 2020–21 UEFA Champions League.

2020–21

Mount had a strong start to the 2020–21 season, appearing in all Chelsea games, including the one against Barnsley in the third round of the EFL Cup on September 23, which finished in a 6–0 triumph at home. He scored his first goal of the season three days later, on September 26, against West Bromwich Albion in a 3–3 away tie.

Mason Mount, on the other hand, missed the deciding penalty in Chelsea’s 5–4 shootout loss against Tottenham Hotspur in the fourth round of the EFL Cup on September 29. He scored in back-to-back games in January, first in a 4–0 FA Cup third-round win at Morecambe and then in a 1–0 Premier League win against Fulham.

Mason Mount captained Chelsea for the first time in the FA Cup on January 24, 2021, in a 3–1 victory over Luton Town at home. He scored the only goal in Liverpool’s 1–0 away league triumph on March 4, delivering the Reds a fifth successive league defeat at Anfield for the first time in club history.

Mount scored his first goal in European football in Chelsea’s 2–0 win against Porto in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final on 7 April, becoming the club’s youngest player to do so. On April 27, he made his 100th appearance for Chelsea in a 1–1 away draw against Real Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final.

Chelsea Player of the Year

On May 5, he scored the second goal in a 2–0 triumph against Real Madrid in the second leg in London, helping Chelsea progress to the Champions League Final 3–1 on aggregate.

Early in the season, fans and the media claimed that Mount’s inclusion in the Chelsea and England starting lineups was due to favouritism on the part of the respective team managers, Lampard and Gareth Southgate.

These concerns were allayed when Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel acknowledged Mount’s growing dependence on him, calling him “crucial for our game” and “an incredibly vital player,” and naming him one of Europe’s finest players.

Mount was named Chelsea’s Player of the Year on May 18. Mason assisted Kai Havertz’s goal as Chelsea won the Champions League for the second time in their history, 1–0 against Manchester City in the final in Porto on May 29, Mount’s first title with the club.

2021-22

Mount scored Chelsea’s fourth penalty in the subsequent shoot-out on 11 August 2021. It was following a 1–1 tie after extra time in the 2021 UEFA Super Cup against Villarreal. Chelsea won 6–5 for their second UEFA Super Cup championship. Mount was one of five Chelsea players included to the final 30-man shortlist for the Ballon d’Or in 2021. He scored his first goals of the season and his first hat-trick for Chelsea. Both in a 7–0 home triumph over Norwich City on October 23.

Mason Mount became the youngest Chelsea player to score in four consecutive Premier League games in December. His goals came on consecutive trips to Watford and West Ham, and at home against Leeds United and Everton.

Mount became the youngest Chelsea player in Premier League history to score 20 goals. This happened on December 16, when he was 22 years and 340 days old. He was nominated for Player of the Month for his four goals and three assists throughout the month. Therefore, his goal against West Ham was nominated for Goal of the Month.

Mason Mount scored his 11th Premier League goal of the season and assisted Christian Pulisic to make it 2–0 against Leeds United on May 11, earning him double digits in both goals and assists and making him only the sixth (and youngest) Chelsea player to reach that milestone in a season.

Li Ka-Shing Biography, Age, Houses, Assets, Cars, Height

Early Life

In 1972, Zhang was born in Dongguan, in the Guangdong province of southern China. The self-proclaimed computer geek attended Shenzhen University when he was 18 to study computer science, where he met Ma Huateng, the current chairman of Tencent. Zhang participated in a graduate program at the South China University of Technology in Guangzhou after receiving his bachelor’s degree.

Professional Career

Zhang returned to Shenzhen and started working for Liming Network Group, a software company that creates electronic transaction systems for the Shanghai and Shenzhen stock markets. Tencent, or “Tengxun” in Mandarin, which means “galloping communication,” was formed in November 1998 by him and Ma.

AOL’s ICQ-like instant messaging software was its first offering, which debuted online in 1999. The service was originally known as “OICQ” by Zhang and Ma, but they later changed the name to “QQ” to set it apart from an America Online service that offered a comparable product.

Because the free messaging services attracted more users and cost more to run, Ma tried to sell the business for $16 million. He was unable to find a buyer. In 2000, IDG Venture Investment Fund and PCCW, one of the biggest telecom companies in Hong Kong, invested $4.4 million in Tencent, each having a 20% stake.

Tencent is now China’s largest Internet community, including services like chat, group messaging, news portals, entertainment, and e-commerce, thanks to Zhang and Ma, known as the “Father of QQ.” In Hong Kong, the Shenzhen-based firm began selling shares to the general public in 2004.

PCCW was replaced when the company joined the benchmark Hang Seng Index in 2009. 2014, Zhang stepped down from his roles as Tencent’s executive director and chief technology officer.

Zhang Zhidong  Net Worth

A 3.4 percent ownership position in Tencent Holdings, the online business he co-founded in 1998 with billionaire Ma Huateng, accounts for most of Zhang’s wealth. According to a company presentation, Wechat, also known as Weixin, had about 1.3 billion users as of September 30, 2021.

According to a company filing dated November 20, 2013, Zhang owns the shares through Best Update International, a British Virgin Islands-based business. Because he left his position as executive director in March 2014 and his interest is below the disclosure level, his ownership of Tencent is no longer disclosed. His stake is assumed to have remained unchanged after the latest disclosure for purposes of valuation.

A calculation of calculated dividends, market performance, and taxes is used to determine the value of his cash holdings. Tencent representative Canny Lo declined to comment on Zhang’s ownership of the business.

Zhang Zhidong has a $ $24.1 billion net worth. Zhang was listed as the 154th richest person in the world by Forbes that year. In 2017, Forbes listed him as the 11th richest Chinese, placing him. As of 2016, he was listed as the 11th richest person in China.

In 2016, Zhang came in at number 26 on the list of the wealthiest IT entrepreneurs. For 16 years, Zhang served as the chief technology officer and co-founder of Tencent Holdings Ltd. He retired in September 2014, and since then, he has lived a very secluded life.

Products And Services Offered

Social media

Tencent QQ, which debuted in February 1999, is the company’s first and most well-known product. In its native market, QQ is one of the most widely used instant messaging services. Tencent QQ was the largest online community at the moment with 647.6 million active Tencent QQ IM user accounts as of December 31, 2010. A hundred million or more QQ accounts have occasionally been connected at once. Although the IM service itself is free, as of 2006, there was a charge for mobile messaging.

Additionally, Tencent developed QQ International, an English-language QQ that enables communication with accounts on the Chinese mainland. QQi is accessible on Windows and macOS. Tencent introduced Qzone, a social networking and blogging platform linked with QQ, in 2005. With 645 million users in 2014, Qzone was one of the biggest social networking services in China.

Entertainment

Through its Tencent Games section of Tencent Interactive Entertainment, Tencent publishes video games and has a significant stake in both domestic and, as of the 2010s, international game developers. TiMi Studio Group, Lightspeed Studios, Aurora Studio Group, Morefun Studio, and Next Studio are its five internal studio groups.

Together with TCL, Tencent debuted iTQQ in April 2009 as a “smart interactive television service.” Tencent Pictures, a production and distribution firm that makes and releases movies based on books, comic books, animated series, and video games, was established by Tencent in 2015. The production unit Tencent Penguin Pictures, which focuses on web dramas and small investments in feature films, was established the same year by Tencent. It is a part of Tencent’s Online Media Business Unit and closely collaborates with Tencent Video.

Music

With several major music producers, including Sony, Warner Music Group, and YG Entertainment, Tencent struck exclusive in-China distribution agreements in 2014. In 2017, it signed a contract with Universal Music Group to stream its music in China. It has signed a cooperation with Alibaba Group on the distribution of music streaming rights.

The agreement intends to safeguard licensed streaming services that deliver the music industry copyrighted content, promote the creation of more original music, and expand China’s rapidly expanding streaming market. In exchange for providing reciprocal rights to its collection of Chinese and Japanese music, Alibaba will receive the ability to stream music from foreign labels that currently have exclusive relationships with Tencent.

Zhang Zhidong Controversies

Allegations Of Copying

Many of Tencent’s products and services resemble both their own and those of its rivals. Huateng “Pony” Ma, the company’s founder and chairman, is credited with saying, “[To] copy is not evil.” Pony Ma is a well-known king of copying, according to Wang Zhidong, a former CEO and president of SINA.com. “The problem with Tencent is the lack of originality; all of their goods are clones,” said Jack Ma of the Alibaba Group.

One of the earliest standalone instant messaging programs, called ICQ, was made available in 1996 by an Israeli business by the name of Mirabilis. Three years later, Tencent unveiled OICQ, an imitation of ICQ that stands for Open ICQ.

Tencent released a new version of OICQ in December 2000 and dubbed it QQ after losing a lawsuit against AOL, who acquired ICQ in 1998, for allegedly breaching ICQ’s intellectual property rights. QQ reached 50 million users in its second year, 856 million users, and at most 45.3 million synchronous users in 2008 using its free-to-use and paying models.

Tencent’s Acquisitions

Tencent modified its strategy and actively invested in the acquisition of other firms rather than the replication of them in an effort to partially restore the reputation that it had lost due to accusations of plagiarism. In more than 800 businesses worldwide by the year 2020, Tencent had made investments.

In renowned gaming businesses including Riot Games, Epic Games, Activision Blizzard, SuperCell, and Bluehole between 2012 and 2019, Tencent invested anything from small minority holdings to 100% stakes.

While Tencent may benefit from aggressive acquisitions due to reasons like reduced competition and monopolization, the acquired company may not expand and innovate as a result. Since Tencent has tens of thousands of sons, according to Pinduoduo founder Colin Huang, “Tencent won’t die when Pinduoduo dies.”

Security Concerns

Tencent was taken off the software whitelists in 2015 when AV-Comparatives, AV-TEST, and Virus Bulletin voted to do so collectively. It was discovered that the Tencent products provided for testing contained optimizations that gave the impression that the software was less vulnerable when benchmarked but really offered more room for delivering attacks.

Furthermore, if used, software settings were harmful to end users’ security. Later, Qihoo was also charged with cheating, and Tencent was charged with aggressively manipulating the anti-malware testing.

Censorship

WeChat, a platform owned by Tencent, has come under fire for allegedly censoring and restricting TikTok videos. In a lawsuit filed in April 2018, TikTok demanded RMB 1 million in restitution and an apology from Tencent, accusing it of disseminating false and damaging material on its WeChat platform.

Tencent sued Toutiao and TikTok in a Beijing court in June 2018 on the grounds that they had persistently slandered the company and harmed its reputation. Tencent was demanding a minimum of RMB 1 in damages as well as an open apology from the defendants. Toutiao responded by filing a complaint the next day against Tencent for what it claimed to be unfair competition and seeking RMB 90 million in financial losses.

Even though Tencent owns a 40% investment in Epic Games, the firm that created the well-known video game Fortnite, Tim Sweeney, the CEO, and founder of Epic Games, vowed that his organization would never follow suit and penalize people for expressing their ideas.

He emphasized that Epic is an American company and that “that will never happen on my watch as the founder, CEO, and controlling shareholder.” This implied that Epic would not compromise its commitment to free speech in order to gain favour with Chinese authorities in order to increase its revenue there.

Dan Pena Early Life

On August 10, 1945, in Jacksonville, Dan Pena was born. Manuel and Amy Pea were his parents. The family didn’t have much when he was small. They came from Guadalajara, Mexico, originally. Dan Pena grew up speaking only Spanish as a result of this.

Later, his family relocated to East Los Angeles, California, where he grew up in a predominantly Latino neighbourhood. Back in the day, crime and violence were commonplace, with many of these occurrences taking place right in Pena’s neighbourhood. Pena was constantly in trouble for local neighbourhood wrongdoings throughout elementary and middle school.

Despite his rambunctious personality, Pena was a bright and motivated student. He went to Reseda High School in 1963 and graduated with honours.

Dan Pena Career

Despite doing exceptionally well in school, Pena had no notion what he wanted to accomplish with his life. He knew he was good with statistics and people, but he couldn’t see working in an office for nine hours every day. As a result, he spent his days drinking and misbehaving with his buddies. Dan’s father was so disappointed and angered that he threatened to kick the now young adult out of the house.

Dan Pena enlisted in the US Army to make amends with his family. He volunteered to join the army as a private and went on to Infantry Officer Candidate School. As a result, he was promoted to 2nd lieutenant at Fort Benning, Georgia.

Pena eventually believed he had accumulated enough life experiences after leaving the army to move on to the next step. The next phase would be the business world. Pena received a big business loan and went out to create a number of ventures using the connections and networks he gained in the army. Dan Pena now owns and operates dozens of small to large enterprises, resulting in a sizable net worth.

The Guthrie Group, of which Dan Pena is both chairman and founder, is Dan Pena’s principal business effort today. TGG is a financial services organisation that handles millions of dollars in institutional and commercial funds. Without a question, this is his main source of wealth. Dan Pena has confessed that his connection with this company has enabled him to create more than half of the other businesses he owns.

Dan Pena Perosnal Life

Dan Pena is wedded to Sally Hall, a woman he met over the internet. The three children he has with Sally are Derrick, Kelly, and Danny. Dan hasn’t shared anything about his personal life.

Dan found himself into a lot of difficulty in 2017 when his estate manager, Craig Williamson, was caught stealing £130,000 from wedding couples who had booked the castle. Dan, on the other hand, refunded the money to the couple. He no longer rents out his castle for marriages as a result of the incident.
