Akshay Kumar real name Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia is a well-known Canadian actor, martial artist, producer, and television personality. He mainly works in Bollywood, the commercial Hindi language film industry. Once a chef in Bangkok, Akshay has been one of the highest-paid actors in Bollywood. Over 29 years, Akshay has performed in over 100 movies and has received numerous awards, including a National Film Award and 2 Filmfare Awards.

Akshay Kumar was born in a Punjabi Hindu family on 9 September 1967 in Amritsar, Punjab, India. His father, Hari Om Bhatia, was a Government employee who served as an Army officer, later, resigned to become an Accountant at UNICEF. His mother, Aruna Bhatia, was a homemaker. He has a younger sister, Alka Bhatia. Akshay Kumar was reported to have been in a relationship with Pooja Batra, Ayesha Jhulka, Rekha, Raveena Tandon, and Shilpa Shetty.

Akshay Kumar completed his schooling at Don Bosco High School, Mirik, Darjeeling, around the same time, he started learning Karate. Since childhood, Kumar was interested in martial arts and sports. Akshay was raised in Old Delhi and then relocated to Koliwada in Mumbai. Later, he took admission in Guru Nanak Khalsa College (King’s Circle) Mumbai but left out of college as he was weak in studies.

Akshay Kumar went to Bangkok and learned martial arts there. Kumar is a Black Belt in Taekwondo and has also learned Muay Thai (Thai Boxing). While in Bangkok, he worked as a chef and a waiter. On returning to Mumbai, he served as a peon for a travel organization in Kolkata and became a teacher of martial arts.

Akshay was recommended to take up modeling by one of his students because of his good looks and dashing personality. Akshay Kumar began his career in the glamour world with modeling tasks. Once successful in modeling, he changed his name from Rajeev Om Bhatia to Akshay Kumar, which was the stage name of an actor opposite to his favorite actress in a movie.

He even worked as a background dancer in several movies and eventually stepped into Bollywood making his debut appearance on-screen in 1991 with the film Saugandh. In 1992. Kumar played the lead in the film Deedar. Since then, there has been no looking back for him.

Akshay made his Bollywood acting debut in the year 1991 with the film Saugandh. In the year 1992, he again starred in the film Khiladi. In the year 1994, he acted in his first action film, Main Khiladi Tu Anari, and then Mohra which were the highest-grossing films of the year. Then he signed Yash Chopra’s film Yeah Dillagi which again was a success.

He received his first nomination for the Best Actor Award at the Filmfare and Star Screen ceremonies. Later, in the same year, Akshay acted in two films, Suhaag and Elaan which were also successful. Then later in the same year, he starred alongside Salman Khan in the romantic musical Jaan-E-Mann. It did not go down well with the audience. Then at the end of the year, he acted in another comedy film Bhagam Bhag which was again a success. In the year 2007, he gave some four outright hits with no flops.
