Aleksandar Mitrović Biography, Age, Height, Career, Net Worth & Wiki

Life of Fraser Forster

Fraser Gerard Forster born, 17 March 1988, is an English professional football goalkeeper who plays for Premier League club Southampton and the England national team.

Forster was born in Hexham, Northumberland, the son of Brian Clive Forster QC (who subsequently became a circuit judge), and went to the Royal Grammar School in Newcastle, but did not start playing goalie until he was 13 years old.

He had previously primarily played rugby union or cricket. Coaches first felt Forster was too tiny to play goalie, despite playing for local junior team Stocksfield before joining the illustrious Wallsend Boys Club. However, at the age of 15, he experienced a big growth spurt and eventually signed with Newcastle United.

Fraser Forster began his career with Newcastle United and spent time on loan with Stockport County and Bristol Rovers. Forster subsequently went on loan to Celtic during the 2010–11 season, where he helped them win the Scottish Cup.

He stayed on loan for another season, winning the Scottish Premier League, before becoming a permanent squad member in 2012 for a cost of £2.2 million. Forster received several accolades for his achievements at Celtic, and he retains the Scottish top-flight record of 1,256 minutes without allowing a goal.

Fraser Forster joined Southampton for a reported £10 million in August 2014. Forster had a solid initial season in the Premier League, but he suffered a catastrophic knee injury in March 2015 that sidelined him for the remainder of the season. When he returned in January 2016, he rapidly regained his form, going on to establish a club record of 708 minutes without conceding a goal.

Forster’s comeback boosted Southampton’s ascent from thirteenth to sixth place in the league, earning them qualification for the UEFA Europa League the following season.

During 2012 and 2013, Forster was called up to various England teams before earning his maiden international debut in November 2013. He was chosen for England’s World Cup and Euro 2016 teams in 2014.

Forster possesses a remarkable degree of agility despite his massive stature; Ian Brown, who coached him as a teenager at Wallsend, stated that “He was and still is an incredible shot stopper. I’ve seen him save shots for Southampton that he shouldn’t, and his body bends.” In one-on-one circumstances, he appears to amplify his already massive stature to an onrushing opponent.

However, Forster was chastised early in his Celtic career for lacking confidence and authority, and for being unsure with the ball at his feet. He developed with time, and his confidence and kicking significantly improved.

His focus was also highlighted; given Celtic’s domination over the bulk of their opponents in Scotland, their goalie generally enjoys extended periods of inactivity, but when called upon, Forster was always awake and ready.

Fraser Forster Net Worth

Fraser Forster came through the Newcastle United youth system before establishing his reputation in Scotland with Celtic FC. He returned to England with Southampton in 2014 and has a net worth of up to 30.6 million Euros. In July 2017, the goalkeeper agreed to terms with Southampton on a four-year contract worth four million euros per year. His market worth is currently close to 2.4 Million Euros.

Football Career

Club Career

Forster signed his first professional deal with Newcastle United’s Academy in 2005. In the 2007–08 season, Forster was Newcastle’s third-choice goalkeeper, while Tim Krul was on loan at Falkirk and featured regularly in the reserves. Fraser, however, never made a first-team appearance for Newcastle throughout his six-year contract, owing to the fact that he spent the most of his time on loan to other teams, frequently for full seasons.

With Krul returning for the 2008–09 season and fully recovered, it was Forster’s time to go on loan. On 2 October 2008, he was loaned to Stockport County to fill in for regular goalkeeper Owain Fôn Williams, who was away on international duty with Wales. On 7 October, Forster made his debut for Stockport in the Football League Trophy second round, which they lost 1–0 away to Bury.

In October, he began his first league encounter for Stockport County, which ended in a 1–1 draw away to Southend United. He returned to Newcastle on November 1 after finishing his loan term with Stockport, where he played six league games and kept three clean sheets.

Forster, who had been on the bench for Newcastle on more than 20 occasions in the Premier League, required consistent playing time and signed a month-long loan agreement with Bristol Rovers on July 31, 2009. In the four league matches he played for them, he maintained two clean sheets.

Norwich announced in November 2009, that they had reached an agreement with Newcastle to extend Forster’s loan. The loan was extended until the conclusion of the 2009–10 season. This happened after he had impressed the Norwich fans with his performances and helped the side rocket up the League One table.

He was also given permission to play in Norwich City’s cup matches.Norwich manager Paul Lambert complimented the saves as “world class” and a tremendous contribution to the squad.

Forster was named Norwich City Player of the Month in November 2009. On April 17, 2010, Norwich City won a hard-fought 1–0 victory at Charlton Athletic, with Forster making outstanding saves to deny Nicky Bailey and Deon Burton. Norwich won League One with a 2–0 win against Gillingham a week later.

Forster was voted the club’s Players’ Player of the Year 2010 and finished second in the Supporters’ Player of the Year award in acknowledgment of his role in Norwich’s success. An outstanding season at Norwich was capped by his receipt of the Macron Golden Gloves Award for the greatest league clean sheet record, with 18 clean sheets in 38 league games and 20 clean sheets in 20 outings.

Forster joined Celtic on a season-long loan from Newcastle on August 24, 2010. “He’s a big guy, he’s come well recommended,” Celtic manager Neil Lennon said of Forster. “His age is the one thing going against him because otherwise he’s got the traits you look for.” He made his Celtic debut against Motherwell on August 29, 2010, and maintained a clean sheet as Celtic won 1–0. With the exception of two cup matches, he went on to play in every match of Celtic’s season.

Forster had a fantastic season with Celtic, finishing second in both the League Cup and the Scottish Premier League. Forster and teammate goalkeeper Lukasz Zauska combined for 23 league clean sheets, exceeding Celtic’s previous clean sheet record from the 2001–02 season. Of the 22 clean sheets, Forster preserved 21. He finished his season with a 3–0 win over Motherwell, which helped Celtic win the Scottish Cup. In 44 games for Celtic, he kept 24 clean sheets.

After appearing in pre-season for Newcastle against Darlington, Orlando City, Leeds United, and Fiorentina, as well as being named among the substitutes for the Premier League season opener against Arsenal, Forster returned to Celtic on loan for the remainder of the season on August 17, 2011.

He helped Celtic draw 0–0 at home against FC Sion before losing 3–1 away, only for UEFA to reinstate Celtic into the Europa League with 3–0 victory in both legs when Sion were deemed to have fielded ineligible players. He let up goals in each of his five group matches.

Forster had a fantastic 2011–12 season with Celtic, helping the club win the Scottish Premier League and break the previous season’s record of 23 clean sheets. He and Zauska combined for 25 clean sheets, with Forster collecting up 21 of them.

Hearts were given a disputed penalty in the last minute of a league match at Parkhead in December 2011, with Celtic leading 1–0. To earn three crucial points for Celtic, Forster made a superb save from Eggert Jonsson’s penalty attempt. He preserved 26 clean sheets in 47 outings that season.

On June 29, 2012, it was confirmed that Forster has signed a permanent contract with Celtic for a cost of around £2 million paid to Newcastle United. Forster was praised as a “high class keeper” by manager Neil Lennon, who saw him as an essential addition to the club.

On 7 November 2012, Forster delivered a determined performance against Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League group stages, assisting Celtic to a historic 2–1 triumph during the club’s 125th anniversary week. Because of the caliber of his performance, the Spanish press dubbed Forster “La Gran Muralla” (“The Great Wall”).

Forster continued to shine in domestic contests. Motherwell were granted a soft penalty against Celtic in January 2013. Surprisingly, referee Steven McLean let Tom Hateley take the penalty kick from just in front of the penalty spot. Forster received a yellow card for his objections to McLean. However, the goalie went on to make an outstanding one-handed stop high to his right.

Forster pushed over a thunderous Gary Harkins dipping shot at full-stretch the following month in a league encounter against Dundee. In May 2013, this save was chosen the SPL Save of the Season. Forster went on to win a second league title with Celtic that season, and completed a league and cup double with a 3–0 triumph over Hibernian in the Scottish Cup Final on May 26, 2013.

Celtic qualified for the UEFA Champions League again in 2013–14, and faced Barcelona at Parkhead on October 1, 2013, losing 1–0. Despite the loss, Forster once again excelled with numerous fantastic saves, including an amazing double save near the conclusion of the game.

Fraser Forster playing for Celtic

Forster’s outstanding performances for Celtic in the Champions League and his participation in the England international squad prompted media reports in October and November 2013 that numerous clubs, notably Manchester United and Manchester City, were considering an offer for the goalie.

In reaction to the rumors in the press, Celtic manager Neil Lennon stated, “It’s going to be hard to keep Fraser the way he’s playing,” adding, “Inevitably, I think a large club will come in and make a huge bid for him.”

On February 2, 2014, Forster set a new club record by keeping 11 consecutive league clean sheets. Forster played in Celtic’s first four Champions League qualification matches, despite rumors connecting him to a move to Southampton.

Celtic and Southampton agreed on a rumored price of about £10 million for Forster’s transfer to the Premier League club on August 8, 2014. Southampton made the trade official the next day, when Forster signed a four-year contract with the club.

On August 17, he made his Premier League debut in Southampton’s opening match of the season, a 2–1 loss against Liverpool. By mid-October, and after eight Premier League games, Forster had four clean sheets and only allowed five goals, the best defensive record in the Premier League at the time.

In a match against Burnley on March 21, 2015, Forster suffered a significant knee injury while clearing a back pass and was led off the field by doctors. He was replaced by Kelvin Davis.

Despite being anticipated to be out for up to a year, Forster returned to light training in November 2015. On January 6, 2016, Forster played the whole 90-minute Under-21 Premier League Cup encounter against Chelsea and kept a clean sheet.

On 13 January 2016, he made his Premier League debut, playing the full 90 minutes and maintaining a clean sheet in Southampton’s 2–0 win against Watford.

Forster’s performance versus Arsenal on February 2, 2016, in his fourth match, was particularly excellent and received much praise. The Gunners controlled the game, with 11 shots on goal to Southampton’s three. Forster made a number of saves in what The Daily Telegraph called a “genuinely inspired goalkeeping display.”

Although he had been first choice goalkeeper since his debut at Southampton, it wasn’t until Kelvin Davis retired in the summer of 2016 that Forster was officially given the customary goalkeeper’s “number 1” shirt at the club.

Despite Forster’s and Southampton’s overall poor run, the Saints were the only team in history to reach the League Cup final without surrendering a single goal. However, Southampton lost the final 3–2 against Manchester United on February 26, 2017. Despite a difficult season, Forster finished the season with 14 clean sheets.

With the acquisition of Angus Gunn from Manchester City as a back-up for Alex McCarthy in July 2018, Forster was moved further down the pecking order at Southampton.

On 22 August 2019, it was revealed that Forster’s old club Celtic had agreed to a season-long loan with Southampton. Forster’s contract with Southampton has three years remaining, although he has not featured for the club since December 2017.

By March 2020, Celtic were 13 points clear in the league and on their path to a ninth straight triumph; however, because of the COVID-19 epidemic in the United Kingdom, all professional football in Scotland was banned later that month. The Celtics were later crowned champions.

Despite media rumors that Forster might return to Celtic for a second stint, he returned to Southampton for the 2020–21 season. Forster made his season debut in the EFL Cup on August 25, 2021, as Southampton defeated Newport County 8–0 to earn their largest away win in history.

International Career

Roy Hodgson named Forster to England’s team for the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against San Marino and Poland on October 4, 2012. On November 8, 2012, Forster was picked to Hodgson’s England team for a friendly against Sweden.

In March 2013, Hodgson named Forster to his England team for the 2014 World Cup qualifiers against San Marino and Montenegro. Forster was included in England’s team for the World Cup qualifiers against Moldova and Ukraine on August 27, 2013, joining Joe Hart and John Ruddy in the goalkeeper race.

Forster made his England debut on November 15, 2013, in a friendly match against Chile at Wembley Stadium. England lost 2–0, however Forster was “blameless” for both goals and made a “great diving stop” to prevent Chile from scoring a third. With this game against Chile, Forster became only the second Celtic player to play for England, following Alan Thompson in 2004.

Hodgson nominated Forster to England’s 23-man team for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil on May 12, 2014. On 7 June, he came in for Joe Hart in England’s final warm-up match before the tournament, a 0–0 tie with Honduras. Forster traveled to Brazil with the rest of the England team, but he did not play.

Forster missed much of 2015 due to a knee injury, but his performance after returning to football in early 2016 won him a recall to the England group in March. He appeared in the second half of England’s 3–2 friendly triumph against Germany in Berlin, making a superb save from a Marco Reus free kick before conceding a goal to Mario Gómez.

Three days later, on March 29, 2016, Forster played the entire 90 minutes in a 2–1 loss to the Netherlands. Danny Rose claimed that the handball that led to the penalty for the Netherlands’ first goal was not malicious, while Phil Jagielka seemed to be fouled in the build-up to Luciano Narsingh’s winning goal.

Despite the loss, Forster played with poise and made some good saves. Forster was nominated to England’s 23-man team for UEFA Euro 2016, yet he was once again an understudy to Joe Hart and did not appear in any of England’s four matches at the tournament.

Following Euro 2016, Forster was an unused replacement in consecutive England matches before being withdrawn entirely from the team in August 2017.

He expressed his desire to rejoin the national squad in November 2019. Forster was called up to the England squad for friendly matches against Switzerland and the Ivory Coast on March 23, 2022. He came in as a late replacement for Sam Johnstone.

The term Bollywood refers to mainstream Hindi cinema – formerly known as Bombay Cinema – and the genre has now firmly crossed over into the Hollywood mainstream, too, with the cultural influences of both cinema traditions bouncing off each other to form beautiful and innovative new movies that reflect the different styles and aesthetics.

This crossover can be seen clearly in the number of Indian people in the movie industry that are making it big both in their native country and across the pond in the USA, the UK, and beyond, and we take a look at the most successful of these below.

Irrfan Khan

Hailing from Jaipur, the late Irrfan Khan was an immensely popular actor both in his home country and across the world. He can be seen in Hollywood blockbusters, including The Life of Pi and The Amazing Spider-Man, and he stars in the movie Inferno, directed by Ron Howard, which is based on bestselling author Dan Brown’s book, The Da Vinci Code.

Deepika Padukone

This actress’ career is currently at its peak in Bollywood, and she’s just taking her first steps into what will no doubt be a glittering Hollywood career, too. In terms of box office revenue and salary, Padukone is considered to be the Queen of Bollywood, and she’s just played a starring role in the Hollywood movie XXX: The Return of Xander Cage, opposite Vin Diesel.

Namit Malhotra

And it’s not all about the actors. Malhotra was behind the VFX for the movie Dune and won big at the Oscars for his work; he was awarded the prize for Best Visual Effects at the ceremony. Malhotra, originally from India, is the founder and CEO of DNEG, one of the biggest providers of visual effects in the world.

If you’re currently working on a video project for social media or the big screen, have a look here for stock footage and information on visual effects that can take your production to the next level. Who knows, maybe one day it could be your film in the running for a major accolade!

Priyanka Chopra

This actress is one of the most successful to have made the Bollywood to Hollywood crossover. She made her Hollywood debut as the lead in the tv show Quantico, which was popular in both the US and India; while filming the series, Chopra was also playing a key role in what went on to become a Bollywood blockbuster, Bajirao Mastani. The latter bagged the actress an IIFA and Filmfare award, and right now, she has several big projects in the pipeline.

Anil Kapoor

A well-known and much-loved household name in India, Kapoor has also found fame in Hollywood. The actor has a wide range of credits under his belt, including parts in the TV series 24 and a starring role in the hit movie Slumdog Millionaire, which was directed by Danny Boyle.

Shekhar Kapur

Kapur is an acclaimed director who has worked on both Bollywood and Hollywood films. In India, he made his directorial debut with the cult movie Masoom in 1983, which earned him the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Movie of the Year. His 1994 Bollywood film, The Bandit Queen, saw him garner worldwide recognition and won the director a slew of awards.

In 1998, Kapur made the move to Hollywood, directing the critically acclaimed film Elizabeth, which was nominated for seven Oscars, and went on to work on the movie’s sequel: Elizabeth: The Golden Age.

Naseeruddin Shah

Shah is widely considered to be one of India’s greatest actors, and he’s also starred in several Hollywood movies, too. His performances can be seen in The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and The Great New Wonderful; he also stars in Monsoon Wedding, which was directed by the Indian-born director Mira Nair. This leads us neatly on to…

Mira Nair

Nair made her directorial debut with the movie Salaam Bombay! The movie earned her an Oscar nomination for the 1988 Best Foreign Language Film, and it won a raft of other international awards, including two trophies at the Cannes Film Festival of that year.

Monsoon Wedding came next, in 2000, which was released to widespread critical acclaim and collected more accolades for Nair’s exceptional directing skills. The director’s next move was to work on Hysterical Blindness, an HBO original film that starred Uma Thurman and Juliette Lewis, following which she directed the opulent Hollywood version of the Thackeray classic, Vanity Fair.

Anupam Kher

Respected in India as both a talented stage and film actor, Kher has also made the transition to Hollywood and British film; he played major roles in the comedy Bend it Like Beckham and the Oscar-winning movie Silver Linings Playbook.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

The Bollywood star and former Miss World made her Hollywood debut in the movie The Last Legion in 2007 and can also be seen starring in The Pink Panther 2 and The Mistress of Spices. Before this, she’d performed in Bollywood movies, including Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya and Devdas. She’s won two Filmfare awards to date and was also recognized with the Padma Shri in 2009.

Om Puri

Another actor that has made the leap from being a critically-acclaimed Bollywood star to a highly-regarded Hollywood one is Om Puri. His versatility and acting skills have made him a much-respected figure in India and earned him a Filmfare award. He’s also garnered plenty of praise – as well as a BAFTA –  from the UK and Hollywood film industry for his performances in movies including East is East, City of Joy, and Charlie Wilson’s War.

Gulshan Grover

Known as ‘the bad man of Bollywood,’ Grover has had a successful career across the water as he has enjoyed in his native India. The star has played roles in big-budget American films, including Prisoners of the Sun, Blind Ambition, and My Bollywood Bride.

Shabana Azmi

Azmi has worked with some of the best-regarded filmmakers in her home country of India, and her decades-spanning career has featured a multitude of critically-acclaimed roles. The actress has also starred in Hollywood movies, too – she can be seen performing in Midnight’s Children and opposite Riz Ahmed in The Reluctant Fundamentalist.

Ali Fazal

And finally  – just taking his first steps into a Hollywood film career is Ali Fazal, who has previously starred in several Hindi films and TV series. He recently appeared alongside Judy Dench in the film Victoria and Abdul, as well as in the adaption of the Agatha Christie novel, Death on the Nile, directed by Kenneth Branagh. The actor has also had a role in the American mini-series Bollywood Hero.

Barker refused to host the pageants after promoters refused to remove fur coats from the prize packages received by the winners, as he had requested. His support of animal rights concluded in his founding of the DJ&T Foundation in 1995, an organization based in Beverly Hills that works to reduce the overpopulation of pet animals by providing free or inexpensive castration for cats and dogs.

Nutan Career/Movies

Nutan started her career as an actress as a fourteen-year-old in Hamari Beti (1950). This film was produced by her mother, Shobhana.

Her first big break was Seema, for which she won her first Filmfare Best Actress Award. She followed her success with a romantic comedy, Paying Guest, in which she co-starred with Dev Anand. In 1959 she starred in two hit films, Anari (with Raj Kapoor) and Bimal Roy’s Sujata (with Sunil Dutt). In the 1960s and 1970s, she had many more successful films including Chhalia (1960), Saraswatichandra (1968), Devi (1970) and Main Tulsi Tere Aangan Ki (1978).

In 1960, she starred opposite Raj Kapoor once again in Manmohan Desai’s Chhalia. She received another Filmfare nomination for the role. In a film review at the time, Filmfare wrote: “As the unfortunate girl disowned by her relatives for no fault of hers, Nutan puts over a superb and memorable portrayal.”

Cute Nutan

She formed a popular screen couple with co-star Dev Anand and the two acted in four films together – Paying Guest (1957), Baarish (1957), Manzil (1960) and Tere Ghar Ke Samne (1963).

In 1963, Nutan starred in Bimal Roy’s socio-realist Bandini as Kalyani, a young prisoner who was convicted after poisoning the wife of her lover (Ashok Kumar). The story follows her life in prison and how later she has to make a choice between her past love and a young prison doctor (Dharmendra) who fell in love with her. Nutan had to be persuaded to act in the film as she had quit acting after marriage.

Bandini was a major critical success, which was attributed by critics mostly to Nutan’s portrayal, which is regarded as one of the finest performances in the history of Indian cinema. The film won the Filmfare Award for Best Movie and she received her third Best Actress Award. The Bengal Film Journalists’ Association, while ranking the film as the third-best Indian film of the year, acknowledged her with the Best Actress (Hindi section) award.

Author and critic Dinesh Raheja wrote: “Sans screaming hysteria-niks, Nutan puts across one of the finest performances seen on Hindi screen. She recognized and was perfectly in tandem with Kalyani’s innate strength of character.” Film and theatre critic Gautaman Bhaskaran wrote for The Hindu: “Nutan as Kalyani gave perhaps her career’s best performance. Splendidly expressive, her understated role is something that cannot be easily matched by today’s painted heroines.

Fear and anger show up so vividly in Nutan’s eyes that they haunt you long after you have walked out of the theatre.” In 2010, Filmfare included her performance in its “80 Iconic Performances” list. Anupama Chopra included the film in her list of “The 20 Best Hindi Films Ever Made”, calling her role “one of Hindi cinema’s most complex and fully realized female characters,” and further noting: “This was the role of a lifetime and Nutan, who … gave it all.

Her face raged with a grand passion and a quiet grace.” In 2013, conducting a list of “25 Greatest Acting Performances of Indian Cinema” in celebration of a hundred years of Indian cinema, Forbes India included Nutan’s performance, hailing her work as “the best acting by a lead actress in Indian cinema”.

Her fourth Filmfare Award came for Milan (1967). She starred opposite Amitabh Bachchan in 1973’s Saudagar (1973), for which she received a sixth Filmfare nomination and a third BFJA award. In 1978, she made an astonishing return to the screen as the righteous Sanjukta Chauhan in Main Tulsi Tere Aangan Ki (1978). For this performance, she received an eighth Filmfare career nomination and won her fifth Filmfare best actress award, at the age of 42. She thus became a record holder in the category, having won five awards for Best Actress at Filmfare.

At age 42, she is also the oldest winner of the award. Nutan was perhaps the only actress of her generation to command leading roles in her 40s, with tremendous success. Following this, she starred in Saajan ki Saheli (1981), as an ignorant, jealous wife to a husband who knowingly befriends the daughter she abandoned at childbirth.

In the remaining 1980s, she played roles in blockbuster films such as Meri Jung (1985), Naam (1986) and Karma (1986). Karma was notable for being the first time she was paired with actor Dilip Kumar. For Mere Jung, she won a Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress. Her last film released while she was alive was Kanoon Apna Apna in 1989. She died in 1991 of cancer. Two of her films Naseebwala (1992) and Insaniyat (1994) were released after her death. She also gave a stellar performance as Kaliganj ki Bahu in the TV serial Mujrim Hazir, her only role on the small screen.
